  1. Arguably the best performance of the Riley era. Dominated the way they should finally. Illinois may well be the worst team in the league this year.
  2. I haven't booed anybody but I think it's OK to do every once in awhile. If the product is terrible then some fans are going to let them hear it. Nebraska fans are usually reserved on the booing. Takes a pretty poor effort to get booed.
  3. Not at all curious. The number should be 4 or 5.
  4. Would love to keep both Williams (for the current recruiting class mostly) and Parrella. Everyone else is expendable, although I do like Diaco's work so far in improving the defense.
  5. Not saying he's right but for appearance purposes. Plus doing your due diligence never hurts. I wish they would just give me the $125K but more has been spent for appearance sake before.
  6. Interesting thought but I don't think Dave is here to fire anybody. I'll take him at face value there. I think the admin/boosters really respect Mike as a person, and will do everything they can to give him a chance/not embarrass him.
  7. So much speculation, we are all just throwing things against the wall and seeing what sticks. Here's some more. I think the AD hire will tell us where the coaching search is going. If it's Trev, NU has likely targeted Frost as the man. Meaning the money wants Frost as HC and needs an AD that will hire him. If it's a national search that lands an outside AD, it will be a national search for the HC. You can't tell an established, respected AD who to hire w/o his input.
  8. Which would be an incredible turnaround from what we've seen thus far. I would put that at around 3% probability as of now.
  9. I think they already know what the answer will be with both of them if they choose to pursue either of them.
  10. I think Riley did a really good job at OSU, but he got old and the program got stale. Riley had a good run at OSU in the 2000s. Even though I don't like his offense, we'd probably be getting better results with 50 year old Mike Riley in the 2000s vs a 64 year old Mike Riley in 2017. I think the game passed him by a bit. Mullen is much younger at 45 though not a perfect candidate. There is no perfect candidate on paper for Nebraska right now. We'll have to take the best gamble available, the coach who will project best for Nebraska. Hopefully Frost is the real deal bc that's who I think it will ultimately be.
  11. Probably just needed to list a couple goals or tasks he'll be doing for the sake of the press conference. He's not going to be here more than 60 days, I don't think there's much he can do about it other than offer some input. I think he'll mostly be keeping relationships strong with boosters and coaches, keeping people in the loop. Try to keep the ship afloat while they hire the new AD.
  12. That's why I think this is going to be a disaster the rest of the way. I don't see us being able to run the ball very well against most of the teams on the schedule. Maybe vs Illinois but it's tough sledding after that in the run game.
  13. Such a long shot that Riley is retained, can't see them wanting to give Riley another chance to make AC changes. Should have been taken care of last year with the major changes. Riley's/Lang's offense produced a ton of INTs at Oregon State and has here as well. This year is probably the highest rate per pass but it's been a problem for them since the beginning. Riley just never evolved to a more efficient type of offense.
  14. Yeah I agree. If the AD hire is Trev that will tell us where they intend to go with the football hire. Still think they need to due their due diligence with the search firm and make sure Frost has a solid season. He doesn't need to go undefeated or anything crazy, but make sure no red flags pop up this year at UCF.
  15. Let's go by SEC recruiting ranking and division recruiting ranking for MSU 2017: 9th and 5th 2016: 11th and 7th 2015: 8th and 6th 2014: 12th and 7th 2013: 10th and 7th So MSU's never had higher than the 8th best recruiting class in the SEC during that time period. Never better than 5th in it's own division. 3 of the 5 years they finished last in their division in recruiting. Tough sledding when you're MSU in the SEC West. A top 25 class is near the bottom of the SEC and is frequently dead last in the SEC West.
  16. So does Illinois. It will be a battle for 1st place in the division on Friday. Hell of a showdown.
  17. Very few coaches have winning records vs ranked opponents, especially so if you have a job that is low on the totem pole relative to your conference. James Franklin is 3-15 vs ranked teams. Was he a bad hire for PSU? Jim Mora is 13-11 vs ranked teams. Anybody want to hire Jim Mora right now? Bill Snyder is 21-51-1 vs ranked teams. Not a good coach? I think there's more analysis to be done than record vs ranked opponents.
  18. Doesn't seem low to me. Our biggest win is by 10 at home vs Rutgers. We have a short week, they had a bye. Almost seems high, I'd put it around 4.
  19. Would be a terrible waste of a practice if that was why.
  20. May have been nothing, I mean he is the backup and should be ready to go in the game at any time bc of injury or equipment malfunction anyway.
  21. Read on another board that POB was warming up and had his helmet on, possibly ready to go in, but then we got the ball on our own 3 yard line. Might not have wanted to give him his first snap backed up like that. Then they went on a 97 yard TD drive so you wouldn't pull Lee after that. Not sure if true, I wasn't at the game.
  22. MR definitely keeps his job at 8-4 (7-2). Would be shocked if we finished 8-4. Much more likely to be 4-8
