This should be an easy all-win season now that we have the best QB in college football. The non-conf schedule will be cake-walks but they'll look great on our resumé, padding wins and lot of stats for us. I wonder how many 60-point wins our coach can give us? How many 70-point W's?

That season long #1 ranking and then getting blasted like we were TCU playing a last-game-of-season feels bad. Humiliating, especially since Texas did have a few on-road tests (which they failed, even against K-State recently). At least we had the Coach Of The Year. He really saved us.

I was surprised that in the 129 years of football, this is the worst-record ever achieved by any Nebraska football coach. With South Alabama and South Dakota State College lined up in the next two years, we're not going to see 0-6 again. Not for a while.

I thought Scott Frost's post-game comments of "I'm seeing things I've never seen before" was his first admission that he's way in over his head. As a coach. As a recognizer of talent, and a developer of skills. . I'm sure he's known this for years, too, and that's why God invented Good Assistant Coaches. Learning to tell Bad from Good, however, is something else Scott Frost hasn't learned yet. But give him time - in 10-15 years, he'll get it.

Scott Frost is getting this team ready for that bowl game. Herbie's post about "needing to jiggle the handle" may be appropriate.

"Gets worse..." So, did I hear this right? "Husker Football starts 0-6 for the first time ever in 129 years of Football?" Scott Frost has won quite a place in history. No one's going to take that away from him. "First Ever Coach" to do that...

At least Scott's been facing the toughest teams in the history of football. Good grief... a 10-point lead.

Well, kickers have only a few plays a game to do their thang. The rest of the team has 60-70-80 plays. If we lose by 1, there's a whole lotta teammates that qualify for the woulda-coulda-shoulda department.

So, Northwesetern gets the kickoff and decides to run out the clock. After all, football games aren't 60 minutes...

That's three patient passes - barely gains at all - which tehn tuned into bigger gains and finally that big-hole-up-middle TD run from the 12 , for with another 90-second drive. But the extra point kick is missed, so NW still leads, 14-13 with 42 seconds left. Plenty of time for a blow-out win over a slow NW team.

OK, so the sack-fumble gives NW a 14-7 lead with 3 minutes left in the 1st Quarter. We looked great in that first 1:30 of the game, and I still think NW looks SLOW, especially in Defense. To keep them in the game, the play-calling must use only slow-developers. Put Martinez in the pocket, let him get blasted over and over.

CBS Sports' Bottom 25 puts Nebraska at #3. Their author admits this week's Bottom 25 is odd because, for the first time in their rankings' history, a team with a win is #1 (UConn), over many winless teams, including Nebraska, UTEP, Bowling Green, San Jose State. That's a lofty set of accomplices but at least Nebraska's got plenty of sure-fire wins ahead. 247Sports is listing the Ten Most Disappointing Teams of the season and so many are with first-year coaches, like Scott Frost's version of Nebraska Football. But we'll get to see Nebraska's second half of the season and there's plenty of reason for optimism: Bethune-Cookman's on the horizon. There's always Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, Mich State, Iowa. Plenty of easy wins for Scott Frost to start collecting. Nebraska's not going to stay #3 or #9 for long.

With Frost's long history of successful recruits, he'll get the #1 class soon. Of course, there's always Wisconsin - one of the Top 5's winningest teams in the last 5 seasons, yet they've never had a recruiting class above #32. They decide to 'coach 'em up'. How quaint! Gee - a coach who can actually coach! What a concept!

Play calling that allow QB mobility wears down the highly-charged pass rushers, too. Get them to start running hard themselves... which of course means a 2-deep O-line that can rotate in and out quickly before the defenders realize they're getting worn out chasing. Make it a long day from the first snap, on.

Franklin's Penn State bosses were able to portray themselves as innocent widdle victims while helping Sandusky sponsor Penn State-based events so he could entrap 10-11-12 year old boys in the name of 'recruiting them'. The school is STILL portraying itself as the innocent victim, crying foul every time foes mention the shower rooms or the 30 years of sodomy under Sandusky-Paterno. But why didn't the NCAA use the same holy stick to beat on Baylor after 6 years of recruit-by-gang-rape promises? "Only one conviction!" but yes that testimony included 6 years of recruiting trips using gang-rape-wink-wink tales. But at least Nebraska is rid of getting easy access to Lone Star recruits.

"The dichotomy of Scott Frost... who took a winless UCF program and turned it into an instant winner that continues to win, extending the nation's longest win-streak to 17; and Frost has led his alma mater Nebraska team to it's first-ever 8 loss streak in its history." Ugh... Give him 10 years' experience, and he'll turn this around. He'll have wins long before that, of course. Bethune Cookman and many others.

"Nebraska = Bad Situation"?!! C'mon... Nebraska Football is one of the premier programs in the history of college sports.

"Any game action that disproves this Mich player's statement?" The closest offering I can think of us that, Mich has scored their 3rd TD near the end of the 1st Qtr, then 4 minutes later, they are stopped and kick their first (of two) FGs. Can FGs be considered a 'stop' by the Defense? I think that, early on, that first FG was considered a 'good stop' but I don't recall each of Mich's failed plays just before that FG. I think one was an errant pass - badly thrown. Not really a defensive gem, therefore, but a poor offensive one. I don't recall the other two. There were stops during the game, and some of those were indeed good-enough defensive plays which indicate a non-quit attitude. I suspect this one player's quip was his own anecdotal selective memory although, in fact, beating a Quitter Team by ONLY 56-10 really doesn't speak too highly of Mich. A really good team would have put up 100 or more, right? I mean - since the other team 'quit'. Right? With any luck, this can be Bulletin Board Material... and the team really has few choices of how to use this item into their future. Fortunately, Frost has a long history of resurrecting failed, quitter programs, right? He knows all about this, right? (This will always be my complaint against Frost: he does NOT have a long history of coaching in a variety of situations. He's still a very young coach in practice. This will be tooth-cutting situations for the next decade for him.)

So, Mich has struck back with a matching field goal, 49-3, within only a few seconds left in 3rd Quarter.

Milking the clock, Nebraska ran the clock down to 3 minutes left, 3rd Quarter. The defense should enjoy that breather. 46-3 now...
