  1. Of course we trot him out there.........haven't you heard "TM is the guy" LOL I don't blame the kid a bit.......he is what he is.....never a top flight QB prospect.....FAR from it.....but the golden egg was put in his lap for WHATEVER REASON and those people made him THE MAN..........and he isn't...........and that is pretty clear. I don't know what the issue is but when TM is in the game the team responds completely differently. The last few week with Taylor out.......the offense had this confidence and swagger (despite the opponents) and the whole team rallied together and the offense felt like a team. And today with Taylor in there, it was the same disjointed mess the first few games were when he was running the show. And after todays pressers I don't think TM likes the situation hes been put in.......he doesn't have that personality to embrace it.......so why force it on the kid? The other thing that bugs me to death is the media buying into this "TM has to come back or NE will be in big trouble without him"..........have they watched the same games I have watched? TO vs BP........TF, one of the best QBs NE has ever seen went down with an injury.........Brook B stepped in and did a good job holding the team at a certain level. Then the bowl game comes and TF is TRULY healthy (unlike TM today)........and he starts the bowl game.......BUT BB still gets playing time and they rotate thoughout the game. Now TM is so far off the talent level from TF and yet BP insist on this NOT HEALTHY player to return at NOT 100 percent and plays him the entire game when 2 other players have shown they can get the job done. Just show the coaching intelligence level difference between TO and BP as if I have to point that out.
  2. That Eric Crouch won a Heisman and TF didn't is enough to make me laugh out loud at him LOL EC would have not been on the team if he wouldnt have left like a baby crying to mommy but the school begged him to come back. The kid was SO over rated Scott Frost is my vote.......the kid was in a really TOUGH spot......taking over for Frazier. Living in AZ, I was at that ASU/NU game that NU lost.......ASU broke the NU winning streak.....AG fumbled all night long.......and the ASU fans were yelling at us....."see you at the blue bonnet bowl NU".......even though as NU fans outnumbers the home team fans.......it was a bad night. I had no faith in SF after that night for the rest of the year. But the next year proved me so wrong.....alot of personnal stuff came out......inside drama......and it seemed to work itself out the next year. The MU game was the catapult.......and then that bowl game......which didn't seal it at all. What sealed the "co" championship was Scott Frost post game speech........totally got the voters thinking and doing a reality check........that speecjh in my mind got NU a share of the championship. THen the kid goes on to make an NFL team as a safety!!!!!!!!!! He my choice.....hand down......not even close. EC would think about the NFL if he couldn't be QB.......would an over rated joke he was.......he an TBOW should have great stories to share........but TBOW came through in the big game unlike Crouch
  3. I learned that TA is the best QB that we have, even if TM is healthy and despite what Bo keeps insisting. I know he will never take over for TM as a starter and it's a shame.......but it's well documented that Bo is loyal to TM is a very strange sort of way for some reason. So that being said......I know that beyond this year.......I will have much less frustration watching the QB play at NE.......today was fun to watch on the offensive side of the ball (despite who we were playing.....because that team still had 11 men on the field) and they executed in every facet of the game and I haven't seen that in MANY years. 300/300 plus game.......first time EVER in NE history.......and NE has had MANY powerful offenses that played against many creampuff teams........but they never got a 300/300 game. I just wish my tingley feeling over the QB situation would have to wait until next year. Oh and one more thing I learned......our defense is still soft as Charmin tissue.....they need to man up and find an attitude !
  4. Anyone listen to TA's post game presser? This kid is a QB and a leader and gets IT. He talked about how he was always younger in HS and played with jrs and srs and he was still called upon to be a leader so he is used to it. He said when they took the field, in the huddle he told everyone that they needed to take the pressure off the D so they needed to go down and score. Then after SDSU scored right back, he said again, in the huddle, he said, ok it's alright that they scored, now we just need to go right back down and score again. Both times they did. His presser was so interesting compared to TMs pressers. The dialogue is SO totally different. This kid is a leader and knows how to motivate an offense and make them believe. One of the biggest things from a TM presser this year that sticks in my mind is that whatever game it was, the offense started inside the 10......TM comment was well we were inside the 10 so we knew that wasn't a good situation.....or something to that effect......REALLY.......that is the mentality of the best QB NE has? I didn't buy it the last couple of years and I REALLY don't buy it now. TM is probably a great kid and gives his all.......but that doesn't make him our best option (no pun intended). He isn't a confident leader and it shows. Again, for any of you that have listened to TMs pressers with a puzzles look on you face.....go watch TAs........you will feel much better about the state of our future and if we are lucky that won't mean next year.
  5. Now this is fricken funny and unfortunately SO true! LMAO
  6. Let me correct your post and say we were able to throw it 15+ yards with accuracy TODAY..........what happens in the future remains to be seen! And if Beck dialing it down is what created the flawless flow on offense TODAY, then maybe we should stick with that when TM comes back.....because there was a huge difference in the way the offense executed today vs the first 3 games this year.......maybe too much is being put on a 4 year starter despite those 4 years of experience that are so intangible. Yeah, Im not afraid of a controversy........I had to go there!
  7. So was Beck the genius behind todays great offensive performance? LOL Today made me realize this........SDSU aside (not much difference in talent between them and Southern Miss or Wyoming imo)......the play calling seemed different to me today.......so much throwing DOWN the field and not laterals to the sideline........is that because Beck called those pass plays because he knows TA and RK can make those throws with confidence and TM can't OR is it a read where the pass goes and these guys actually found the guys open down field and had the guts to make the perfect throw? Whatever the reason......I agree with what BO said in the presser, this is as good as this offense has looked this year by far. No clock running down and calling time out at the line......no bad plays that put us in 2nd and 3rd and long.......the answer to the OP question is simple for me
  8. Alot of good stuff in this thread..........alot of which I agree with. Ill just say TM is the PERFECT QB that makes me feel indifferent......which is a bad thing. He isn't terrible for the most part, but he isn't close to great for the most part either. He is "serviceable" and has his advantages when healthy. I will say this about all GREAT QB for Nebraska or any other program..........GREAT QBs have IT............it might not be the fastest speed, it might not be the stongest or most accurate arm......BUT THEY KNOW HOW TO WIN! Its a mental thing to me.........the inner confidence that you are better and you WILL lead your team to victory regardless.......its the QB IQ......regardless of what the offensive system is.......which makes the confidence grow because you are total comfortable with what is going on and YOU KNOW it will work. TM HAS NEVER HAD ANY OF THESE QUALITIES IMO. Yes he has had MOMENTS of being very good but in the next quarter looks lost. I just don't think he has the mental WHATEVER to take the team over the top and a GREAT QB has that (even though he might have less physical attributes) The "IT" factor is missing when it come to TM......I've said it in a 1000 threads, but it's true.........Frazier had IT coming out of his ears......Turner Gill had "IT" to a point.....even Scott Frost had "IT" to a point (remember that crazy MizzU game!)..........I don't know if TA has IT......but I know the bit I saw of him in the SM game made me tingle and I haven't felt that for a REALLY long time when it comes to NE QBs........hope the kid has a good week......it might be something special.....it might be IT!
  9. Good stuff.....but I think AC comments are very valid.....and this is a guy that LOVE BP! He can still see reality.........when your defense is continually getting kill on BIG games.......there has to be a convo happening.......BO is a defensive guy according to ALL parties........so if the defense keeps melting........the convo has to be brought up. Also like what he said about TF.......I know many people blow off Tommie but the guy, at the end of the day does live and bleed NE red........and it hurts him and many other NE classics just like it does the rest of us. He has NO official title with UN.......so what he says is NOT CHECKED by the university.......which many might not like.....but it is from the heart. I don't get the posters who HATE on these former "glory" players who voice their opinion.......they are only doing it because they KNOW what it takes to be great and what needs to be done to be great......and they are trying to pass THAT on. Good interview...........BO doesn't hate NE like Calley did.....but he has to step up and make a turn
  10. Having fun in a sport is a huge plus when playing it.......WINNING is much more fun than losing...........2 + 2 = 4..........the quicker Bo figures that out, the quicker he will figure out what is wrong with this team and how they could have more fun!
  11. This thread is a mute point......TM will start with a boot on his foot!!!!!!!!! He's the man, haven't you heard BO? In case TM comes down with a case of paralysis over the next two days.........I wanna see TA start and play ALOT. All this stuff about "unpolished" and "no game experience"..........I couple of VERY GOOD freshman qbs come to mind that didn't have either one of those either and they are historical characters in Husker football because THEY GOT A SHOT. I say let TA go for it .......that is if TM is on his death bed and can't get that darn boot on!
  12. Why are you still a fan? You lost all faith, remember? Apparently you didn't read my last line! Im a fan because I have no other choice.......born and bred 40 plus years Nebraskan.......but I won't bury my head in craziness that makes no sense......I didn't do it with the Calley experience and I won't do it now. I have all the faith in the world that this program can be GREAT.......if the right regime is in place.......but this regime isn't it. WHY ARE U A FAN.......what a ridiculous question......maybe you need to ask yourself the same question............I KNOW why I am a fan..........tell me why you are?
  13. This, pretty much. I couldn't even get that mad during the game, because I half expected it and I've grown numb to it due to it happening in practically every big game we play. I don't think there was anything in particular about this game, it's just that it's happened too many times. AMEN! That is my point exactly.........MOST of us that don't have our head buried SAW this coning durint the game. Not that it doesn't frustrate me to no end......but IT DOESNT SURPRISE me.;.......this has been going on for several years......there is a "common thread".......that seems to hate Nebr fans.................
  14. Bye Bye Big XII..........have fun with that ostrich experiment! I live in reality......it's really pretty clear. Ill see you on the other side! GO BIG RED........God willing!!!!!!!!!
  15. Me too. I felt the same way about that missed sack. I bitched about it for about 10 minutes straight, and just had a gut feeling that we were doomed after that. And we weren't WRONG!!!!!!!!!! So if us as fans can see and feel that......we aren't the insane ones LOL But I guess we are "fair weather" fans because we dont by the crap........whatever
  16. No this is not the primary reason us "fans" are mad......we are mad because this coach can not win a relevent game to save his butt.......he can't even make them a battle......he gets his butt kick.......THAT is why we are mad This ignorant stuff that came out today is just icing on the cake for those of us who have totally lost faith in this regime because of what has happened ON THE FIELD> Really? So we're going to use a tape that was recorded two years ago to try and make a point about a topic unrelated to that? GOT IT. You REALLY think that recording from 2 years ago is "unrelated" to what is going on now......REALLY????? LMFAO THE SAME EXACT THING IS GOING ON 2 YEARS LATER..........AS I SAID IN ANOTHER POST, ITS THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY..........THINKING the result will be different! LOL If you watched that game on Saturday and didn't get a knot in your stomach in the 2nd quarter then you are lying to yourself.......the comment from a mere 2 years ago is VERY relevant.......because the same mess was happening then. Us "fair weather" fans had the same knot in our guts back then........and WERE WE WRONG? LOL
  17. No this is not the primary reason us "fans" are mad......we are mad because this coach can not win a relevent game to save his butt.......he can't even make them a battle......he gets his butt kick.......THAT is why we are mad This ignorant stuff that came out today is just icing on the cake for those of us who have totally lost faith in this regime because of what has happened ON THE FIELD>
  18. it really is this simple for me.....the definition of insanity is................ the same actions......the same results......AND YOU EXPECT A DIFFERENT OUTCOME? Im not insane and I knew right when that sack was missed at the end of the 2nd q that we were done.......I KNEW the outcome because I am not insane LOL I DON'T expect a different outcome, which although is sad and makes me a Fing fair weather fan, but it also makes me sane!!!!!!!! LMFAO
  19. If this would have come out in 2005 and it had been Callahan saying it.......EVERYONE would have called for his head and rightly so........why is BO any different than Calley? Both demean the fanbase and the state.......but Calley had a bounty on him and for some BO was right in his thoughts? LOL TO never had any of these embarrasing moments escape on tape......neither did Solich for that matter..........imagine that. Bo is a cocky coach from the background that the Stoops come from........when it works for them everything is great.....but is the going gets tough it's always SOMEONE elses issue Ive moved on already
  20. That is a good read.........and funny that artical mentions some of the greats from NE FB aka Jason Peter and Tommie (both who have been ridiculed by message board people for just being Old school haters)........but what those haters have said is SO true and is crystal clear and is a definite problem. This whole issue still comes down to "heart" for me.......it's that simple. HEART seperates the good players from being a GREAT player.........and NONE of the current roster players seem to have HEART. Some call it arrogance.......confidence........whatever...........it's what is needed to be a GREAT football players......and the kids on the field today don't have it. Funny how NICE CALM COOL PERFECT GUY Tom O could find these players with this nasty type of HEART LOL It's ironice but he did.......Tommie F.....Lawrence P.......the Peters Bros..........they all had that overly confident "I will kick your butt" mentality and soft spoken Tom O found them...........and the hot headed fiery Pelini finds wimps......GO FIGURE!
  21. No. Not that. but kinda at the fact that he came crawling back when it didnt work out just in time to be the star predecessor to Frazier. He did a tremendous job as a qb, and was an incredible competitor, but as a person, I always had some question marks on him. I attended a high school that competed against Wood River in everything. As a kid, I saw plenty of Scott and his dad Larry between football and basketball games over the course of 3 years. Two words defined them-excessive arrogance No. Not that. but kinda at the fact that he came crawling back when it didnt work out just in time to be the star predecessor to Frazier. He did a tremendous job as a qb, and was an incredible competitor, but as a person, I always had some question marks on him. I attended a high school that competed against Wood River in everything. As a kid, I saw plenty of Scott and his dad Larry between football and basketball games over the course of 3 years. Two words defined them-excessive arrogance This is totally what I felt about SF too......could stand his high and mighty self LOL (see my post a page back LOL).......but the Bowl game press conference did it for me......he got NE the split NC with his speech.......I have no doubt in my mind, that pushed many voters over the top. And as far as "excessive arrogance" goes.........MOST of the BEST players have it and it shows on the field unlike what we saw on Saturday. I keep fussing about how this team has no HEART.....no GUTS......they just lay down.........ARROGANT/CONFIDENT people DON'T JUST LAY DOWN..........let me name some "arrogant" players for NE...........Tommie Frazier.......Laurence Phillips......The Peters Bros........Irvin Fryar.......Mike Rozier.............they all had an "arrogance" to them and I think that is A MUST in football! If you don't have total confidence in youself and your team ,........you sound like TM and the rest of the team does at the press conferences after these loses.......uh uh.......I don't know.....uh.,.....uh/.........I cant quite say.....uh......uh........I have to watch the film to see............... Ill take arrogance and confidence over that mess anyday!!!!!!!!! As everyday humans go that trait isn't real pretty, but as an elite athlete goes.....you have to have that "it" factor that no one is gonna mess with you......and these NE players don't have IT
  22. Are you listening Shawn Eickhorst? Are you listening Shawn Eickhorst? Exactly.......jumping on the OP for comparing Calley to Bo is stupid.....that is not the point at all. THE POINT is Toms reason for the change.........and the reason that Tom stated in that quote is happening right at this moment and there is no argument that can dispute that......again IT NOT ABOUT THE NAMES OF THE COACHES INVOLVED........it's about this SITUATIONS involved. And if anyone can read that quote (despite the coaches name involved then this quote was taken) and not think TO could be talking about Bo......you are kidding yourselves........we are in the same exact place
  23. Wow this is a really long thread and I don't have time to read everything.....but this is MY take on Scott Frost..........couldn't stand the jerk when he came after Tommie, it was pretty clear to see that much of the team had an issue with him (the LP girlfriend blowup). I was at the ASU game in Tempe when ASU beat us and it was pretty clear the team had no love for this guy........so we lost that game......but then something happened and the year turned out "ok".......then the next year came..........and then everything was on the line after the bowl games and this kid I WANTED to hate......got in front of that mic and sold NE to the nation better than most could and really made them think about who they would vote for as National Champs......that speech by him after those bowl games still sticks in my mind......and apparently it got to alot of voters because we got a split they no one thought we would.......that had ALOT to do with SF post game speech. Then the kid tries the NFL.......not in Tim T fashion ....but in the fashion of give me a shot WHERE EVER! And he got it and took advantage of that shot! Now he is in deep with this Oregon offensive machine........I SAY GO GET HIM! Not as a HC but as a OC. Tom is gone, so if there is any beef there (which I think is overhyped to some point) it shouldn't be a problem now. The kid is a small town NEBRASKA kid despite all we have heard about him.........he has that loyalty in him if the U shows that they want him.....I think he's here. Again.....that speech after that bowl game has forever sold me on Scott and his heart and passion for this program. Pay him top dollar to be OC .......no brainer for me.
  24. Where do you see it? I'll try to google it and post it as an edit if I find it..Nice to see another Husker in AZ on the board and sorta miss the stated locations under our user names we used to have. Its called Tommies Xs and Os...........I follow him on twitter and he posts the link weekly when the show is up.........usually an interesting watch because he is not a sunshine pumper and usually speaks he mind LOL
  25. I have been around a long time as I alluded to watching Turner Gill first hand. Armstrong showed better timing and skill on the old school option in his short time on the field than TM in his entire career. Clearly that would give our run game a boost and the other team something else to worry about. Something legit that works, you fail to prepare for at your own risk, and you are hard pressed to address on the fly via halftime adjustments. Making teams prepare for both TM and a legit option threat QB makes far to much sense for Bo to figure out until at least game 10 or so this season, if we're lucky. So I don't advocate benching TM fully or all of the sudden, I think it starts with a timeshare. If TA plays lights out great, maybe he wins the job. We have nothing to lose either way. I don't think TM gives up, he's just not good enough plain and simple. Totally agree Knox.......that little bit I saw of TA was pretty fun . As far as the poster that says it's not the 80s or 90s and the option won't work............LOL In the 80s and 90s people were saying NE ran this "simple offense" but no one could stop it with the right leader. Now with everyone so IN LOVE with the spread/hurry up offense.........no offense has any idea how to defend an option offiense.....they can't practice against it let alone defend it in a real game against a team who is good at running it ..........that is the point.......which was pretty much the point when TF ran it to perfection in the early 90s. The whole world fell in LOVE with the fast RUN AND GUN that the Floridas had......UNSTOPPABLE..........LMFAO.......we all know how that went. How do you think FL practiced agaist a option team.........think their scout team did the REAL thing justice? I guess not......same thing would happen now if/since we have a great option QB. Bring on TA and and OC that knows the option.......maybe Turner Gill or TF himself? LOL
