  1. Yeah it's good to compare Nebraska to a 6 wins, 7 losses Texas from last year. Seems legit. I'd like to see him run through this DB: That's a high school picture of our starting Safety. He's in his 2nd year in the program and ran a 10.3 100 Meter Dash in high school. I'm pretty sure he won't run through him. Is he the one on the left or right? I've never seen him without his helmet on.
  2. Well aren't you a spunky fellow That's just gross. But funny too.
  3. From the spring game until now it seems like the most important thing the coaches are focusing on in the QB area is the deep ball. TA has the arm strength to get it done, he just needs to work on his accuracy. It makes me wonder what the total offense will look like though. Will it be mostly play action off the run to set up the deep ball?
  4. Uhh . . . what's an Ivory Torpedo?
  5. Plenty of fanbases still show up to games when their team is struggling. A .500 season doesn't mean you should have 12 people at your game. Even Purdue fans show up to watch Purdue lose. Took the wife to Purdue to watch the Huskers a few years ago. I would say it was 75% Nebraska fans to 25% Purdue. They were selling tickets for $2.
  6. Because Kentucky is in the SEC.
  7. "Wouldn't It Be Crazy If We Went Undefeated This Year?" I like to hang on to that little bit of hope, no matter how ridiculous.
  8. Like the optimism here. Hope you are right.
  9. Thanks for the "notice." Will watch the game a few inches closer to the TV to see for myself how much Kaaya has improved.
  10. I partake in hammering away at the SEC and the obvious bias skewed their way by the media probably as much if not more than the average hater. For me it is enjoyable, and I get quite a bit of pleasure out of it. I never understood why there are so many out there, especially Husker fans, who defend the hype and bias shown to this conference. It is true, the SEC is just like any other conference. They have a couple of really good teams, followed by some average teams, and then the cellar dwellers. Every year, this conference shakes out just like every other conference. The only difference between them, and everybody else is that the world wide leader in sports entertainment struck a deal with them. It is in their financial interest for the SEC to dominate all others, even if it is not real. eSECpn has fooled a fair amount of people though, because they own the perception of this conference. And if their perception is biased or skewed, then it is only natural that a fair number of people will believe it. For the rest of us, get your fill of SEC hate here: SEC Exposed
  11. I think a lot of people, including Sam, are drawing off past experiences. This situation is eerily similar in a number of ways to when BC took over. Everyone is hoping that it won't be like that, myself included.
  12. Which means absolutely nothing until some games are played and we see really how good these teams are. 10 SEC teams in the top 27??? BS. But, some SEC teams are going to get bumped because they "beat a ranked SEC team" when, in reality, the team shouldn't have been ranked at all. It's how they stay ranked, that and the eSECpn media super hype that happens which poisons the water before the season even starts.
  13. I'll take a 9 point win. Heck, I'll even settle for a 1 point win. Hope Sagarin is right.
  14. I think it is interesting that Burtch is not getting his scholarship renewed. Although he was injured all of last year and sat out in the spring, he was set for this year until he had another injury. He is only supposed to be out 2-4 weeks though, unless I missed something. Until that injury he was supposed to provide depth at receiver and have significant playing time. Now I wonder if he will even see the field this year.
  15. You make a good point here. He probably should have been fired after that Iowa game. Eichorst had plenty of ammo with the leaked tape and Bo's rant after Iowa. I just don't think Eichorst wanted to rock the boat too much in his first year as AD. I also think he may not have gotten Riley if he did it then, and we could have someone totally different. Who would we have ended up with?
  16. You think that is bad, I went to a 7-9 year old pee wee football game last year. This thing was 11 on 11, full tackle football. There were a couple of "big hits", but nothing major. But, when those "big hits" happened, the parents on the sidelines were jumping around, yelling, and cheering like it was a college or NFL game. I know football is a violent game, but those were small kids. Makes me glad that my kid shows no interest in playing football. I don't mind a violent game, but the way some parents act out there is despicable. Big hits are apart of the game and is what makes it exciting. That is why people cheer at them, same with fights that happen. Just look at hockey. I don't see anything wrong with cheering on a big hit or a rumble. Don't take this the wrong way but people that get upset about big hits and fights are probably the same that push for everyone to get their hands raised whether they win or lose. I understand big hits are a part of the game. It was weird seeing parents of young children react that way for a "big bit". I find nothing wrong with competition and winning & losing. It's just weird to me to celebrate the violence of a sport at that young age. It's just not for me. I agree here. I am going to start my sons out in flag football when they get old enough. If they are lucky and their mother lets them, they may be able to put on pads in high school.

Last I checked fighting was not a part of football. Inflicting physical violence upon another person with the intention of injuring or causing bodily harm should not be condoned or celebrated. This is not hockey, boxing, mma or whatever else. It is football, and in football violence is done in a more civilized way. Don't get me wrong, I love a big hit as much as the next guy, but when a fight breaks out, that's too much.
  18. I have never been to an NFL game or practice or anything, but this video bothers me. It's not the fact that the players got into a scrum either. Sometimes that stuff happens in football. It's the fans at this practice who seemed to be elated about the whole thing and were cheering them on to fight that really bothers me.
  19. Rushing numbers Turnover % Comp percentage Total Yards Total TDs Because his strong suit is running instead of passing, I think TA is probably doing his best when his rushing numbers are good. Turnovers either through INT's or fumbles are killer. I think those two are tied for the top spot.
  20. I never thought of TA's development tied to the WR's. Nice insight there, hopefully they will heal up and his execution will improve.
  21. Good luck to your son. Hope he gets the job.
  22. I am interested to see how the depth chart changes. I am thinking their will be a few surprises. It almost feels like there is still a small faction of holdouts for the old system and ways of doing things.
  23. Maybe he was expecting more out of the defense than to surrender 8 TD's and give up a bunch of big plays. It will be interesting to see how this team comes out against BYU.
  24. Take a deep breath . . . and then just admit it . . . Riley made a mistake. It's OK. No one can be right all the time.
