  1. Funny. I haven't made any preseason predictions for a while now. You can count on us losing at least one or two games we should win and maybe beating one team we shouldn't since 2003. Just that statement alone should make every diehard, loyal fan cringe. We were once a program who did not care who was on the schedule. Now we auto assume that we can't compete with Ohio St, Wisky, Michigan, and Penn St.
  2. Being honest, Illinois kind of scares me tomorrow night. They had a bye week to study game film, watch Tanner Lee's eyes stare down receivers, Lovie is a decent defensive coach. Before we worry to much about beat Northwestern and Wisky, lets make sure we have enough fire power to beat the Illini. I think this could be a trap game for us. WE have had a rough, up and down two weeks. Illinois has been home watching this, and practicing. Illinois has maybe played at least one better team, and scored some points on them in defeat. Lets not think for one minute, this is a cakewalk.
  3. Woo hoo 6-6 bowl team, thats what we are striving for! We fired a Coach back in 2003 because we wouldn't settle for mediocrity. Thats all we have been since then.
  4. Funny, reminiscing about Bo's good ol'days. Thats what we have become. Our current coach always sucks, and the last one had better stats. I'm sure we had some doing that when Bo took over about Callahan.............NAH!
  5. We fired an AD because the football team stinks. We didn't fire the AD after Miles lost 19 games last season in basketball. We didn't fire the AD after our Volleyball did not win a NC. The guy is done after this season barring a miracle. That miracle is beating either Ohio St or Penn St. Not losing to Minnesota or Northwestern Wisky and Iowa? I think 8-4 record Riley has a 50/50 chance at remaining. 60/40 could be more accurate. Odds say we go at best 7-5. To obtain that we have to beat either Iowa or Wisky. This is why losing to NIU is non-sense for a program of our stature. Considering our injuries and other factors that are out of the coaches hands, maybe a 7-5 season is realistic for what they have had to work with on some tables. In my world, year 3, you have better recruits in place. You play true freshmen if need be (Gebbia) and at least try to put your best team on the field in order of talent, not experience. Open minded thoughts still lead back to a sub par season in a time when the B1G is moving ahead as a conference in talent and coaching.
  6. So, is it an assumption that Trev is the going to be the full time guy and Dave is putting in place that transition? Is this a coop from a standpoint of two heads are better than one strategy? Dave has been in New York for some time, and Trev has been near and dearly close living in Omaha. So right now, we have two different sets of eyes evaluating the team going forward. Grasping at straws, but in all seriousness, I don't understand the interim tag for only 60 days. Those 60 are up the Sunday after Black Friday..................?
  7. Rimmington is a good temp hire. This is somewhat a surprise that he doesn't want the gig full time, but interim only. Fresh set of eyes, view points and an understanding of the landscape of football in general is needed. I agree with who ever mentioned that they have a full time AD they want and are waiting for the transition phase to take place. As far as moving forward with a new coach, thats all up in the air. The time line does say that the new AD would make that decision based on what happens during Rimmingtons time here. I am guessing that is a fair move for both the school and Dave.
  8. Lets assume that Adidas is gone, like Eichorst. So far the schools are not in near the mess as assistant coaches are right now. Adidas is in farther than the schools other than Louisville. Cards are headed towards SMU type sanctions.
  9. Frost should be considered. I have posted for Frost alot on here or different thread. He just seems to be the best fit right now. We are down. We are seeing what alot of programs have had for decades and it sucks. I watch KU from afar, and wow, that football program can't find a win or buy one. They may never have a program because they are not a football school. We are a football school. We have been a football school, now in a football conference. I think we wait for too much longer to hire Frost, he will be at a different school in a power 5 spot. Landscape of football says that. Look out at possible spots right now. K-State will have an opening soon. (he coached there 1 year) UCLA will have an opening soon. Texas A/M will have an opening soon. Thats just 3 jobs that might be on the job front coming in the next few weeks. Who right now will be at the top of those lists? Frost will be in the Top 2 of all of those jobs. Chances are, he takes one of them if offered. That why I think the time is now to go out and get him locked down.
  10. I am not against Riley as much as I am for us becoming a constant threat to win a division. We are in year 3 of Riles and his domain. We are now reversed back to losing games we should win. We are not competitive when it matters on national tv once again. I think that its time we stop with all the experiments in coaching hires and go home. Go find that home town product to bring back the tradition. I don't care about who that coach is right now. Our next AD, must be that. We can't keep hiring foreign people that don't know or bleed Husker red to rebuild this program. It starts with hiring an AD with some Husker background. All those fancy names out there, well they don't care about this more than just for the money that is involved. Money can't fix this right now. We have to have individuals that care first about the program, second about there financial log. Eichorst thought that Riley could maintain 9 wins per year like BO, but have a better reputation. He whiffed badly. He is gone because of it. FYI- as long as we fire coaches and hire them, we are going to compare them to one another. So yes, Bo and Riley will forever be linked in Husker history. Its hard not to compare them.
  11. The kool-aid is cooking. If we go out and win the west, kudos to the players.
  12. Optimism is a great thing to have. I don't know one poster on here that wants the players to feel irrelevant or not wanted. I don't know if we even want them to fail necessarily. The issue is this staff appears incapable of producing a constant winner. In my opinion, the B1G is getting better top to bottom. We are gravitating to close to the bottom teams right now. Actually the bottom feeders are getting better, and we are where we were 5 years ago. This is why the program is not willing to wait any longer for progress in such mi-nute levels.
  13. I just think the word "toxic " is misused. I don't really care. Use what ever word you want to describe this program and it might be close to right.
  14. I wouldn't call Riley toxic either. I would call him easy going, laid back, and just not accustomed to demands. Oregon St could care less if they won more than 7 games a season. They only cared about the Oregon game in most years. Riley should go back to that environment as well. i do not, will not, can not think this guy is toxic. Is Riley better than Bo for the program? Thats all debatable. Riley is a better person, maybe a better recruiter. Bo had a better winning percentage, and did win more here. Bo had a toxic image here. Bo rubbed the wrong people the wrong way. Honestly, I don't know if Riley is a better recruiter. Numbers say that he is, but when your talking about ranked 25 or 35, is that really a big leap in improvement? Your talking about one player have 4 stars or 5 stars.
  15. Just like Callahan, I think Riley looks at the Big 10 like a bunch of hillbillies. These coaches with pass first mentality don't understand power football. I truly think they don't want to understand power football either. For crying out loud, Riley was a safety/corner at Alabama under Bryant. He knows, or should know what power football is. Its one thing if your Nebraska of the 90's and just run it down peoples throat regardless if they know its coming, because they can't stop it. We pass it on at every 2nd down, until Lee throws a pick 6, then we will run it for fear of getting ran out of town. I said the same things about Cally and his offense. You could predict almost each play before they ran it based on down and distance. I see some similarity with this guys as well. Its a west coast brain function. Instead of beating you and laughing about, they want to outsmart you and then laugh because one of their plays worked!
  16. In an attempt to remain more positive, Did you see how Frost's team beat Maryland!
  17. I don't think I ever said that anything I said was gospel. Just look at how things have developed in the last few days and continue to watch things unfold the rest of the way. WE will see who is right come December!
  18. I voted 3-5. I think we can beat Illinois. We will pick up two more wins somewhere. Some of these teams are only 1 deep on the depth chart with good players. I think that Northwestern, Purdue, and Minnesota on our schedule we will get two of those three. Honestly, if not for injuries, I don't know afte Illini we win another game actually. Lincoln is still Lincoln and that will affect some teams yet coming in. Not many but some will play intimidated. Even the thought of us changing QB's keeps me from picking more than 3 wins. No matter who would be next, they haven't had the reps in practice like Tanner has had for the last 6 months.
  19. Right. All I am saying is that short of winning the West, this staff is gone. You don't fire the AD, who hired the Football coach, in September, if your not planning on firing the football coach already.
  20. I find it almost aggravating that so many are thinking that Riley has a shot at keeping his job still! Reality is we fired an AD in September. We will be firing a Head Coach come November and hiring a new staff come December. Its the timeline of this program. It is what Bounds and Green didn't say that suggest this is coming. If they even had 1% faith in the football program, Eichorst wouldn't have been fired already. That rock you have been under for all these years must have been one heavy of a SOB!
  21. We are looking for our next coach. This smoke and mirror job is only on those bleeding hearts who can't bare to see us starting over again or even possibly with an Ex-Husker like Frost. For those who are seemingly thinking that Riley even has a chance at staying its funny to even imagine that. We fired a 9 win coach to hire Riley. If by some odd reason Riley wins 9 games, I think he is still out. We are not winning on the stage. That stage is getting smaller and our chances are getting narrower. This whole Black Friday thing come down to us being irrelevant as a major player in conference. We have Michigan, Ohio ST and Penn St right now being our frontrunners, with Iowa, Wisky and others garnering more attention right now. If I were these other teams right now I would want more as well. We haven't kept up in the national spot light.
  22. Does it really matter though? Our offensive mind set is to pass the ball 70% of the time. Use the run for play action. We are so predictable. Just wait for our next game and see if we continue with our trends. We do have good enough running backs to run 70% of the time and pass the other 30%. Instead we will give Tanner 70% chances at throwing to the other teams instead. Interceptions are going to happen, but his are so predictable the defender is at full speed intercepting and running the other way for 6.
  23. On the contrary, I like both backs when they play. I think even Bradley has some good in him.
  24. Ozigbo is a good back, but seems to me to get winded easy. Granted, he runs hard, and runs thru contact hard, but always seems to me to have to come out after a good run. Takes himself out that is. I think he is not playing because he is not in shape. I think Wilbon is good fresh too, but they seem not in shape to me. Football playing shape that is. Ive got wonder about every aspect of our program right now. We seem out of shape, not as strong, and just not physically in condition. Is our Strength and Conditioning not what it should be as well. This also affects all of our programs as well. Baseball, basketball and others.
  25. Heres what I see in a nutshell. We have a lame duck coach and staff. We fired the AD after a bad loss to a non power 5 team. The staff knows is not coming back next year. So we have a lame duck staff, and players that will have no passion for playing for them much longer. Its a matter of time before we fire Riley. Guessing that after our next embarrassment we move on. We have recruiting in a limbo. Honestly, we need to move forward soon. We can't have this limbo hanging over this program. I don't care what others think about our talent, were lacking in all positions. We have no depth. We have very little in skilled position players that can compete against other elite athletes from other teams. Please don't tell me that Riley has a chance to prove himself yet! WE all know that is window dressing for the moment. Bounds and Green can see that this program is in a downward spiral. My issue right now is that the lame duck approach isn't going to benefit the program.
