  1. Our defense is what it is. Good scheme, well coached, but still subpar athleticism across the board. Works great when opposing quarterbacks aren’t good enough to stress it , but looks pedestrian with competence back there. Line not talented enough to create pressure straight up consistently and secondary not talented enough to match up straight up. Execute an average offense against us and the cracks peak out.
  2. Fair enough, although. Without any semblance of offensive starters, I have a feeling we don't match up well with any team who puts a defense on the field. This team is so screwed up it is time to just say F it all, get dirty, have fun and laugh at the ride. If Rhule and Co find a way to etch out any more wins this season, I feel real good about our chances of competing for titles w/i the next 5 because that is some miracle worker level coaching.
  3. Good for you. I hope you're wrong. I'm 0-0 when caring enough to bet against you.
  4. Ratings don’t mean anything. Unless they are rated lowly and decommiting, then they are fact.
  5. He can. John Cook proves that kids will come here. You just have to be good.
  6. Scott showed him this new way as a parting gift to set us back an additional two years.
  7. Bill Callahan for starters. But seriously, I mean, what kind of question is this? I'm not even paid 100$ a year to know the ins and outs of O-Line coaches, but there are guys that are paid, say, 5 million dollars a year to be up to speed on these things. They should understand when trying to sell a vision of a great development on an otherwise horrible line, you have to bring your A game.
  8. There is no "vision" involving Raiola. He's completely unproven and he's doing horribly so far in his 2 year trial. He may be the best O-Line coach in the country but he doesn't fit what NU needs for an O-Line coach right now. We need a proven name to convince good O-Line man to take that HUGE chance. Can't even believe we are trying to make a go of it with Raiola.
  9. But why? Like, not to be a punk but he is currently an NCAA Div 1 quarterback. To say, “Let’s get him a quarterback coach to help teach him how to throw correctly and with any degree of accuracy,” is hilarious to me. That’s basic QB skills. Should have them by now. That’s not a thing we “start developing as a Jr in college,” thing. There are thousands of high school quarterbacks that need less than that and will never get a sniff at this level. He’s literally a ground up build at this point and I have NO idea why he’s on a scholly here. He could spend 2 full years just developing reads and field vision and still be lacking. That doesn’t even start to address his innate flawed mechanics which also would take multiple years to correct. He’s out of time for NU to save him as a QB. He’s a guy we use only because there is nobody else and cutting him in the off-season was not the way Rhule was gonna win the state. He can transfer down a few levels and have loads of fun running around and slinging yard ball for Wayne. From NU’s perspective, he’s an easy guy to recruit over this off-season and that is the path you take because such fewer resources needed to put into the next guy who already knows how to not throw sidearm and get the ball within 4 yards of his receiver. It’s business and Haarberg leaves you little upside return on investment at this time.
  10. Yep. And we will see that in 13 days when we get Simms back. For better or for worse.
  11. I’d argue he is. We’ve had QB’s that are pure runners. We’ve had QB’s that are pure passers. As a pure runner he’s far down the list of pure runners. As a pure passer he’s bottom. As a guy who reads a defense deciding to pitch or keep or which route is open and best to throw to, he’s near the bottom of all time as well. I literally CAN NOT think of a QB in the past 35 years of following Husker football I think is legit worse. Really do like the kid. Needs to be a taysom hill type guy. Not THE guy.
  12. It’s not correctable in 2 weeks, that’s for sure.
  13. Satt has done an incredible job working an offense with a lame duck EVERTHING. Haarberg is the worst QB in NU history. Not sure how you can say “just call better passing plays,” for a QB that can’t literally not pass. Satt may prove to be wretched, but it’s not fair to blame him for not having magic to overcome ineptitude at the QB position.
  14. Just need one quarterback and it’s a functional unit. Iowa
  15. I learned there isn’t one guy on our roster that would make Michigan’s 2 deep. Not sure how to fix it but I suppose that’s why I only make 55k/year.
  16. I will have to keep imagining what it might be like to follow a good team.
  17. Probably doesn't really matter much which one is chosen, it's not like we use either position anyway.
  18. Just coming back to this because I don't want to appear like I'm just throwing out drive by pot shots and not interested in actual discourse because I am. It is also a tough place for me to be in to argue against Haarberg because he is everything we Nebraskan's love in a QB. I want him to beat the world, truly I do. He's a long way from being able to do that, though. All I said is that he is not a Div 1 QB, which I maintain, he is not. How that compares to Sims, or where Haarberg will be in a few years, or how he would be in a different offense with a different team, matters not to me. The fact is. the kid we've seen head the team for the past few games can not throw an accurate ball, can not quickly read defenses, can not scan the field well, can not hit a deep route. He can not be a difference maker at the position, in fact, he is a liability currently that we have to scheme the hell around his multitude of weakness'/ Surely he can improve with time and hopefully become a Div 1 QB, that I don't know, but as it stands now, he is not. Its a glaring issue with the team, currently, along with many other glaring issues, so I don't hate the guy nor am I upset about how great he is handling himself having been thrown into this position, but if he is the best we have at QB, we will be hurting all season. And he could be....
  19. Not like he would have seen the receiver anyway nor would he have been able to put the ball in the right zip code.
  20. Haarberg sucks as a div 1 qb. The ONLY silver lining I see is that Rhule/Satt are the first coaches since the coaching carousel started that are not trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Would tack it up to solid coaching were it not also said coaches fault our qb/wr issues are so dire.
