  1. Like most people here I like the idea of letting a kid transfer if he loses his coach but other than that things need to be left alone. I find the idea of a free agency version of college football to be really damaging to the sport and just another nail in the coffin of the sport I used to love.
  2. Pre-Callahan so ineligible Edit: I mean, if someone wants to expand the post beyond it's initial scope nbd. Just explaining why.
  3. $5 says I'll have to listen to at least some of the basketball game on the radio like it's 1992 because the other game (whatever it is) will go long. #IHatePlayingSecond I hate BigTenPlus

It does happen quite often.  GBR!

  4. Yes for as long as I can remember the formula has been 2 or 3 gimmie's and 1 home and home. The only thing that's changed is whether we have 3 or 4 non-con games.
  5. Alvarez a former Husker patterned the Wisky program from top to bottom after Nebraska's. Sure it's a little more Big Tenish, but also makes the losses more painful. Being beaten by a team dressed in red that uses smash mouth football to wear down your defense.
  6. I think I may be the only person in the universe who doesn't mind this. Schedule wins if we can, I used to enjoy seeing future Huskers get playing time in mop up roles, or walk-on/other Huskers that never quite cracked the line up get rewarded with playing time. Yes it looks bad on a CFB resume, but we haven't lost less than 4 games since 2003, so I welcome that "problem". Sure we could be way better by then, but maybe playoff creep could have expanded to more teams by then, or more teams in the conference or college football and football in general is so watered down safety wise it's unwatchable or fear of CTE causes participation/interest to plummet, it may seem far fetched but so much is possible in ten years. As far as scheduling SEC, that's a two way street, they have to WANT to play us. It takes two teams to make a deal, and I don't think they're willing to negotiate.
  7. I keep hearing talk about trying to get the walk-on program "back" what would everyone's definition of "back" be? It's almost as nebulous as saying Nebraska is "back" Anyway, are we talking about sheer # of walk-ons? The effectiveness of those who do walk on? A sentiment held by many here saying that the walk on program "Will never be what it once was" so....what would be a reasonable improvement in your eyes? Personally I would like to see just an enormous roster and the almost mythical stories of what practices under TO used to be like come about again, but even at 105 that's 20 walk-ons, the article I read said Riley mentioned 135...whether or not it ever hit that I don't know. The only thing I DON'T want to see (and I doubt I will anytime soon) is seeing guys get cut who were walk-on's like when Callahan took over. I was still on Cally kool-aid at that point, but even then as the news interviewed guys leaving the stadium it made me pause.
  8. Yeah, my normally pessimistic gut is telling me he'll be more of a Pelini in his first year than a Callahan or Riley but I refuse to let my hopes up get out of control.
  9. We knew next year would be rough years in advance. Not a bad year to hit the reset button. I expect improvement. All he has to do is win five games to do that. What I want is a bowl game which would be two more wins than last year.
  10. I'm surprised to hear this. I didn't think Notre Dame let anyone dictate any terms to them, ever.
  11. I have no freaking clue. All I ask is that the player out there at QB gives us the best chance to win. With Frost I know that will be the case. I selfishly really wish the QBs we have now could find a way to be successful here. I really like them as people. I don't want them to feel forced out. I want them to think of their time here positively regardless of how things work out. If they do decide to transfer I hope their are no hard feelings and I hope they transfer somewhere where I can root them on. I.E. Not Texas, Colorado, Miami, FSU.... I also would like to see Darlington get a shot as he from my wife's neck of the woods and is a household favorite, even as a holder.
  12. IIRC Cosgrove and/or his family got death threats when things went south. But that was from crazy "fans" not from the media.
  13. Officially Christmas, Mickey has his hat on.

  14. And she keeps coming up in this thread. We sure are thorough.
  15. It doesn't surprise me I got it wrong. The only reason I knew about it was because it was talked about on here.
  16. Seems like I have to make this post every year. Last year it was Herbie giggling when asked about our legitimacy after going 7-0. We all knew we weren't world beaters but like clockwork at least enough people allowed themselves to get butt-hurt about it to make it worth his time. People are going to say trollish things about Nebraska, especially Nebraska Football. We're an easy target, like the bully who knows just what you're most self conscious about and makes fun of that. People know we take football very seriously and as long as we respond in force to the bait they'll keep doing it. In my lifetime we've been the team that can't win the big game, the team that only wins because we're a win at all costs team, the team that wins 9 games every year, gets blown out on national tv, the team that has too high expectations, fires 9 win coaches etc. Now we're the team that really wants Scott Frost so people are going to push that button. I don't watch college gameday, I don't understand it's appeal but some people like it and that's cool. What I don't understand is people who start firing off angry tweets when some former player or coach says something they don't like. Before this it was Denardo talking about ditching Blackshirts. I can't even be bothered to make sure I spelled his name correctly, he can think or say that about the Blackshirts, I didn't lose any sleep. It's their job to say stuff, that's all they do. If others hadn't been upset about it I never would have known. I watch football all day on Saturday from 11 am kickoffs until I pass out watching Pac-12 games. I don't need someone explaining what I just watched or what I'm about to watch. If that's you're thing that's cool, just please don't take the bait.
  17. Can't watch the TV broadcast, kinda glad. Listening to Pavelka call that three gave me chills.
  18. Maybe your'e right, just the general sense I was getting. And as far as disastrous coaching searches go, we can empathize. We got stood by Houston Nutt.
  19. I just can't get on board with throwing gas on the Tennessee fire. Yeah they beat us this time last year but before that we beat them twice (at least in my life time). I guess what I'm saying is to me they aren't Colorado, Miami, Texas etc. I think they have more in common with us then they don't. A once proud football program on long hard times. Also, I just don't like gloating before we officially cross the finish line. I'm just paranoid like that.
  20. My wife and family moved from Nebraska to Florida when she was about 12ish. She hated her time in Florida. My mother-in-law has said she misses the changing of the seasons and the humidity is brutal on your hair, also allergies never take winter off.
