  1. I am so confused. I thought we don't criticize the players.
  2. we are -9 on turnovers now. Or is that a prediction of our record in two more games???
  3. Illinois has over 330 yes rushing ... and counting. Against the last place rush defense in the conference.
  4. Purdue has more conference wins than we do or will. I, for one, am going to give them credit of being the better team yesterday and not simply assume that we should win because of what we used to do. Helluva game Boilers!
  5. Interesting article here by Sip. He hints that the only fan of Eichorst in the administration is Perlman, who is leaving in 2016. It appears we could potentially see another offseason of change. Fire SE tonight. Send a message. Your hire, your mess, you're fired. Good read. Depressing as hell though. Bottom feeding NU. from the article... Were his players, especially on the offensive and defensive lines, fighting as hard as they could? "I can't sit here and fault the effort," Riley said WTH? if the coach cant fault them for not playing hard, what does that say? he is a deer in the headlights. this is too big for him... Too big? He coached a bottom-tier Pac-12 program, certainly he can handle a bottom-tier B1G program.
  6. Just heard a discussion on Sirius College Sports Radio about the Miami job. The question was "can Miami return to what they once were..." The response was that as long as the U is in the 305 area code, such a fertile recruiting area, yes. That is our problem. It isn't necessarily the coach, but the system. We need someone who understands where we are and where we can recruit. Period. Maybe riley can, we just don't know yet. Maybe he can't.
  7. You could say the same for Nebraska. What matters is results not potential. Really? 9 wins last year and what, maybe 4 this year???
  8. Actually, it can be argued that even Kansas football is beginning to improve...Lots of bright spots on their squad and reason to think they will be better next year and the following year.
  9. At this point, we have to be honest with ourselves and admit that we aren't as good as say Wisconsin. They are at least as depleted as we are this year and found a way to beat us in our house. We haven't played near their level since we joined the conference. I don't think we should be comparing our program today with the Badgers, Spartans, Buckeyes, Nittany Lions or Wolverines. I just don't. Even Iowa and Northwestern have had success recently, at least as much as we have. We aren't succeeding in this conference. I think we ran away from Texas into an even worse situation. How are we going to recruit now? Our tradition? The kids we are recruiting weren't born when we were dominant. We don't get the extra practice and bowl exposure and have been passed by in our conference. The solution, in my opinion, certainly isn't to create a swiftly revolving door in our coaching staff. The marquee coaches already have dropped us from their radar. That would make it worse, much worse.
  10. So we should leave. Go back to the Big 12...right? That's where the rivalries, history and tradition are. We have to figure out recruiting, both players and coaches. Our schedule is NOT the issue. Our play is. The rest of the B1G doesn't care about us.
  11. I guess my point is lost in this crowd. Forget it. Sorry to bother you with my opinion. Last thought, fire this coaching staff after one season or less, and you might want to really consider the message that sends through the coaching community. The next one better be the second coming of Christ...
  12. Well you take a 12 win championship team and go ont to lose 12, you deserve to be fired. Riley is taking a 9-3 team and is on track to finish 4-8. The guy can recruit so he deserves another year. But if 2016 cant net 10 wind, I would be open to another try at getting our guy. Eichorst said we wanted to compete for titles and that 10 wins wasn't enough. Hope he stands by that. Who, exactly, is "our guy?"
  13. I am saddened by what I read in most of the threads here lately. We call ourselves the best fans in football all the time, yet the best fans wouldn't give up on their team. The best fans continue to support them, through good times and bad. Especially bad. It is becoming clear that we are a front-running fanbase. No different and certainly no better than anyone else. Front-runners are not fans. I will continue to support the Huskers because that is what a fan does. If you can't, I have no time for you.
  14. I don't think it's the uniforms. I really don't. We are just playing crappy.
  15. It is possible that we just aren't very good.
  16. i am afraid all they know, is what they been taught....that sh#t won't make anyone a better player. You have a good point. My feeling is if we tell them they are a powerful defense in the tradition of the Blackshirts of old, then we are validating their mediocrity. In a sense we are saying that we are content with how they are playing and willing to reward them for it. Same thing with the patches, it's like participation trophies and orange slices...it's ok guys, we still think of you as champions despite not having won a thing in forever. The names is just an attempt to make them think and play like a team again. That's all. None of that will literally change anything, except maybe the attitude that they play with. Maybe that is enough to start to reverse the trend.
  17. Time to take the patches off the front of the jerseys, suspend the blackshirt tradition unless and until it is earned and I would remove players' names from the back until they play like a team.
  18. 1957 we went 1-9. Went 2-8 in 1948 and 1951
  19. Are you watching Rutgers/OSU??? Granted it is early and scoreless, but, Rutgers does not look like a pushover.
  20. Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State are all going to a bowl. Michigan is 1 win away, Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota are 2 wins away. Meanwhile we are stuck with Rutgers. Unfortunately, we are headed in a very different direction than they are. Wisconsin has a good coach. They went into Illinois without their starting TB and TE, lost their C, QB and WR during the game and others stepped up.
  21. We fit in better in the Big 12. I wouldn't mind if we went back. I don't see us winning the West let alone the B1G any time soon.
  22. I learned that most of the people who post on here are fair weather fans who don't know how to stick with a team they "love" through the bad times and cling to memories of glory days that are irrelevant today.
