  1. Welp, there goes my Fresno State theory haha.
  2. I completely disagree with you here. If I'm Gebbia I'm looking at it as, I couldn't beat this guy out when we were on equal footing and as Martinez settles into an offense that appears tailor made for his strengths that gap is going to get wider and wider. Not to mention, every QB that gets recruited behind him will be better suited for what Frost and Co wants to do. To call him a team cancer is just plain uniformed.
  3. I certainly get your point here though I think labeling him as a quitter is a leap as Gebbia wasn't recruited to run this type of offense. I would be more inclined to your way of thinking if Nebraska was running a more pro style offense that was geared to Gebbia's strengths. This is really no different than when a company gets bought out, brings in new management and drastically alters job duties but keeps titles the same. Sure, you still may be 'xyz' job title, but your job duties have totally flipped and the biggest pieces of your job are no longer things you excel in. Would you stick it out even though you really like your co-workers, your new boss and the culture or would you find a new job that is better suited to what you excel at? I can't find the info off hand but is there a transfer rule criteria that if you no longer fit the scheme of the team you're on you can transfer with no penalty? Or, did I completely make that up in my head?
  4. There is no guarantee of this.
  5. I get where you're coming from but I'm not sure this is an apt comparison. It's pretty rare nowadays that one RB gets all the carries so if you've got talent, you'll get reps. Plus, you can always contribute on special teams and make an impact that way. If you're a QB and you're not the guy....especially when the other guy is a freshman...it's a tough road. I think @Mavric has mentioned this (and I agree with him), there can only be one QB on the field and whoever is the top dog is going to soak up a ton of reps.
  6. Ms take 2 of 3 against the best team in the NL West and lose ground because, of course, baseball. 31 games left...Ms probably need to go 21-10 minimum down the stretch to have a shot. Prepare your sacrifices to the baseball gods accordingly Ms fans.
  7. Hey @teachercd I changed BigRedBuster's for you per your request. We're here for you if you want to hang out lol. Usual stuff for me. Heading over to friends house to watch way too much CFB on his 4 TV degenerate setup.
  8. It's a fair point, honestly I don't know. I'm sure that playing on Astroturf all those years certainly didn't help matters.
  9. Not sure if this is the right place for it but figured this was pretty good to share. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/24440133/the-untold-stories-barry-sanders-record-setting-1988-season
  10. Not sure exactly where to put this but I'll start here.. Fun article that talks about Barry Sanders' magical '88 season. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/24440133/the-untold-stories-barry-sanders-record-setting-1988-season
  11. I feel badly for Bryant yet also commend him for taking the long view when it comes to his health. I'm sure we've all seen Earl Campbell's highlights. Unfortunately, we've also probably seen what Earl Campbell looked like post football.
  12. HOT TAKE ALERT--The Service Academies should be the only schools that are allowed to roll out alternate uniforms. They are so far ahead of anyone else it isn't even fair. These are just sick.
  13. Don't do it! Every time a fan cancels their tickets, Vals adds an extra layer of grease to their pizza at Memorial. Think of the old people!!
  14. Have to go fishing offshore to find 5.5. Bet DSI still has it but I noticed that it's the .eu site so I wonder if US players would even be able to get it.
  15. Mariners broom the Astros! Zunino hit a ball that would've literally gone out of the stadium. Big time series starting tonight against the As.
  16. Fun topic. I know it was a cassette tape for sure, maybe the c$%ktail soundtrack? I do distinctly remember taking full advantage of BMG and Columbia House with their 10 CDs for a penny promo or whatever it was. I loaded up on some awesome mid 90s R&B for sure!
  17. Durkin is done IMO. This is categorically worse than what happened to Beckman at Illinois and he got whacked.
  18. I think it depends on his subject in all honesty. I think a small part of him still enjoys twisting the knife into the fan base a little bit when things are going poorly. You could certainly make the argument that the fan base is a little more wounded when the team stinks and naturally will get perturbed. The thing is, I've never really enjoyed Dirk's Nebraska sports commentary as I watch so much of it on my own that I don't really need someone's take on things because I can see what is happening with my own two eyes. That being said, you give the guy 6 months to research a topic and access to the right people and he's going to weave a helluva story out of it. There's certainly some truth to your statement about maturing as well. The best thing he might've ever written is the story about the Kansas basketball friends. I'm not sure mid 20s Dirk can properly write that story the same way mid 30s Dirk with kids can. in the same vein, mid 20s me would've read that column and thought it was pretty good. Late 30s me reads that column, holds my loved ones a little tighter and makes me have some existential thoughts about life in general.
  19. This situation is rapidly turning into trying to watch a drunk hobo run a 3 card monte game. At first you look on in bewilderment as to what is going on, then you get confused as to what exactly is happening followed by feeling a little bit dirty about watching the whole thing and then finally giving up and going to get some nachos.
  20. Felix officially moved to the 'pen. https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2018/8/10/17673704/felix-hernandez-moved-to-the-bullpen-for-first-time-in-his-mlb-career
  21. I read it earlier this morning. Really good stuff from Dirk per usual. His long form pieces are always top notch.
  22. I don't mean to speak for @Danimal but his comment was made most likely because if Jackson wants to play in the NFL, there is an established route that Nate Boyer built. Boyer is a former Green Beret that walked on at Texas and became the long snapper for the team. The Seahawks gave him a look in 2015 and he was able to get a little bit of run in preseason but was unfortunately cut before the season started. I've included a link to his wiki bio as Boyer is a really cool story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nate_Boyer I'm a big Seahawks fan so I watched the Boyer story with quite a bit of interest to see if he would be able to make the team. When I saw that Jackson mentioned he was training to be a long snapper, I immediately thought of Boyer.
