  1. No I see it, and this shows exactly what I've been saying. There is talent everywhere. We can get it close, and we can get from far away. Why limit ourselves to the 500 mile radius? You expand that circle by just 200 miles. Hundreds of recruits come into play. But everyone says we can't compete with anyone, so let's stay in our little corner and sob, because we don't have enough recruits to pick from. Nebraska is a blueblood program. There should be no reason Auburn or Florida St. is anywhere close to Kansas and Oklahoma. But we sure as hell better be in Florida and Alabama trying to poach some of their recruits, because in the grand scheme of things Nebraska is a greater program than either of those two. (maybe not for the past 5-10 years, but we have a hell of a lot more to offer than either of those programs, if someone would just try and sell it) Nebraska USED to command the respect that Alabama did on the recruiting trail (did you notice how many Alabama stickers are spread all over the USA?), now the fan mentality is just sad. We can't compete, it takes to much effort to fly kids in. What about their poor parents coming to see them play? Can't bring kids in on gameday because it interferes with someone watching cartoons on Saturday morning.
  2. You can't just look at the home state's population and say that's that. The surrounding population near Michigan is way bigger. They get a lot of recruits from Ohio. Nebraska borders Iowa, North Dakota, Kansas. But what's the draw? Climates similar. Current prestige of the program is, well, equal I guess. Probably just my bias. But I guess I just dont see what Michigan has to sell. Why cant we compete with those guys in recruiting? Everyone just seems to write us off. Michigan's 500 mile radius vs ours is much different... 4 & 5 * guys signed by the B1G 4 & 5 * guys signed by Power 5 Data is from here: http://www.cornnation.com/2014/2/12/5404912/college-football-recruits-2002-2014-map-location I added the radius overlays. This is what I'm talking about. Even within that 500 mile radius there are a ton of recruits available to us, but we have got very few of them. (we haven't even tried for 7-8 years, especially if the "deal" with stoops was true concerning OK) Auburn is killing it in the southern section. Not to mention you expand that 500 mile radius to 650-700 miles that includes a SIGNIFICANT number of good players available to Nebraska. In other words quit with the "Nebraska can't get players, there aren't any within driving distance, woe is me attitude"
  3. Sigh...... smh Again, how easy is it to fly into Tuscaloosa, or Knoxville, Tallahassee, or ANY college town for that matter. Garbage and excuses. Self fulfilling prophecy, etc, etc. You can fly into Omaha, from just about anywhere for $200 on Southwest. It ain't tough. Man, you really don' t know d&ck. Nebraska as a state is just short of 500 miles across., bout 250 top to bottom. From Tuscaloosa to Atlanta it is right at 200 miles. From Tuscaloosa to New Orleans it is about 280 miles. That doesn't include all the small towns in between the big cities that all of the 4-5 star recruits that go to Alabama or LSU or Georgia live in. That is an easy drive to get to the game that starts at 2:30. I leave Atlanta at 8 AM I am in Tuscaloosa no later than noon. I can't believe you really don't think that makes a difference. Well, I'm glad you aren't in charge of the football program then. We might as well just say the heck with it, and just fold up the program. Last time I checked there are these things called airplanes, and they let people fly all over the place in just hours for a very low price.
  4. I do believe Carl burned several NCAA bridges, and probably won't be coaching at any NCAA school anytime soon (because he probably can't). Hence the resume being sent to a High School.
  5. it's really kinda laughable if you think about it. Regardless of prior connection to the guy or not. Bo had 1 top 100 committ in seven years. Riley's got one in a month. Seriously. And i was on the improved recruiting bandwagon, cuz it was improving, but it still wasnt good enough. And the excuses? Theyre garbage to me anymore. You look what Tim Miles has done, and that is the main reason for my dwindling patience for Bo's recruiting. There is no excuses. And obviously this guy gets it.I'm done defending Bo. But, let's not forget that he did have a very highly ranked RB committed before he was fired. Bo crapped the bed the first few classes. He picked it up the last few classes. This is why we have depth problems but the cupboard isn't bare.I said his recruiting was improving. He was in on and getting higher profile guys. But my point is that there was a band of excuses that although we were getting some good guys, our classes were still in the 20-30 range. There's no excuse in my opinion that we cant land top 10 classes. Bo's 2013 class was 12th on scout. So he was close. Callahan did a top 5 once. There's no excuse. I'm sorry, but looking back and being revisionist and backpeddling about it, yeah, Bo shoulda done better. Esp. in his later years. The classes shouldve been filled and the talent shoulda been better. it was just part of the inexperience factor of course. If Tim miles can come in and put together top whatever classes in a program with zero history, zero tradition, and some fancy ipads in the lockers, then there's no excuse why the football program cant do the same. They got ipads in the lockers too. We should be finishing more times than not top 15 recruiting class wise with an occasional top 10 and an occasional top 20ishMaybe I'm just a bit pessimistic, but I don't see how we can more times than not land a top 15 recruiting class. When you look at the southern schools and the coastal schools, they are going to year in and year out land higher classes than us. Then, look at the conferences. The SEC more times than not will land higher classes because their scholastic requirements are lower than the B1G. Exactly how many recruiting classes by TO were top 15? I remember a couple, but that's about it. This is one of the reasons Riley was brought into the program. We do need top 25 classes, but we also needed someone who could do more with less. From 87-96 he landed 5 top 10 classes And my guess is the other classes were all in the top 25, or even top 15. The whole mystique that TO did not pull in top recruits has been proven to be bunk time and again. Time to let go of the excuses and misconceptions.

  7. We need them. We are woefully thin at LB right now. It says up to 7, so I interpret that to mean if they can find 7 quality guys in a short time span, they'll take 7. Otherwise take 4-5. I would like to see a couple JC guys in the mix. 1 potential transfer 3-4 New kids 2-3 JUCO Or 1 transfer 2-3 New kids 2-3 grayshirts or walkons. Any number of ways to get 7 LBs in a class and not have them all in "one" class
  8. Just keep in mind. This is where they are TODAY. They may be in all sorts of different places tomorrow.
  9. This thought process needs to die a horrible death. Nebraska is NOT in a crappy area. Columbus is not a frickin nirvana either. Nor is Eugene for that matter, and they are bringing in top recruits. Do you think Tuscaloosa Alabama, is a thriving metropolis? Oh and Tallahassee Florida is just a shiny oasis in a swamp. This woe is me attititude that Nebraska fans have is absolutely shameful, and I'm sorry I have to relate to these types of comments from my fellow Husker fans.
  10. If one looks at the NFL there are very few "statue" qb out there. Almost every team has moved to a qb with some esapability. The only two great NFL qbs I can think of that are still playing and are considered statues are Manning and Brady. Every other starting playoff qb has some mobility, and some even have a lot of mobility This whole idea that a pro style offense is bad, needs to go away. 3 of the 4 playoff teams run some sort of pro style offense. Oregon is the only one that most would agree is "pass happy". We are not going to have that type of offense. Nebraska has had a 60/40 run pass over the past 7 years. I don't foresee that changing more than 5 percentage points to maybe 55/45.
  11. Agree if there was such a problem with the way ADSE has run the Department, why hasn't Miles mentioned anything, or Yori, or Cook, or any of the other coaches. For all of the smoke and fire that Bo talked about, we sure haven't seen any of that smoke from any of the other sports.
  12. I seriously feel bad for his family. If this is the way he is in public, how does he treat his family?
  13. And knows how to smile in front of a camera.
  14. FYI - if Frost were to come as an OC. Talk about a major case of 2nd string QB syndrome. Riley loses a game, and the catcalls will immediately come out that we need to fire him and promote SF. I'm thinking he is a bit smarter than that, and won't bring that into his staff
  15. And the stadium seats HALF of what Memorial holds. It truly is a Texas HS football stadium.
  16. Looks like a troll, smells like a troll... If you haven't been paying attention. Oregon St. <= Iowa St.
  17. Actually Alabama, and USC (twice) wanted to hire him as their coach, but he was loyal to Oregon St and wanted to stay.
  18. Some did, yep. This hire is pretty much unanimous that it is a great hire though. (again, except for a few butt hurt Husker fans, that can't look past W-L records)
  19. And yet everyone, except some Husker fans, are praising this hire.
  20. I hope to hell he actually studied and got his degree, as he will need it in the rough real world out there. No chance he plays football anywhere except maybe an arena team somewhere.
  21. This is downtown Corvalis. I'm sure recruits everywhere are jumping to get in on some of this action!
  22. That does ease my offensive philosophy nervousness a bit... I remember when Callahan was hired and people were creating these STUPID jpg's of red Husker jets depicting our new air attack..what a f-ing joke that was. If I see another one of those red Husker jets I will punch someone. It shouldn't. OSU ran an Air Raid the last 2 years. Reilly runs an offense that's throw first. You are thinking of Washington State with Mike "pirate" Leach. Make sure you know who we actually hired before bashing him, please.
  23. Do you think Oregon has more or less geographic disadvantages than Nebraska? Corvalis is a sh#t hole. Grandma Synder has a better recruiting advantage in Manhattan KS than Riley did in Corvalis Or.
  24. Yeah, the overreaction to this is a bit ridiculous. Most of it appears to be coming from the Bo fans, and not the actual Husker fans. While most of the Husker fans have gone from an unexpected "what?" to a more normal reaction of "this could be a great thing?"
