  1. My dad and uncle aren't renewing. Last year was their first year holding tickets. It has nothing to do with the team. It has to do with the seats that aren't wide enough for their rears, let alone their shoulders, and apparently they had some fairly lame fans sitting around them. Add to that the 2000 minimum donation on top if ticket prices they decided it wasn't worth it. They'll buy tickets to the games they really want to be at and sit somewhere they really want and come out way ahead.
  2. Probably overreacted a bit, but how exactly is saying, "without football, you wouldn't be going to Michigan" or whatever was said an effective recruiting tool? Especially when a student is being recruited by multiple teams? shouldn't you just tell Him how great he his and how much Michigan love him and would be lucky to have him? I Think they need to rethink their recruiting strategy a bit.
  3. Probably because you don't understand the concept as Ron Brown sees it, or for that matter, myself. There are what people are, and there is what people do. Ron Brown is black...he was born that way, he wakes up that way every day. Homosexual people are categorized by what they do. They wake up and do something that is homosexual like in nature...it's a choice. Obviously that plus 1 was a mistake. I just can't even and won't even. May God have mercy on your soul.
  4. I cannot understand how a black man could testify in favor of allowing discrimination for anyone. Wasn't religion used as an excuse by some to separate the races? Some extreme evangelicals still majorly frown upon interracial relationships. So that's all very weird to me. Arent you supposed to hate the sin but love the sinner?
  5. I am surprised that University wasn't knocking his door down, now that you mention it.
  6. Almost as big as if they are completely different people. Both have zero national titles and zero super bowl wins One didn't need a portion of its fan base to do a Google search to find out who he was. pI didnt. I'd say that would be more of an indictment on the greatest fans of college football than Mike Riley. I don't notice a lot of OSU games on TV each Saturday. I do enjoy college football, but I am only obsessive about the Huskers. I would say your average college football fan isn't going to watch Oregon State play unless it's against their favorite team. I certainly don't recall seeing much Beaver football on Gameday or The Wrap up Shows. I do remember seeing Jim Harbaugh in the Super Bowl. So I do think it's not unlikely that your average football fan outside of the PAC wasn't sure who Mike Riley was. Or if they did know the name and school, they didn't know much else.
  7. This. The Turmanator gives us a fun storyline from that year but he does not lead the Huskers to a national championship.
  8. I try not to get worked up about preseason rankings. I really do. But why on God's green earth is Georgia always ranked so highly in the preseason? I do not hold long term memory for much more than Husker Football, but when was the last time Georgia followed through on preseason expectations? It really grinds my gears.
  9. No I see it, and this shows exactly what I've been saying. There is talent everywhere. We can get it close, and we can get from far away. Why limit ourselves to the 500 mile radius? You expand that circle by just 200 miles. Hundreds of recruits come into play. But everyone says we can't compete with anyone, so let's stay in our little corner and sob, because we don't have enough recruits to pick from. Nebraska is a blueblood program. There should be no reason Auburn or Florida St. is anywhere close to Kansas and Oklahoma. But we sure as hell better be in Florida and Alabama trying to poach some of their recruits, because in the grand scheme of things Nebraska is a greater program than either of those two. (maybe not for the past 5-10 years, but we have a hell of a lot more to offer than either of those programs, if someone would just try and sell it) Nebraska USED to command the respect that Alabama did on the recruiting trail (did you notice how many Alabama stickers are spread all over the USA?), now the fan mentality is just sad. We can't compete, it takes to much effort to fly kids in. What about their poor parents coming to see them play? Can't bring kids in on gameday because it interferes with someone watching cartoons on Saturday morning. Why stop at 700? I hear Europe has some pretty good football players. Why start at 500? It's much easier to drive a 1 hour than 6. Nice strawman though. Well because, generally speaking, 500 miles is usually the point at which it is a reasonable drive for a weekend trip. Why are you a fan of Nebraska? Does it have anything to do with the proximity of the school? As someone who has driven numerous times from Denver to Omaha, that is about as far as anyone really wants to drive, and that last 2 hours is a total beating. Driving from Denver to Hastings (where my in-laws are) is much more manageable, but it isn't exactly fun.Is a trip that ends in Hastings ever really fun? I grew up in old H-town:)
  10. You do realize the new RB coach has more experience coaching RB's than Ron Brown does right?I missed where he also coached RBs @ UNLV. So he does have one season on RB. I stand corrected. Did you also miss the 3 seasons he spent at Oregon State coaching RBs? Nope. I must have thought it was 2 instead of 3. So Ron Brown's 4 years of Running Back experience are definitely less. And I already stated that. I just thought there would maybe be room to keep a guy who coached Rex and Ameer, and would be able to help ease the transition on the offensive side, at least a little. I don't even care for Ron Brown as a person bc of his passion for fighting against the civil rights of others. It actually makes sense to me now that Riley wouldn't keep him. He seems pretty liberal.

  12. In 2008 & 2009, had the Beavers beat the Ducks they would have won the conference. Thank you! I forgot there wouldn't have been a CCG until very recently.
  13. Especially considering the lack of actual Running Back experience his rb coach hire has.
  14. I am confused by this statement. When was it that they were playing for Rose Bowl?
  15. I've been curious as to why Oregon State suddenly seems to care about football. They are paying Andersen a million more than they were paying Riley. As soon as Riley leaves they announce a huge plan for facility upgrades. I'm not going to lie, that's part of what makes me nervous about the hire. Also a 61 year old is not an up and coming head coach, you know what he does, you know who he wants to work with, etc. That is why his hire is low ranking in my opinion. Chances are he doesn't stay coaching long enough to get the big turn around we Husker fans hope for.
  16. And see, I am a horrible pessimist. I see the lack of championships and the knowledge that many of them have spent the majority of their career at OSU or other small programs as a lack of Fire. At least that was my initial thought as to why Riley turned down some big name jobs In the past, bc he maybe he didn't have the heart of a champion. But I am probably and hopefully way off base there.
  17. I was jumping up and down too. I honestly can't believe the excitement I felt watching both of those games, along with watching the fb bounce off the uprights in OT for the Wiscy game.
  18. I don't care if the dude made the front page of the Kearney Courier, I want somebody that can effectively coach the offense... The Kearney, MO weekly newspaper?
  19. The Miami game was great, I was so glad to be there and wish every game was like that. Unfortunately there have been other games I have been at where I have been yelled at to sit down, and many others I know have had that same experience. It can be pretty lame, depending on where your seats are, and don't go to a concert in Lincoln that appeals to the older crowd. I went to Elton John, It was like a taping for a PBS production. Seriously.
  20. I actually follow Kenny Bell on Twitter and I actually take the time to read some of the tweets he receives. It is disgusting what I have seen grown men tweet to him. I have never found anything he said on Twitter to be outrageous, especially when compared to what people say to him. Last year something happened to his dog and the first response to the tweet was that he deserved it bc he dropped too many passes. People like that need to FO. I've only been reading the board since Bo was fired, and mostly lurk but the negativity towards some of the players is disheartening.
  21. I love watching Herbstreit cry like a girl over this one:) and I am a girl, so I can say cry like a girl.
