    May be looking at a move out of the State of Iowa in the near future if the legislature makes the changes they have proposed for public workers. It's a shame, Iowa was and always will be home, but I'll move on if need be.

      Fireman and police are exempt at this point, but we know in the future we'll be included. and El Diaco the public employees make less than private employees so thinking we pay less for benefits while making the same if not more money just isn't correct.

      BRI- I was making no presumptions about how much private or public workers make. Simply commenting that 3 raises per year is not something I have seen in my lifetime and probably shouldn't be something anyone expects to happen. My wife had a local government job for many years and it seemed most of the time there was a wage freeze in effect. Occasionally they would get a cost of living and a merit based raise in the sam year but we sure never planned on either happening.
