Are hospitals getting a federal payment for each Covid-19 death?
-
It doesn't matter if a person dies or not, but Medicare (aka the government) roughly pays a hospital a $13k flat rate for that hospital having a Medicare member that gets admitted with COVID. I think Medicare pays ~$40k for an admit with a ventilator, death or no.
Medicare (aka the government) has a fee schedule that they follow for payments to hospitals/doctors. This fee schedule varies based on the severity of the admit/procedure, as well as a couple other factors (the location of the hospital/doctor, etc).
If a non-Medicare person gets admitted with COVID, then that hospital gets $0 from the government. They would get the
negotiated rate with the insurance company that covers the person admitted.

This staff has made 361 offers and gotten 4 commits. Why not offer every 3* in the country.

Has your employer done anything different with this covid 19 stuff? Today our older or those with any medical conditions were given the option to go until this is over, we have hand sanitizer everywhere, no customers or delivery guys inside the building and everything they drop of sits in a outside warehouse for 24 hours before being opened or used. Sounds like all overtime is done as well.

I work for a Fortune 25 company. They told us unless you have a health condition or need to be at home to watch your kids, to suck it up and get to work "because we need your full attention during this crisis". And then yesterday at one of our sites someone got diagnosed with the covid, but they only closed that site.
I am working from home, using health (asthma) and kids as my reason.

Are any of you doing things differently because of the virus? Skipping work, skipping the gym, face masks...

Wife and I are working from home full time starting Monday. Also kids will be out of school for at least 3 weeks because of this. Bought a lot of extra freezer food (just in case). We are going to do our best to isolate through this week and see how it goes. I may need to go for a 30 minute drive every day to get out of the house.
If you haven't seen it, that WaPo simulation on social distancing left an impression on my wife and me. We figure its a small inconvenience for us to help flatten the curve is worth it.

Millard North with, maybe, the greatest melt down in state championship history!

Bigger Choke Job: 2020 Millard North or 1989 Pius X (vs Wahoo)? Pius blew a 16 point lead with 6 mins to go and a 9 point lead with 1 minute to go.

There’s no chance of a “normal” spring game this year. It will either be televised with no fans or outright cancelled and turn into a 15th practice.

What happens when a player on a NCAA tournament team tests positive for Covid, and that team and their opponents need to be quarantined? Say a team makes the Sweet 16 and needs to be quarantined?

Noah Vedral and OL Brant Banks have joined Nebraska Basketball and have traveled to the Indiana game. This is real life.

Thinking about taking the Wifey on a cruise.. not sure when or where... Ideas from Husker nation on best places to go(no alaskan or cold ones.. tropical only)

One other piece of advice, the time of year greatly impacts price. Fall (aka Hurricane Season) is the cheapest, where as winter through spring is more expensive. Also, we will always fly down to the port a day early, because you never know what will happen with weather/mechanical issues and the ship ain't waiting for you.

I do prefer all-inclusive resorts in Mex/Carib over cruises, but cruises are fun too. The huge
boatsships they are building now are basically floating resorts, with multiple restaurants and a great variety of entertainment. Yes, there is a "sheep herding" aspect to them, but you get to wake up in a different place every morning, which is kinda cool. One problem the nickel and diming on board, and even if you are moderate drinker, you will ring up quite to bill at the end of the trip. But when I go on "tropical" vacations, I prefer to plant my a$$ down by a pool/ocean and drink all day, so all inclusives are more my style. Mrs Red Five is more of the "get out and do things" type, so she likes being able to see different things on a cruise.

If its just 2 adults, I would recommend Norwegian (too many kids on Disney/Royal Caribbean). Carnival would be ok if you want something a bit cheaper, but more families and also people just looking to drink. The other difference if you are doing in the Caribbean (most likely out of Miami, Ft Lauderdale, or Port Canaveral) is eastern (Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, etc) vs western (St Thomas, St Martin, Puerto Rico, etc), or you could go out of San Juan and do a southern too. Also most now stop at their own private islands which are pretty nice.

I told myself out of college I wasn't moving north of Lincoln. And then somehow I ended up almost 300 miles north of Lincoln and it was only going to be for a "couple years". Then I met a girl from here (who really likes family being close), had kids, and now I'm stuck for a bit. But our grand plan is to send kids to school in the south (4th grade boy is convinced he is going to Clemson/Alabama/LSU), have them get jobs down there, and they we move to be closer to them.

Ed McCaffrey hired as new football coach at Northern Colorado. It's not a bad choice to try a big name to get local CO kids to stay home instead of going to other FCS programs.
