  1. Nope, I just don't believe in conspiracy theorists. That's how Q falsehoods leave a mark on the gullible.
  2. If you are referring to an election, it absolutely has nothing to do with that. That's nothing but Clay Travis rage bait for rubes. I could buy the liability concern. If the conferences play they should all start at the same time.
  3. My big question is why all P5 conference leaders can't get together and find common ground/compromise so that there is some sort of uniformity on the season? I don't know how you can have a championship with a whole bunch of different starting and end points. Maybe Tim Brando was right about having a NCAA Czar?
  4. This is why the rumors, pipe dreams, and bat guano crazy section needs to be visible and readily available to file these posts into.
  5. I disagree with the first. If they follow best practice safety protocols that other conferences are doing, those good faith efforts keep the lawyers away IMO. The second I can agree with but it is going to happen anyway if the ACC, SEC, and Big XII are able to play.
  6. Because there is no intent to play. It only exists to keep teams from fielding independent schedules. Then in Spring they can say it's not safe and postpone until Fall of '21. After calling off the conference season, this whole kerfuffle could have been avoided if they allowed teams to schedule 4 non-conference games. You could space it out 3 weeks at a time for a Covid-19 buffer if they wanted to. There is no way, especially with the Big Ten's climate, that they are playing a full slate in Spring, even if that fantasy nonsense got off the ground. The decision seems heavy-handed when it didn't need to be. I wonder how much the recruiting is going to suffer and transfer loss is going to accelerate? SEC teams never had an issue with pushing out a guy for someone who is better. A few games and you throw a bone to kids and coaches who have busted their tail for the reward of a season. If it doesn't work following the safety protocols, you can shut it down but at least it shows you tried.
  7. Since they have to 50% participation IIRC to play for a title, there is really no margin for error now. SEC, ACC, and Big XII have to play for a semi-legit season. We saw the writing on the wall when the MAC canceled that the Big Ten season was in trouble. Sun Belt is playing because of possible money games against ACC and SEC. I think if another P5 domino falls, the season is done.
  8. Yeah, I wonder this. What if they just played 4 games like a normal non-conference season in other leagues? Had three weeks between games as a Covid-19 buffer. I think the talk of Spring Football is a poison pill inserted to stop teams from looking around for opponents this Fall. I don't believe there is any serious intention to playing in the Spring. It's just kicking the can until that's canceled and then they start play in Fall of '21.
  9. Yes, Korea is the size of Indiana, but it has over 50 million people so population density is a factor, much like Japan. Korea also to be fair, required GPS installed on phones for tracking and issues fines of 8K for breaking quarantine. Those two things might be unpalatable to the U.S. The populace though wore masks, they tested and traced like crazy, and didn't send Covid-19 patients back to their family to infect others. Those three things the U.S. should be doing. We don't have to use Korea, Japan is another example where they value the collective over the individual. Japan has the most elderly population in the world and a very high population density. We could also list western European countries like Germany or even Italy are getting back closer to a normal life after suffering early by having effective leadership and a willing citizenry. The Bahamas just banned U.S. citizens in their country today. The Bahamas, who relies so much on American tourism for their economy. The world is showing us about our crap leadership and our citizens with crap attitudes. American exceptionalism, is being exceptionally bad in a pandemic. There should be a federal mandate on wearing masks. My friends of East Asian ancestry were always perplexed why Americans were so resistant to it. It has shown to be a helpful tool against the virus and I believe science.
  10. Yep, they are selfish, entitled, and proud of their ignorance. NHL has 7 Canadian teams out of 31 (+expansion Seattle). The hubs to play are in Edmonton and Toronto. The Canadian government put their citizens first and just told the Toronto Blue Jays to bugger off and stay in the virus-infested U.S. The U.S. passport is now Afghanistan level valuable. The world is telling us about the U.S., and Brazil to be fair, about our feckless leadership, anti-science populace and that they won't tolerate it in their home countries. I saw friends in Korea posting pictures of the beach and dining in restaurants. I was jealous that we can't do the same here because we won't follow what has worked in controlling the virus around the world. Likely cost us college football, volleyball, and maybe more if don't get our act together.
  11. Yep, because some people have made the mask requirement a political issue, when it is really just the seatbelt law, the motorcycle helmet law, or the fact that people can't smoke when they are filling their gas tank at the convenience store as examples. Established science and logic that leads to better outcomes and puts less people at risk for harm.
  12. Plus, with the protests I saw almost everyone was wearing a mask. I do hope the Pride event in Chicago was the same way this past weekend with the amount of people there.
  13. Yep, seeing the younger players play and seniors who couldn't crack the starting lineup is much more rare than it used to be for Nebraska. The old farts like me remember when it happened far more often. I appreciate when the opportunity happens even more now. 14. I agree, national guys can't possibly cover everything. Chris Russo outside of the NYC area and professional sports is terrible. He knows little to nothing about college football, much less than most intelligent fans who follow the sport.
  15. I had thought there was a discussion on adopting something like soccer/futbol yellow/red card discipline. First targeting penalty would be the yardage penalty, second would be yardage plus ejection. There needs to be increased scrutiny IMO on the offensive side of the ball for targeting if these are the rules we have to live with. We have all seen several defensive players who were doing the right thing in slowing up, ejected, because the offensive player lowered his head at the last second and contact seemed initiated by the offensive player.
  16. As long as T.O. is still with us, I don't see that happening.
  17. I know one instance that can unite us all and root for Coach O and Bo. LSU clobbering Texas and Tom Herman on 9/12.
  18. Not much with New Orleans just an hour down the road
  19. Coach O and Bo? I was reading where one sport commentator said the when Bo was in B.R. last time they called the Tigers "an 800 lb. gorilla with a chainsaw for a penis".....I don't know how he will top that but they will be entertaining.
  20. Nothing says the offseason like cluttering up the thread relitigating stuff from 5-10 years ago.
  21. As long as the ignorant stupidity of "Power Cat" doesn't follow..
  22. If it leads to more pictures of Bill and T.O. together commenting on the game, that's an added bonus.
  23. I wonder about the reputation and reliability of that account? I think I will wait for someone more substantial to confirm it.
  24. Point taken as a HC. It's certainly hard to play on the ledge all the time, fired up emotionally. Sometimes it gets 2003 Michigan State results, many times it gets results as you have alluded to. However, I won't judge him based on a game like the College Station Big XII hose job fiasco with the officiating. Even national writers commented on that petty display by Dan Beebe's minions. I remember Matt Davison on the radio trying his best not to curse them out. That was as bad of officiating calls as Saints/Rams.
