Yea or nay on the Google Pixel phone? Daughter wants one for her next phone but we don't know much about except that the cameras are supposed to be pretty good (which is what she wants)

Stay away from Apple unless you want to have to use all their stuff. I like Apple's hardware and a lot of their software, but their vertical integration and lack of open standard support makes them a non-starter for me.
But I'm not sure the Pixel or Google are worth the cost. I'm a fan of getting a $100-$150 phone, usually whatever was highly rated from 6-12 months ago.
