That's just sickening, I can't imagine what the families are going through.  Depression is an ugly thing.

Depression is a motherf****r. Had a co-worker almost succumb to his recently (he's getting treatment and is doing much better, thankfully), and I know plenty of folks that fight it on a daily basis. 

This though...three lives gone like that...damn. I'm sorry to hear this CN.

I deal with high school students a lot.  Depression is a big thing, as is bullying.  But, one of the biggest things I've noticed is many of them don't value life like many older people do.  Many of them don't have hopes or dreams or expectations.  They don't see a future where things could be better than what they have in high school.  I won't pretend to know the reasons why (I have theories, but I don't want to get into that here) but I do think it needs to be addressed - it's a cultural and generational thing - not just isolated cases.
