  1. I think Mav is right. After 2nd time the offensive team would likely be warned to snap the ball or be faced with forfeiting the game. I've seen DOG declined before and it seems the team always snapped it the next time. What is curious though are all the times a team does it to give their kicker more room and it often gets accepted. Pretty sure this won't be a thing this Saturday...
  2. What a chart. I can see how the political process makes it easy for "tough on crime" to win. With as much that will always be at DA's discretion, that builds up and results in these sobering statistics. Feel-good campaign platitudes =/= sound outcomes. Is there a per capita chart? 'Cause this chart is pretty meaningless. Yeah, it would be more meaningful if it was per 100,000 or something like that. Still it has increased rather significantly per capita. 1980 pop was 226M so about .15% of the population. Now it is about .47% so a threefold increase. Actually that percentage doesn't seem too unreasonable. That's about one person for every 200. Putting it in perspective, that would be about 2 people from my high school graduating class, I can see that. Seems like probably at least 1 in 200 across society are slimebags.....and yet many of them aren't in prison.
  3. I don't know why but even the thought of this is making me tear up. Can't imagine the emotions his coaches and teammates will be experiencing.
  4. Great list ColoradoHusk. Here's a couple more; Mad at all the other fans screaming guy Savage touched on this guy and he is usually some combination of #1, 25 & 34. What makes this guy special is he spends 90% of the game standing backwards, angrily exhorting those in "his" section to get off their dead asses and make some noise. It doesn't matter to him that it is a TV timeout and some people would like to catch their breathe and relax for a moment, Oh no, you can't relax for a second with this guy around. If the game is going poorly for the Huskers he will get angrier and angrier and blame the teams performance on the fans who aren't making as much noise as he is. If the game is in hand, he will usually find one or two others in the stands who have been yelling their asses off, point them out, and tell those near him "that's what I'm talking about". This guy is usually hoarse by halftime and often completely disappears before the end of the game. He can be fun if he isn't way too drunk (which is highly unlikely). So frail she shouldn't have left the house lady Bless her heart, this blue hair has had Cornhusker season tickets since before that young whippersnapper named Robert Devaney came to town. But, due to her age and legitimate health reasons, she really shouldn't have ventured out to the game. You'll notice this lady especially at early season games when the temperature is 90+. She's constantly digging in her purse for some sort of pill or remedy, putting wet rags on her head & neck, fanning herself and rubbing ice on her wrists to help prevent the inevitable collapse that is only a matter of time. When you see someone from a distance getting carried out on a stretcher in the 2nd or 3rd quarter, that's her.
  5. I really expect only 10 on the field and to take the DOG penalty. I don't care what the game situation is, that is what should happen. Personally, I would like to see our ten players line up facing backwards on one knee. If Fresno has some class they will decline the penalty but, if they don't decline it, that is fine too.
  6. I started with the aloe because I am fairly convinced it has some healing qualities. We've used aloe gel forever for burns and it really seems to work. I've read quite a few claims of people with internal conditions benefitting from drinking the water or juices. Also have checked online resources like the Mayo Clinic, WebMD etc. to check dosing information, side effects etc. Seems to be somewhat viable for internal healing (like inflamed ulcers). Aloe has a pretty good track record for being somewhat effective and safe, I'm just not convinced how much good it can do for my severe chronic condition. I've taken some pretty serious biologicals like Humira and Entyvio and they helped but did not get me into remission. Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure I'm in remission now....Think it started before the aloe but it does seem like the aloe is helping. I should mention, this is not simply aloe containing juices and whatnot, it is straight aloe water extracted from the leaves with no other added ingredients. I'm using a product called "George's" and it tastes and has the mouthful extremely similar to just plain water. I guess time will tell. Taking hydrogen peroxide internally is more concerning and some of the claims about its benefits seem too good and wide ranging to be true. Lots of "conspiracy" information about how it has been suppressed by drug makers, doctors etc. because it is so miraculous it threatens their livelihood. Those kind of claims always trigger alarms for me. I'll probably try it just because I don't think it can really hurt but I am extremely leery. I'm definitely going to get the book and read up on it, you just can never be sure how big of a crackpot the author or claimants might be. But at $4000 per month for Humira or $25000 per infusion for Entyvio, neither of which has got the job done, I don't see how it could hurt.
  7. Thought this topic might be of some interest so started a thread. I'm not a huge believer in the efficacy of many of the treatments and claims that are out there but recently I have become very interested in a couple substances that seem to have quite a few claims of being helpful for a medical condition I have, ulcerative colitis. I have been battling it for over two years and have exhausted all traditional medicines. I have been doing pretty well with the condition for the past few months but I really need to get off of prednisone and Imuran. I take these to suppress my immune system and for inflammation. UC is an auto immune disease in the same family as rheumatoid arthritis. Prednisone can cause all kinds of problems and should not be taken long term...I've been on a fairly high dose for over two years and am having trouble tapering off of it. I am about to the point where the only solution is a surgery I do not want to have. Anyway, two things I've found that make some pretty grand claims are aloe water and 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide H2O2. I have been drinking aloe water, 2 ounces twice per day for about 2 weeks now. It seems to be helping some and I think is responsible for allowing me to cut my prednisone dose by 25% and am hopeful it will allow me taper it down further. The H2O2 seems a little more serious and possibly dangerous but I have seen some pretty miraculous claims about it curing almost anything and everything. There is book called The One Minute Cure about it. Does anyone have any experience or stories to share about either of these 2 substances?
  8. Johnson/Weld have been airing a lot of radio spots (at least on the classic rock station I listen to out of the Fort Collins/Loveland area) in Colorado. I find them refreshing because he is actually talking about some issues and presenting their ticket as the option to prevent simply more of the same that we have been getting forever from both the repubs and dems. I'm not sure how effective the radio spots are or if they are gaining him any ground but I have to believe many people appreciate some actual talk about issues in a calm and responsible manner as opposed to nothing more than the violent mudslinging coming from the other two. I really wish people would realize that it is not an impossible or futile task to challenge and beat the two majors, especially considering that their candidates have no business being within a stones throw of the White House. Come on people, vote FOR something rather than just voting against something. If you think about it for just a little bit, it is a much more logical and useful way to help things get headed in right direction. Clinton or Trump will just assure the status quo and likely further movement in the wrong direction for this country. Those two worthless parties will maintain their stranglehold on this country for as long as we the people allow them to. Shake it up.
  9. Help me out Nuance - what would be an ex of something you'd say to a man that when you've said it to a woman that found they're think skinned about? First of all, you misunderstood my post. Again. It's not saying something *to* a woman (as opposed to a man) that might cause a reaction. It's speaking in frank, matter of fact terms *about* a woman (as you would speak about a man) that causes a thin skinned response in some who are supposedly advocates of equal gender rights. So here's an example for you. I made a post recently defending the actions of Tom Osborne in regards to his treatment of Lawrence Phillips. Several posters—three posters in particular—jumped all over me in regards to my post. One poster went so far as to suggest that I’m the type of fellow who would say that rape victim asked for it because of what she was wearing. (btw, That comment is absolutely untrue and I was extremely upset by it.) The thing is, if LP had instead gotten in an off-the-field fight with a male teammate, I sincerely doubt if those three posters would have gotten all bent out of shape and responded in that manner to my post. You need professional help. NOTE: This post of StPaul's is not intended to carry on a conversation or make a point relevant to the thread. It's just flaming. This is his 5th warning in the past year. StPaulHusker is on vacation from HB for a while. Carry on. You brought it over from another thread, NUance. And even as you strive to clarify your position, you invite legitimate criticism. I may have been one of the posters on the Phillips thread you mention here. I continue to find you on very shaky ground with your assertions. If holding your feet to the fire is flaming, toss me in with StPaul. Thin-skinned moderation and personally-driven banishments can be a real buzzkill. I have one that has decided to go after me as well, not that I think that is what is happening here. I get a trolling violation for responding to a trolling comment which resulted in me getting the post removed and a warning point. The other guy.. nothing. THEN that mod sends me a trolling message. You know what I would do if I were you? I would keep pushing this issue to the hilt in the regular forums. I would make at least 20 more posts about how you are being trolled and mistreated. Make sure your posts have nothing to do with the subject matter of the topic (BTW, you're doing a very good job of this so far) Anyway....if you do that, a mod will take notice and will hopefully do the right thing....that thing that should've happened long ago.
  10. Because a reaction generated by the prior discussion on this topic was brought up as an example (legitimately and innocently so) pertinent to this topic. Unfortunately one poster (possibly more...) failed to understand the obvious point being made and instead chose to respond, out of place, in this topic, with their usual over the top level of righteous indignation whenever the subject of Lawrence Phillips and Tom Osborne is broached, by making yet more bizarre claims about a moderator on this board and what could be construed as a personal attack that did not contribute to this discussion at all. Anyway, that is why it is in here.
  11. Why should anyone remove their hats inside a place of worship? What does that accomplish? God can still see them with their hat on.Or at a funeral/wake/procession? Its an empty gesture. The person is already dead. They aren't around to object. It's not helping them. I completely agree with both of those things. So, showing basic, remedial levels of respect by conforming to accepted social constructs is not important? Maybe you should go to that church naked and and eating a box of tacos or show up at that funeral with a boom box blaring on your shoulder. I mean nothing matters, right?
  12. So if we can't vote for Hillary because she was "attempting to use race" and that "disqualifies her in and of itself" for "reasonable people" to vote for her, then who is this "good candidate" we should support? Jeb Bush is an honorable man. Far and away better than the Clintons, as one of many examples. As far as I am aware, Bernie Sanders is an honorable and honest and decent man. He's a political KOOK (but so is Hillary for that matter. Huckabee is a good and decent man with governmental executive office exeperience exactly equal to Bill Clinton (same state even). Ben Carson is a good and decent and honorable man. Extremely intelligent and even Black! To give just a few Are you serious Clark? Intelligent AND black too? Wow, and nothing actually stopped you from posting that?
  13. Well at least this deal got straightened out and It's not even week 7 yet. I really hated the way Bo handled it.
  14. See.....you just avoided being candid because it would get you suspended ;-)
  15. The times that I've been warned and suspended have been because I was being an a-hole and breaking the rules, so I rightly deserved the punishment. Had nothing to do with my candidness of speech. IDK, I avoid candidness on this board all the time to prevent being suspended or banned. I'm sure you do the same also.
  16. I thought you got out of that??? I got out of the Friday night camping, but we now have to go up to the lake and hang out with them during the day. Super lame. IDK but it seems like you've got a pretty serious cold coming on. Probably will get real bad Friday afternoon. You should probably wait until Friday night and call to let them know you're feeling under the weather and won't be able to make it.
  17. LOL. Oompah loompah zippety doo....
  18. I don't disagree but I'll never pick Iowa as a top 3 win for the Huskers. I will continue to expect beating the Hawkeyes as the norm to be expected. Same goes for the other Purdues and Illinis and Northwesterns of the world. When those are special or important wins, it just tells me we aren't where we want to be yet.
  19. Saying that the death penalty or extremely long prison sentences are not appropriate for most drunk driving offenses is much different than saying it's no big deal. The comments I've read justifying drunk driving haven't been specifying that they are directed at people calling for overly harsh punishment. If that is a persons point, maybe it would good to be more specific what your point is. There have been a couple sarcastic comments (at least I thought they were sarcastic) that the death penalty for first offense is called for. I've been fairly vocally opposed to drunk driving and haven't proposed any ridiculous, over the top punishments. So, when somebody chooses to take me to task on my comments on the subject, I assume they are disagreeing with me that dui is a bad thing. If you have a problem with somebody calling for ten years in prison or the death penalty for first offense, then maybe you should say as much instead of resorting to hyperbole, sarcasm, and justifying the unjustifiable. Also, who here has said texting while driving or driving fatigued are not also problems? False equivalencies and strawman arguments.... I thought the discussion was about drunk driving not any and everything that might also be considered dangerous. Bringing up something as bad or worse doesn't make dui any better.
  20. Same with texting while driving. Get caught looking at your phone, go to jail. Dead is dead. Yeah, I'll take an experienced driver with a .08 over the people convinced they can continue to have a text conversation behind the wheel. Why should a person take either one?
  21. Okay.......so when are you going to start expressing a reasonable opinion? You have stated 3rd offense dui is not that big of a deal and provided some anecdotal evidence of how you drove drunk numerous times (was it 6-8 weekends in a row you should've got a dui...?) without harming anyone and this lucky occurrence leads you to believe that driving drunk is no big deal and that anyone who lives in the United States should just accept that possibly getting killed by a drunk driver is somehow an expected risk we all assume. Sorry, that isn't reasonable. In fact, it is the opposite of reasonable. You might want to start over.....or just quit before you say more things that make you look foolish and irresponsible.
