NUance, your analogy is sort of accurate but it chooses to ignore people's sense of justice and fair play. All these subsequent bannings are not the result of ignorant curiosity getting the best of people. Most have made the conscious decision to question authority on a matter they felt was unjust. That's called standing up for what you believe in, not being a jackass. Some people would consider it a virtue to speak up for what is right even if it costs you something. There are worse things than being banned from a message board, like selling out and toeing the line just to prevent being banned. Yes, some people crossed the line and got banned but it was the ridiculous butthurt thing that precipitated all of it. Yeah, it could've been avoided in every case but, why should it have to be avoided except for the apparent pet peeve issue of one person? In a way, you could say these posters were baited into being banned. IMO.

I mean this with all due respect but, it would appear you have absolutely no idea what is going on in this situation. It is not near as simple and clear cut as some posters breaking the rules. If that were really the issue, do you really think so many would be upset by it?

You could at least provide an explanation to those who were banned. I mean, it's pretty obvious why Marf got the banhammer today, but you guys ban people and don't even tell them why. That's pretty weak sauce. It's a catch 22 situation beanman. When the reasoning and rationale behind the bans is unsound, they can't tell us the reason(s) without looking foolish. I'm afraid the best we're gonna get is the lame bs we've been fed so far cuz the truth is so incredibly stupid and unjustified. I realize in a couple cases people were pushed to the point of saying things that would result in a ban, like telling a mod or admin "FU" in a pm. The problem, imo, is the discussion that led up to that statement. People can only get pushed so far until they have to make a stand for what they feel is right. SW reached that point quickly, others have taken a few days to get there. It's an extremely unfortunate situation that does not appear to have an explanation or corrective action forthcoming.

Based on continuing actions (bannings) and explanations offered thus far, it would appear nobody gives a sh#t.

Sorry. IMO Pat Ford is a tool. Is that better? My opinion is as valid as any of his. I've seen the guy on TV and read enough of his articles that I am entitled to that opinion. Not a fan. And I'm sure his comments didn't rub some of the posters around here the wrong way because, as was pointed out, some are not happy with the Riley hire, I am. Was it the absolute best we could do? We'll never know the answer to that, but it was unquestionably better than 5 more minutes with Bo, Paps, and Beck....imo.

How dare he question the hire of a coach without a winning history. What a tool indeed. Really, every guy who questions Nebraska isn't a tool or out to bait us for clicks or anything else. Reality is this hire was a bit of a gamble. Pat Forde is free to point that out. A couple things. 1- I called him a tool based on the examples I listed, not simply because he didn't get down on all fours and blow Riley. 2- I called him a tool because he is one. The comment was based on a body of work condemning virtually anything Nebraska does, gloating over anything SEC related, and the fact that he is a Mizzou grad.

Pat Forde is a tool. This article is nothing more than one idiots opinion. Mississippi State listed as big winner for keeping Mullen, Colorado State listed as loser for not getting their first choice of Narduzzi but rather getting 2nd choice, Bobo the OC from Georgia, with the reason being he won't stick around long. I guess their screwed no matter who they get. Oregon State listed as winner for RIley leaving and Anderson replacing him........I guess it's not just Huskerboard posters that can't differentiate between a brand and the ability of a coach. Did I mention Pat Forde is a tool?

Curious.....where are the examples of people rubbing his face in it or the sickness of which you speak? Is it here on HB or somewhere else? Can't say I've seen much of that type of thing around here.

I don't think Bo has much contact with Carl anymore. Mary Pat (Bo's wife) was pretty freaking pissed when Carl cheated on his wife, as the two women had become close friends. Mary Pat was one of the big reasons (along with TO) that Bo pushed Carl to get another gig. That makes sense. I did not consider that Bo and Mary Pat may not want to have Carl hanging around. Lincoln just seems like the last place he should be trying to make a home given all that has transpired.

Kinda feel sorry for the guy. If it's tough to be a Pelini in Nebraska, he has his brother Bo to thank for that. Sure, Carl didn't do himself any favors in the court of public opinion but it was the Disdain Bo showed Husker fans that turned the tide against the Pelini name. I find it very strange that he chooses to make his home in Lincoln. Seems like that's just asking for things to be difficult. He needs to move to a larger city and disappear into the woodwork. Curious why he couldn't reunite with Bo at YSU. If they'll take Bo, I would think they'd take anybody but maybe it wouldn't pay enough without the supplemental contract payoff that Bo is getting?

Sorry to hear about the injury Tood. Hope she heals up soon. I think my daughters team will be decent based on the little bit of her practices I've seen but probably not in the top dozen 15's teams in Colorado. We're starting out in about division 7 which basically is at about 42nd +/- in the state. With only 6 power tournaments, we would have to win every one to even make it up to the top 6 in division 1. The good news is, they should do lots of winning the first 3 to 4 powers. The bad news is, if they do end up being really good, their initial seeding will keep them from being able score enough ranking points so, they're basically prevented from ending the season ranked high enough to move on to a regional or nationals. Somehow I don't think that will end up being a problem. I do really like her coach this year. He pushes them hard and is pretty much no nonsense. My daughter likes him also, he's been at it for many years. It's nice to finally have someone that really knows the game and how to coach a competitive team. The last few years she got some pretty good skills coaching at practices, from the club coaches as a group but, her team's coaches were either young and inexperienced, soft, or tended towards rec ball thinking of everyone plays equally. That was annoying on more than many occasions. I don't think that will be an issue with this guy. About one too many mistakes and I'm convinced they'll ride a little pine.

Agreed and mostly agreed. I think science and religion CAN coexist and get along together nicely but, unfortunately they don't in most cases, especially when far right nutjobs like Cruz are involved.

Actually, if you use that thing on top of your neck and actually comprehend what I said, you would realize that I didn't actually say either of those things. I'll repeat once and see if you, and those who are plus 1ing you, can discern the difference. 1- I said I doubted he could harm NASA more than Obama has. That is quite different than saying science has been set back by one guy. Really, could anybody possibly think that the very broad field of science has been set back by only one person? There are many, many people who have set science back and many people who are responsible for harming NASA. So no, I didn't say anything even remotely resembling what you claim I said. 2- Again, to help with your comprehension level, I did not say "science" can't be harmed by one person. Anybody can harm science, ranging from just a little bit up to some pretty serious damage. What I said was that Ted Cruz wasn't going to set back science all by himself. That is not the same thing as not inflicting some damage, it just acknowledges that science is a much more substantial thing than what Cruz, or Obama, or any one person, can ruin on his own. And where, oh please tell me where, I "defended" Ted Cruz. I would like to see that because I think he's a f'ing idiot that should stay about 100 miles away from anything science related. My intent was to point out that NASA has a lot more detractors, and a lot more people that have already harmed NASA than just one Mr. Ted Cruz.
