  1. It's not that this one thing, or any of Kenny's "things", are a big deal. But, put them all together and it shouldn't be surprising that people are tiring of his shat. He can do what he wants, I just wish he did it with more class, appreciation, and humility. Just tired of his headlines being for the wrong reasons.
  2. I won't and couldn't "make" you go to bat for Kenny. If you do, that's on you. It's not his financial situation I'm concerned about. It's the things he voluntarily shares and the things that are obvious to the casual observer. That electric bill is a given, the tats and headphones are a choice. Maybe it is just poor money management but to then bemoan your situation on a soapbox to bolster your position on players being paid and unionizing......sorry, I don't give that much leeway regardless his actual financial situation. If he is going to loudly state his feelings on it, surely those of us who think it's ridiculous can comment on it.
  3. For me it's because he started out not being this way. It's been in the past year or two. And the "woe is me" schtick with the $ thing pissed me off a lot and has stuck with me. There are good arguments out there for compensating players but whining about his electricity getting shut off after buying a full back tattoo and 30 different colors of beats headphones... holy crap, grow up. Oh the flip side, making idiotic internet speculation as to the state of a college athlete's finances is equally immature and short-sighted. This is one area where I agree with Kenny, but I do think he has gone about arguing it in a suboptimal manner. Suboptimal as in spending hundreds of dollars on tats but feeling no compulsion to stfu about not being able to afford an electricity bill that is a fraction of that amount? Yeah, that is suboptimal.
  4. Nothing to add. +1 to the op. I say turn em lose and let em hunt.
  5. The only thing that isn't endemic is the part where it's said in front of a microphone instead of behind closed doors. If you don't think 95% of college football players share his perspective and self-importance about fans and being paid or whatever else amongst themselves in their locker rooms and homes you're dreaming. The only reason it's not endemic is because the players are coached to shut the hell up and not say anything authentic in front of cameras. Sure it's more prevalent with cfb players, big time athletes, etc. But it is still a choice they make and that they are responsible for. Don't write off the actions and attitude as inevitable because it isn't. Just like you or I, they make choices about what type of person they are going to be.
  6. I mostly agree but to all of that I simply say, so what? Hardly anywhere even remotely close to topping the list of egregious offenses by college football players that are treated like royalty by everyone around them at all times. The egos of Kenny Bell and every other player are just as much their own fault as they are the fault of a culture that we all contribute to, with messageboards centered around their accomplishments and billion dollar tv contracts. Think for a second of how little you would think your sh#t stinks if you were in his shoes. Rex and Ameer, to name just two, didn't seem to have this problem and both of them sure would be more entitled to an inflated sense of self worth than Kenny. It's not endemic to cfb to do what Kenny does so let's not act like he isn't responsible for what he says. i honestly struggle to think of another husker player who has had this much attention for these types of things. crouch threatening to quit, maybe? I can't think of any either. Kenny is a little "special" in this regard. But I do think we can thank Twitter and social media in general for us even being aware of half of this crap. If a tree falls in the forest, you'll hear about it via Twitter. That's one reason I don't do the twitter.

  8. You guys are making way too much of this. Bell's talking up his current QB without talking about any previous ones. The "haven't had that in a long time" -- including Tommy last year? -- was off the cuff, probably how he truthfully feels, but not an intentional attempt to stoke flames or be a distraction. All of that? That's you guys. The only story here is that it's great Tommy is earning such respect from his teammates, even as a sophomore. And I don't think it's surprising.I disagree. You don't say " that's something we haven't had in a quarterback in a while" without it meaning exactly what he said. That kind of dis to the previous qb's is hard to ignore. Sure he was talking up Tommy but, he easily could do that without the jab. Sometimes things are exactly what they seem. Personally I am tired of KB, his inflated ego, and the stupid sit he says but, I also think this commentary on TM hits the nail on the head. TA is a leader and TM was no more than an athlete. Night and day when it comes to the QB position. Kenny is right but he shouldn't have said it.
  9. I agree and I'm right there with ya about not being a BOliever. I would love to see them win out though. It's not that I want Bo to fail, I've just seen this team unprepared and unmotivated too many times. I would love for that to change and for Bo to stick around a long time. I would also like to win Powerball.
  10. When I saw the question in the title, I immediately thought about a 5% chance. So, I guess 12% is pretty good. Making it in to the 4 team playoff is largely out of our control at this point. Unless we annihilate the rest of our schedule, I feel we'll be left on the outside looking in. Of P5 conferences, any 1 loss B1G team will likely be looked at as inferior to other 1 loss teams. Depending how the SEC cannibalize itself in the remaining games, I can easily see them getting 2 of the spots. That's not much room left for anybody from the B1G. I would still be more than satisfied to win out, including the ccg, and play in the Rose Bowl on New Years day. No shame in that and we wouldn't necessarily be getting screwed in that scenario, depending on which teams get in. Disclaimer- I believe there is about a 10% chance we win out. If I was forced to bet on it, I would have to go with us dropping another game and probably not even making the ccg. I've got to see this team play more than 2 quarters before I'll believe they won't find a way to screw this up.
  11. Ahhh, the good old days, when it was Nebraska D linemen choking the living snot out of the other team. How far we've fallen. A nation turns it's lonely eyes to you Peter brothers.
  12. I don't like this train of thought. We can't overlook any of these teams, as they all certainly don't "stink." +1 to both of you. We simply cannot take any remaining team lightly. If we play our typical half game for all remaining games, we will suffer at least one additional loss and probably more. What are you thinking knapp? Do you have an inside line on a Husker team that couldn't still screw this up? I sure haven't seen that team.
  13. I say put Moraine on the committee. All in favor +1 this post and a mod will make it happen.
  14. I didn't learn much about the team I didn't already know. They don't quit, am that's a good thing. Often times they don't get started and that's a bad thing. We had yet another 50/50 game. Where oh where has Kevin Williams been hiding. He's been tearing it up. DPE continues to impress. Need to find more touches for him. And finally I learned that when I lower my expectations I can ride out a half game of this team sucking much better. I guess the key is to expect them to play poorly and lose. Then when they actually play up to potential, it seems they are exceeding expectations. This mindset may be the difference between pumper and nellies.
  15. Unprepared, unmotivated, unimpressive, once again. How does this team continually fail to show up? Hint it's either the 200 different players or it's a small handful of coaches. You decide.
  16. Really digging Northwestern's uniforms. That's how you do it Adidas.

Like the helmets and color. Not sure I'm on board with the font thing though.

  17. Whoa Nelly, happy birthday Keith Jackson. 86 today.

  18. I agree that this is the mentality our team needs. I'm not overly concerned with this schedule but, comparing it year to year and to other conference teams, it is messed up. Surely they can develop better balanced schedules.
  19. We ask for a chance that's fair,
  20. Well everybody got the Galaxy s5. Daughter figured out the otterbox wasn't too bad after all. Blew the whole evening getting 4 phones, but I really like mine so far.

  21. I agree, that conference away schedule is bullsh#t. It's not a matter of wanting or not wanting to play the best but FML, it should be somewhat balanced, fair, and equitable. Absolutely stupid to have such lopsided scheduling. I always thought those first couple years were scheduled as some sort of initiation. Now I just think they're f'ing idiots. They should never do that to any team in the B1G that a person would consider top tier. Do they want to remain irrelevant as a conference, nationally, forever?
  22. "Refrigerate after opening", that's what it says on this can of Arnold Palmer I just bought. WTH? How do they expect a person to drink it if you have to put it back in the frig after you open it. Geez....we all don't have walk-in coolers for beverage consumption.

  23. You could always go to the well and recycle one of these gems- If it's not easy Nebraska can't do it? If it's that hard, how do other teams do it? We will never progress beyond 4 loss seasons and that's ok? Or, do you see some evidence, any evidence, that Bo and this staff are making progress towards something better? Or, is Nebraska's potential maxed out?
