  1. Thanks guys. I appreciate all the opinions. We're already fairly heavily invested in Kindle/Amazon based books so that, and the relatively inexpensive price, is why I was already leaning pretty hard towards the Kindle Fire HDX. My wife has the "paper white" Kindle screen and I am really impressed with that. The eye strain is much less than the Kindle app on my Droid phone. I guess I already knew their apps were significantly more limited than iPad/Apple but I just don't see me going overboard with apps. To answer Landlords question, I've always acquired my movies legally and would expect that to continue. If I can't afford to get it legally, I don't need it. And Knapp, your comments on storage probably convinced me to go for the 64GB model. I'm not too worried about not having wifi access to my cloud storage. I make due now with my phone- I just plan ahead and load up what I think I may want before I go. I've learned to be pretty frugal- I still only have a grandfathered 500MB data plan on my smart phone because I don't want to pay the $30 or $40 per month for 2GB or more, and it doesn't bother me at all. Plus, I pay the bill so if I ever really need to go over my limit, I'll just bite it and go. However, the same limitation would absolutely kill my kids- they've both got 2GB plans (that I pay for ). One of these days we'll come into the 21st century and get a family share plan with 6GB or 8Gb or more of data- but currently happy saving the $30-$60/mo.
  2. I've got that in my iTunes rotation as well I skip songs quite regularly but always let that one play. Love me a Lyle radio call. But but but what about that block behind the play at about the ten yard line? That sure wouldn't have flew this past Saturday
  3. I'm in the market for a tablet, reader, or inexpensive laptop. I plan to uae this item pretty much like I use my Droid smart phone. Primary uses being; surfing, posting on Huskerboard, reading Kindle books, playing games like Words With Friends, etc. I don't think I need full PC functionality but it might be nice to be able to do stuff like Excel, Word, Outlook type things. Oh I almost forgot, would like to use it to watch movies. I think wifi only will be fine- will use primarily at home and some at work, both have good wifi. Don't plan on using 4G access. Might be nice to use it for movies to my TV and might be nice if I could send docs to a wireless printer. The major problem I hope to solve over my smart phone is size for surfing and posting on HB. Have not done a lot of research and am currently thinking- 1-Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" 2-iPad Air. 3-iPad Mini- in that order. Also am curious about MS Surface. Any advice for an older, partially tech challenged guy?
  4. Flaming batons.......quite the understatement.

  5. and cheer as the winners go by.
  6. I don't have a good feeling about this game. My gut tells me we're going to be flat and they're going to cram it down our throat ala Minnesota. The good news is, my gut feelings have been terribly wrong lately, so we'll probably be ok.
  7. How much rope is afforded to new posters? Shouldn't like 9 out of 13 posts being nothing but asshattery trip some kind of alarm?

  8. Congress doesn't typically plan that far ahead. FIFY
  9. Amen. +1. I have never once before felt this desperate need for the ignore function. Can anybody tell me where it is cause this guy is seriously making me stupider for reading his sh#t.
  10. I didn't know which of the 14,000 Pelini Sucks/Fire Bo threads to post this in, so I picked this one by random chance. Just a couple observations about our situation and any potential HC change. 1- Bo (the coach-any coach) does not have to be as bad as Callahan to warrant making a change. Being better than Callahan for the program does not necessarily mean being good enough. I guess this one is aimed at the pumpers. 2- We do not have to treat Bo (the coach-any coach) like he is the scourge of the earth, the worst HC ever to don a headset just because we think it might be time to part ways and go a different direction. I guess this one is aimed at the Bo haters/Nellies. To be honest, about half the time I don't think Bo can get us where I want the program to be and I want him gone. The other half of the time I fear what change may bring and think Bo might get there if just given a bit more time and a few more breaks. I really do like the guy for the most part. I see a lot of good things Bo has done for the program and I see some areas of shortfall that I'm not sure will ever change. But what I don't like is people demonizing him for every move or glorifying him when it's not deserved. There seems to be a tendency in posters on this board (maybe fans everywhere) to take more extreme positions, in either direction, than I feel is warranted. Maybe this is just the nature of anonymous message board posting. Maybe it is just how we do things in this day and age (ala our political system). All I'm asking for is more moderate and realty based treatment for the HC of the team we all love. It could be better and it could be worse. Please try to give credit where credit is due and also try to keep praise/criticism focused and based on reality. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
  11. Who's to say your aunt doesn't have a penis? Is that cabbage I smell?
  12. LMAO at anyone who would post this.
  13. I would agree that the "tapegate" (or is it officially audiogate?) incident damaged his goodwill with more fans than may even want to acknowledge it. I still don't disagree with much of what he said about fairweather fans and I understand the feelings of frustration and anger he may have felt with certain media members or duck out early fans. My official stance is; he is/was justified to have an outburst like that (although I am confused about him being that angry immediately following such a great come from behind victory-but that's beside the point). But, that "they can kiss my ass when I'm gone" part, yeah, that is always there in the background, influencing becoming too invested in his long term prognosis.
  14. I see what your point is here, but the simple fact is we did have that 36 year run. It doesn't really matter what we're "meant" to be, we know it can be done here. Yes, Tom was definitely a once in a lifetime talent, maybe even more rare than that. But the fact that we likely will never see another Tom Osborne come through our program does not mean someone else could not have a similar level of success. We may never hit that streak of dominance again but we can be relevant and we can be elite and we definitely should be much more of a CFB force than we currently are. To even be able to say that 6 years post Callahan says a hell of a lot about what Pelini has done for this program. He has done a tremendous job and righted so many wrongs. But, the fact that we are still seeing some embarrassing blowout losses and are dropping more than our share of games to lesser opponents and do seem to struggle at times against equal or lesser competition also says something. I would love nothing more than for Bo to be the guy to take us there, but I am just having trouble believing he will be that guy. I refuse to accept that we are doomed to the status quo. It can be better and it will be better, as long as too many people don't accept that this is all we can be. When that happens, surely we will live up to our expectations.
  15. Well isn't that an oft recurring theme; "their best game was against us". When does that stop being merely a coincidence or the result of uncontrollable factors?
  16. Bo goes, dough flows. Bo stays, yolo days.

  17. f#*k that. What we need is a psychologist for Huskerboard. That poor sumbitch would have his hands FULL.
  18. Jeebus f'ing kreest, here we go with 9 wins this and 9 wins that again. People act like Bo is a 9 win guaranteed ticket, yet anyone who replaces him better by god win 10 or 11 in some certain timeframe. 1-Wyoming 2-Southern Miss 3-South Dakota St. 4-Illinois 5-Purdue 6-Northwestern (on a hail mary) 7-Michigan 8- ?Penn State? 9- ?Iowa? Losses 1-UCLA by 20 2-Minnesota by 11 3-Michigan State by 13 Color me unimpressed with 9 wins. I want to met the coach that doesn't win 8 of those virtually by default.
  19. This. I have probably changed my mind on this subject 14 times in the last 6 weeks. I don't even know what I want, let alone half of some largely unknown group.
  20. What if what Eichorst had to say confirmed the rumor? I'm not sure that would help recruiting at this point in time. The current situation may give other teams some fire power, but confirming it is true would increase it significantly. Possibly he will remain silent for a reason? I know you don't think that is what will happen- just playing devils advocate.
  21. I am highly unimpressed with any concerns about "struggling" to buy out a contract. Money to accomplish that is not going to be a blip of an issue if it comes to that.
  22. I think Richt would be a very good fit and I like the guy, a lot. Landlord made a good point that I have seen plenty about Richt; He has had only marginally better results with significantly better talent. But, imo, that might not be taking it a step far enough. He has also had to compete against significantly better competition in conference. I haven't looked at his exact schedules but one would think multiple SEC conference games every year might lead to some losses. I wonder if he's getting blown out in a couple of those or if he's regularly dropping games that Georgia shouldn't. I'm not saying Richt would be better than Bo or that I want any change at all. Just saying, from what I know (which ain't much sometimes) that he would be at the top of my short list if we are in the market for a coach. I find it hard to believe he would leave a place like Georgia to come here unless he's getting pressure there.
