  1. What was interesting is he opened up with something like "it seems everyone is picking Michigan." I have seen many ppl picking Nebraska as well, probably close to as much as Michigan, was a bit funny that he didn't even bring you guys up. I guess that's what I found most curious. If he wants to pick another team fine but to not even mention Nebraska in the running with the other three? Like I said, it had to be on purpose or he is fairly clueless.
  2. I don't see why Michigan St. is a bad pick. I do pick us to win the Legends division but Bo does have a record of not having his team ready sometimes and i do think some outsiders are starting to pick up on it. I mean we should've played in the Big Ten Championship our first year but lost to Northwestern and our shot and Michigan St provided a much better game against Wisconsin both times than we did. I do think we can win all our games. It's a bad pick because there are 2-3 much better picks. Sure MSU could pull it off but looking at things realistically, Nebraska or Michigan make much more sense. We'll see how good that MSU defense is when it has to stop the Huskers.
  3. Quote from Chuck Long- "He has awakened everyone up", speaking of Urban. What kind of school are they running over there in Iowa City? He is either trying to be controversial or he's just not very smart. Picking anyone in the legends besides Nebraska or Michigan is not well advised IMO. I like how he didn't even mention the Huskers. Good hire BTN.
  4. I can't think of any benefit of not letting a 9th or 10th grader play up to their ability. There are plenty of benefits of getting playing time at a lower level, having lots of success, and being with kids your own age but there are also benefits to being challenged more and elevating your game to a higher level. The only benefit of not being allowed to play up would possibly be if you were undersized or just plain couldn't hang with the older/bigger kids. In many cases and most sports, the kids that do the best are the ones who have been playing with older kids, siblings, etc. and getting that extra challenge on a regular basis.
  5. Barely passable to outdated facilities? Has this guy been to UNL? If we're second rate to anybody, there must be some super ridiculous facilities out there that I am not aware of. Lacking facilities are not a problem for the Huskers.
  6. The thing that I find really odd is that she brought a book along. Does a person in that position really need the "escape" of a good book? Unless that is the instruction book for the cliffside portable bed.......
  7. Well that's somewhat of a relief. Don't have to worry about Chinese midgets succumbing to heat exhaustion or hypothermia any longer.
  8. That's funny and I'm sure 100% accurate. A few weeks ago my 13 yr old daughter texted me "I Love You". That was somewhat out of character for her and she was at a sleepover with a group of friends. I figured one of her friends actually sent it and intended it for some boy to embarrass her. So, I responded "Good. What do you need?" She got a kick out of it.
  9. I'm not sure about FoCo Comcast but where I am Comcast put BTN on it's own little sports package. It's an 8 or 10 channel package that they soak ya another $5 for. It's not really a money issue but are those 8 channels so important they have to have their own package? BTN is only one of the bunch I ever watch.
  10. That was another tradition that BC flushed down the toilet.
  11. Man I thpught I was bad about watching football, particularly Husker games but you guys are nuts. It's pretty simple; you either need the second job and the extra income, so you make it work or, you don't need it and in that case, you do what you want. Believe it or not, there are things more important than watching a football game live. Personally I would suggest, if you need the job, don't even ask about the possibility of having weekends off for football season. Nobody needs you that bad as an employee. Either suck it up and try DVR with info lockdown, realizing it will occasionally be ruined, or quit now.
  12. Tried Stone Enjoy By IPA tonight. Stuff is amazingly fresh and hoppy. They brew this stuff and rush it to select liquor stores and label it with the name "Enjoy by 08-02-2013 IPA" (or whatever date is only 30 days after the brewing date). It's a little pricey at about $10 for a bomber but, if you like high hop IPAs and appreciate an exceptionally fresh beer, I highly recommend. Side note; this stuff tastes remarkably close to the IPA I home brew so you know it's good ;-)
  13. Happy Bday NUance. Have an extra bourbon to celebrate.
  14. thanks for the nomination JJhusker1...means a lot If it helps, I'm no ball of joy to be around on game day either. Wife complains cuz I'm constantly bitching about something (missed tackles, lack of speed, dumb decisions, etc). I'm ok when we're playing well but, when we're not, it can get ugly. Luckily, I've recently learned (last CCG) that I can turn off the TV and simply walk away. I've only done that once but I think it will be easier to do again if required.
  15. I'm not positive but I think the worst person to be around on game day might be husker_99.
  16. I think the penalty of losing home games is an excellent idea IF the goal is to reduce/eliminate cheating. Sure there are implementation problems but, in theory, it would work wonders. Side note for teacher. I really hope you were not being completely serious when you said you don't care if NU cheats but don't mess with your partying time. If you were serious, please don't "teach" any ethics or morals to our youth.
  17. No. I really wouldn't have a problem with this ending in a tie. Both could and should be considered two of the best at their respective positions. Barry was a great player, no question about that. I guess I just don't feel the need to get my vote exactly perfect. Not that voting for either one of these guys is wrong but, we're Husker fans. We don't have to weigh every detail and stat. We should easily be able to pick Tommie over Barry in this sort of contest. I'm just a little disappointed it's a one point affair and some feel the need to try to explain why they think Tommie is not a legitimate choice. Maybe I'm not operating in the proper spirit. I know Sanders is also worthy but I voted for Tommie cuz he's a Husker.
  18. First Weiner was in, then he was out. It's been in and out and in and out for quite awhile. These latest accusations should bring things to a rather messy climax.
  19. Carlsbad Caverns were worth going 4 hours out of the way. Words cannot adequately describe their awesomeness.

  20. One things for sure, it will be a long, hard, stiffly contested Weiner campaign. Latest polls show him rising and petering out towards the end.
  21. Are you sure you Sanders voters are not being influenced by Barry's pro career or Tommies stories of asshattedness since his playing days? Maybe I've got too much built in homer but I don't thinl it's a stretch at all to pick Tommie.
  22. Update on Roswell NM; sure wouldn't be worth the trip alone but UFO museum and Alien Zone were good for a couple hours , on way to Carlsbad. one thing I learned is that the government sure did want to coverup whatever happened here in 1947. It sure wasn't a weather balloon, their "official" story.

The only thing I'd guess is a military equipment cover-up...if it wasn't that, then...?

Sure are a lot of affidavits and death bed confessions about alien beings found at crash site, 2 dead and 1 possible survivor. IDK.

  23. Win 11 or more games. One of our losses will be a headscratching meltdown igniter. Defense will be immensely improved and offense will not be as overpowering as many have predicted.
  24. How so? (Not a loaded question . . . I'm genuinely curious. I don't think that I've noticed much change . . .) Just personal experience with the home budget. More trouble keeping all the bills paid, less discretionary spending, less going towards retirement. I don't do much of the grocery shopping but wife is constantly mentioning how this or that has increased in price or how many items have stayed same price but quantity/size has gotten smaller. One of the problems is that my business lost money in 2010 and 2011 then we did ok in 2012. So now the quarterly taxes with no profit distribution is a bitch. Add in still increasing health insurance premium plus another big jump when I turned 50 a few months ago. So, currently we are losing ground instead of growing the nest egg. I don't want to whine too much cuz it could be much worse, I'm just not accustomed to it but it is very noticeable. It seems as if we have gone from upper middle class to lower middle with really no reduction in take home pay in a mere couple of years.
