  1. If Joe knew about it for decades, and of course he and many others all around the athletics departments knew, he IS a molester as far as I am concerned. Anyone who allows that kind of sick disturbed and horrible stuff is just as sick and disturbed. It is some of the worst possible behavior imaginable. So many were outraged over a simple DUI ticket and fender bender and wanted the 'death penalty' for Williams. To 'honor' a pedophile / child abuser / 'coach' as someone worthy of anything other than scorn and disgust is in itself disgusting. Shame on all who participate.
  2. Memorial Stadium is Earthquake Proof and has withstood 8.0 and higher shakes during some big OU/NU "'turkey bowl" games back in the day and has been beefed up to take the 90,000 plus rockin and stompin' crowds. No danger to anybody in the stadium except of course the Fresno bunch. They have to endure a beating that will be hard to measure on any scale. LOL
  3. Silent commits are good but signed letter commits are GREAAAAT!
  4. It is a 'sign' from God - he's ready for the Huskers to shake, rattle, rumble, rock and roll! GBR!
  5. The Huskers have a good day! Spread the wealth but ultimately it all revolves around Tommy A. Play hard, play fast and play nonstop! Don't back off until the last second ticks off the clock! Keep the pedal to the metal! We have a lot of growing, improving, refining, developing, fixing, etc., as this is only game one. By the time we are 4-0, we can think about preserving and protecting but until we are there, nobody is spared and nobody backs off. No holds barred! Dominate, dominate, dominate!
  6. The 'plan' they seem to be describing is to field the '97 Huskers tonight! LOL What in the heck have they been drinking since last night? For about 15 months now they have been 'downing' and 'dismissing' the Huskers and wondering whether they can win half their games or if or when Riley should be fired! Now, all of a sudden, they are demanding that they play like national title contenders? For Pete's sake, they haven't even played the first game and already setting them up to fall short by setting the bar at the penthouse level? Why would anyone (but me who has high hopes but NOT demands) expect them to be the Huskers of twenty years ago. Run, run run? Keep Tommy from passing? Nonsense.
  7. There is a basic reason Hillary and Bill don't talk to the press. Every time their lips are moving, lies spew out! Bill was a professional liar while Hillary is not. She is not even a creative one. Being a bad liar is NOT a qualification for President. Both of them should be in jail. Their money grabbing schemes are not even close to being legal - the Democrats just can't have their spiritual royalty be honest and law abiding citizens - that just won't suffice - they need models we can all aspire to be! LOL
  8. Obama has spoken an unscripted line in about 8 years. He is not a good speaker but he reads the teleprompter fairly well. Hillary chooses each and every weasel word carefully but still gets caught in bald faced lies every time she answers a question. That's why she's afraid to take a question and has not answered a single unscripted question truthfully in about a year. LOL And she's running for President. Good grief! Why would anybody vote for that evil woman.? Trump has been criticized by so many for speaking off the cuff and has been answering questions and giving totally unscripted speaches and campaigning all over the country for a year! No other candidate has done this in a race for President in a half century. Attempting to complain because Trump actually plans what he says and then says it is pretty much silly.
  9. We need to make a new position on this board called: The Minister of Propaganda. And I want 84huskerlaw to fill this position. 84huskerlaw is the kind of spin doctor who could make you believe the massive brush fires in California are nothing more than your next door neighbor burning his dead leaf pile. With all the arguing on this board and general turmoil regarding our program over the past few decades he can use his unbridled optimism to convince not just our wayward fans but other teams fans that all in fact is well. Even as Harvey Perlman flings himself off a burning memorial stadium. Ps: I'm joking, obviously Nothing wrong with being optimistic when you can. Besides, with all the negativity on this board, somebody has to try to put a little 'balance' in the whole mess.
  10. Penn State should be prohibited by the Big Ten from participating in any sports for a period of 10 years and unless the PSU admits its absolute guilt and shame in this entire affair, they should be banished from the Big Ten membership as well. There are plenty of other 'good' schools that would honorably represent the Conference and NCAA athletics in general much better. Honoring a child molester (we all know these creeps 'hunt in packs') is hideous.
  11. I will be a lot happier once Riley gets his 114th win this seasonl in the title game! I am confident Mike will be too! And let's all hope it takes another 5 years before Riley hits a 100 losses.
  12. LOL Isn't Brent in a nursing home in New Jersey now?
  13. I think we will see tomorrow that Nebraska is a much better, more talented team than Fresno. We will win big. But, the pundits and commentators will dismiss the accomplishment because Fresno is terrible (not that Nebraska is better). Same goes for Wyoming. If we manage to defeat the Ducks, then the story will be Oregon has really slipped. We will get a little credit but once again they bottom line will discredit the opponent primarily. I believe the team is getting better and this year's team will be better than last year's team, considerably. We will be better on offense and defense and in special teams (assuming our new punter is pretty decent). We will return more punts and do better on kick off returns. Coverage has a chance to be marginally better. Defense will be faster/quicker and better in stopping down field plays, but I am concerned we may not be as stingy against the straight ahead run plays. I will credit both the depth chart and the time the coaches have now had to instill their systems and plans and get the guys 'on board'. We will, as Riley likes to say, play something that 'looks a lot like football!"
  14. There were very few federal crimes back then so would not be many prisoners as a result. Now there are thousands of offenses and many more prosecutions, etc. It is not within the basic discretion of a prosecutor to simply declare he or she will no longer prosecute entire types of crimes or crimes within particular categories. Just as a President or Govornor or other authority cannot simply grant en masse pardons, paroles, clemency or other similar executive or prosecutorial actions. The executive and prosecutorial authorities do not have carte blanche to decide what particular laws will be enforced or not. They have some general level of discretion in any particular case, based on the particular facts which may be mitigating or exonerating or otherwise warrant not taking legal action. They have charging discretion but again these 'choices' must be soundly based upon the law, the particular facts and the evidence available. Simply deciding to not prosecute particular crimes or particular types of offenses or more importantly particular types of offenders (such as by race, religion, etc.) is NOT within the perview of the general term 'prosecutorial discretion'.
  15. I remain very positive. Nebraska 52 - Fresno - 7. We will romp. They won't stop us and we'll stuff them pretty consistently. We start with the opening kick off return by Bryant as I predicted weeks ago. Huskers roll.
  16. Transparency for this Obama bunch? LOL Latest news coming out now is Obama directly and blatantly lied repeatedly about the Iran Nuke deal, telling multple lies about its contents and purposes and terms and Iran's active compliance. This is National Security deception and borders on treasonous action. They are still 'releasing' emails from 2012 Hillary Clinton activities and claim they need another 2 years to review and release more! Good grief: we all know they review and monitor the actions of high office public officials each day as they are going by. No reason to require 4 or more years to review the emails of one employee. They have tens of thousands of do nothing 'employees' that could look through the entire 4 years of communications in a couple weeks.
  17. I really think the BTN and Big Ten 'establishment' and insiders in general do not want Nebraska to rise up from the dead and take control of the West division. They brought Nebraska in because we are a national brand whom they (Michigans, Ohio States, Penn State, Mich State, and presumably others) felt we were very 'beatable').
  18. Good timing assuming it was done before the DUI ticket/accident. The University not on the hook for the vehilce or anything. No liability there. This is the VERY BEST reason to discontinue furnishing vehicles to employees and so on. Now the memberships? Never made any sense to me. Now letting the employees use the facilities and free entry passes to all events, etc makes perfect sense. Really doesn't cost anything to let them in free and I would say it should be a condition of employment that all staff and coaches must attend a fixed number of other sports' events, etc.
  19. Disgusting. It is painfully obvious to all with reasoning capacity that Paterno and many others were at least passive participants in the cover up if not the crimes directly. Sandusky was a predator in plain view for decades of small boys in and around the athletic facilities and even traveling with the team to away games, etc. Anybody who saw the guy 'hanging with little boys' not his own and sleeping in motel rooms on road trips with them could not avoid being aware. To honor someone who either aided and abetted or deliberately allowed it to continue for years and years is just awful. Thumbs down. I am not sure we should 'honor' Penn State by playing them in the future if they are going to continue to honor a child molester or someone who tolerates it. To be even more frank, in my view, someone who allows such disgusting criminal conduct to go on in his program is just as guilty as the perp himself.
  20. What would actually happen if Fresno declines the DOG penalty? Would we line up again to punt it again? It's a little confusing to me because I think of all the times teams take a DOG penalty on purpose to give their punter more room to work with - couldn't the opposing coach just decline that penalty again and again? I think two delay of game penalties in a row - the second should include 'loss of down' and therefore the opponent takes over on downs.
  21. I suppose ColoradoHusk is just describing himself with all of these, in one form or another. Most die hard fans have many of these traits. Without about 82,000 or so of these 'types' the stadium would not exist.
  22. Toughness is a major part of 'talent' in my view. I think the glaring omission in this entire discussion of recruiting class rankings is the question of meaningfulness of the rankings and reliability thereof. Nebraska's 1995 is widely held to be the best team ever. Nobody has shown us a better one, even after 20 years of champions since. That team may have had some good recruiting classes but it was not filled with 5 star players. The difference between a 3 star with "Husker heart" and determination compared to a 5 star player with ego and selfish attitude is glaring. We want the player with heart and 3 star level skills as opposed to the superstar that has the wrong mindset.
  23. Nate Clouse said on 1620 today that staff did/does want 3, but 3 different types and Miles as the H-Back/FB apparently counts in that 3 along with Leito and Allen. So he thinks the staff has hit its quota and doesn't think they will pursue another TE unless it is a top tier prospect like josh Falo who you take no matter what. Hm? Apparently many people, who don't make snide comments on this board, think that tight ends can and do play other positions. Nebraska does NOT need 6 tight ends on scholarship. We are short on linemen, QBs, RBs, already.
  24. Both Tommie F and Scott F were excellent 'option' QBs and we ran the option a bunch in the mid to late 90s. I think it is fair to say that the option was a bread and butter of the offense. Those FB traps and QB keepers to the outside were mostly in 'option' action plays. In fact, I believe it was during this time that the phrase "Osbone" was coined to describe some of the option formations and plays that Osborne pretty much originated or included in his running offensive approach. We also had basic I formation power stuff and drop back and play action and shot gun passing and ran lots of QB draws out of the shot gun as well. We continued running 'option' in Frank's years as well. However, I never felt Eric C pitched the ball nearly enough. In fact, my opinion was that our option pitch out plays to the I backs at the corners didn't work as well as Crouch ran too fast and got ahead of Buckhalter/Alexander, etc. The stagger was not as it needed to be. Just my feeling at the time. I still strongly believe that the Wishbone as perfected by Switzer teams at OU and the Osbone if you want to call it that of the last 6 years under TO were the most difficult to defend offenses every designed in the college game of the modern era. Still nothing to this day that is better. Oh! The good old days! I long for their return. We ought to implement them. Tommy Armstrong could be an excellent Osbone QB in my opinion - a natural almost.
