  1. Well if there was any unit that desperately needs to do better next year, it's his group. So I hope he can be the leader.
  2. Bo's best moments were a 1 second loss to Texas in the Big 12 title game and a Holiday Bowl win. He had ample time to prove himself at Nebraska and he couldn't get past 9-4 with the typical big game losses and blowouts. He wasn't getting any better, he wasn't suddenly going to win a conference title, especially when (regardless if you agree with how it got leaked) his true feelings towards many of the things at Nebraska were found out.
  3. The Cali connection is good for the playmakers, but we need to be going into Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio for those beefy lineman recruits. Basically the lineman who are going to Wisconsin, should be coming to Nebraska.
  4. I disagree. If Nebraska is continuously 9-3 or 10-2, and routinely in the talk for legit conference and national championships, and we win a few along the way, say in a 10 year span, I doubt anyone will be saying 9 wins ain't good enough. The key is, we gotta at least be winning conference titles every now and then. In a 10 year period, say 2017-2026, if we can win 2-3 conference titles and consistently in the mix nationally, I'd be perfectly happy with that. Pretty sure that was implied. Nobody is complaining about winning 9 or 10 games. The problem is ONLY winning 9 or 10 against the worst of our schedule and nothing more to go with it. Of course losing a couple of those 3 or 4 losses in spectacular fashion doesn't help either. Re-read @Boneyard's reply above. I know what that one comment of his says. But, I think I've read enough of his other posts to know that the tune would be different, if like you said, we were regularly in contention for winning the division and conference and sniffing at the playoffs even once in awhile. We all complain about 9 wins because, around here, that is code for the pinnacle of what this program has accomplished over the past way too many years. Not too many (although there are a few) who are satisfied with the lack of meaningful wins and championships. It's not the 9 or 10 wins per se that are the problem but the complete lack of anything more. Thank you, and yes you are correct. 10-3 with blow out losses in big games is what I meant and being 10-3 without being in contention for conference titles.
  5. 9 wins don't cut it around here, so don't act surprised. Even 10-3 seasons around here get old quick. Competing against the elite and being considered one of the elite is where we want and should be.
  6. Heard he said YSU was back and they were there to stay after the win.
  7. Haha! Touche And GET OFF MY LAWN! Haha wasn't totally directed at you. The recruiting forum has become really negative, Matty isn't even a total sunshine pumper lately That happens every year about this time. We get done with the season and it probably didn't finish how we wanted so everyone starts looking at recruiting and sees we haven't had a commit for months. Even though we have some really good players considering us, every time someone indicates one of them probably will pick someone else many people get all depressed and start thinking we suck and our coaches suck and we will never be able to compete with anyone better than Purdue. ... and then we get a couple years down the road and people are complaining that we need better talent to compete. So .... Oregon State is ranked 2 spots ahead of Nebraska...Now, they do have two more commits...and NU has a higher star ranking but this might end up being the highest ranked Beaver class in the last 15 years. I guess they relocated Corvallis. I don't know if JC recruits factor into the recruiting rankings, but the beavers just got one of the best JC recruiting classes ever yesterday.
  8. Well you see, rankings are intended to compare us to others... considering we haven't gotten any commits in the last 7 days, and other schools have, it makes sense we have fallen. Our prospects aren't any better/worse this week than they were last week. Thank you. I guess I don't really get how the recruiting rankings work then.
  9. Nebraska might be a small state in population, but I find it hard to believe that Nebraska can't get 10 state kids who are beasts on the line, especially when you have the farm boys. And maybe 3 skilled players. That's 13 kids who can make an impact on the team. Now, it is my understanding that with the advancement of technology on farm equipment and on farms, the good ol fashion farm boys isn't really around anymore.
  10. What in the world has happened to our recruiting class? Last week when i looked Nebraska was about 24th and now they are 36th? If this class doesnt finish in the top 20 I will be highly dissapointed.
  11. I don't live in Nebraska, but how does a state like Nebraska, who eats sleeps breathes football, especially Nebraska football, not produce some great in state talent? I would imagine kids growing up in Nebraska with Cornhusker football being their life, they would dream of someday wearing that N on their helmet and playing for Nebraska. So why aren't kids growing up playing and thinking about football every day and bettering themselves everyday? The youth football programs in the state of Nebraska should be a football making factory preparing Nebraska kids to grow up to be talented Cornhuskers.
  12. Wisconsin used the Nebraska model to blossom out of the ruins and become a competitive football program. Now Nebraska needs to use the Wisconsin model to rise from the ashes and compete in the B1G.
  13. Maybe that is why Les Miles visited with his son this last weekend. It was a secret interview by the Red Fox Eichorst! But, in all seriousness it seems like the Rams are looking to energize a fan base with a big time splash hire. Gruden, Harbaugh, Shaw, and Riley. One of those names would not satisfy a fan base trying to get behind a struggling franchise in a huge market. How does Gruden and Harbaugh not energize an LA market? My goodness, Gruden has been tied to every single coaching vacancy since 2003 and Harbaugh is maybe one of the most energizing coaches out there. Unless you are thinking the folks in LA want Tom Hanks?
  14. Is it unrealistic to ask for us to beat Wisconsin and Iowa?
  15. I am fully confident Riley will retire at Nebraska.
  16. JP seemed to have gotten off to a hot start when he first joined, but has since fizzled off it seems. I haven't noticed us getting any of those big mean lineman.
  17. Does Calabasas have a giant Offensive lineman that would like to join Nebraska?
  18. Last year with our 6-7 season we would have loved to have a 9-3 year. Improvements were made across the board this season compared to last year. What we need to desperately do is get a monster Offensive line and Defensive line so we can start to win the big games.
  19. I want to see an Offensive Line that shows they can dominate the opponents line.
  20. I like the optimism, but I am not so sure. Nebraska will be taking a first year starting QB into a hostile environment against a team that is very skilled and will be looking for revenge. It will be Taggart and Co. first real test to show Oregon is capable of winning these types of games again. Oregon was a very young team this year and they return just about everyone.
  21. I don't think the word "Settled" is the right word. He wasn't the first choice, but after the recommendations that were made to the admin about him it was hard to say no. A lot of people will be surprised at the changes of Oregon's play on the field. They played with just athleticism last year. No heart, no discipline, and no respect for the Helfrich. I'm probably optimistic and maybe a little biased but I like to think I hold a decent opinion. I guess I try to be informed about who the guy is. Not saying anyone in here isn't informed. I just think people hold a negative view of a guy that has turned around 2 programs that were in the dumpster. He had the 120th ranked defense at South Florida. Also, saying the players didn't have respect for Helfrich is silly, you saw their reaction to Helfrich when he was fired. They knew he had their back. Now Helfrich may have been a little too hands off and laid back and the players took advantage of that, which I think Taggart will be the opposite. I think Oregon will certainly be better next year and probably get 7-9 wins. I just hope Nebraska is ready for them. It's going to be the same old spread offense at Oregon like he ran at USF.
  22. He wasn't Oregon's first choice, and I don't think he was Oregon's 2nd or 3rd choice. I think the Ducks settled with him, but they will tell their fans he was their only choice.
  23. We need to look at how Wisconsin built their basketball program and do it the same way.
  24. I am sure if you tweet him he will respond to your question.
