  1. I think Big Ern's prediction of 27-21 Nebraska is pretty accurate.
  2. Indiana is a good football team that i am concerned about playing. However, you could look at this years Nebraska team as 2015 Iowa team the way their schedule is shaping up. Are we really the #10 team in the country? I don't know, we've shown we can be, and we've shown we could blow this thing quickly. Regardless, I am going to enjoy this ranking for as long as we have it. I also feel this team is much better then and more capable of the ranking then the 2011 #9 ranked Nebraska team. I feel this team can hang with anyone, that '11 team I felt was going to get blown out against a team with a pulse.
  3. With Houston losing, most likely #9 Tennessee losing. Umm Nebraska may be a top 10 team going into Indiana next week?
  4. This is going to be a game lot like the Illinois one I think. It's going to be close, but Nebraska wins. 6 wins by October 16, matching our entire win total of last year. GBR!
  5. Indiana is showing they are not going to be a pushover.
  6. Is #12 too high? Probably. After Illinois I think it shows there are still some flaws with this team, but they still find a way to adjust and win so you have to give them credit. Also other teams are losing that are ahead of Nebraska so that is kind of how the polls work. Regardless, Nebraska keeps climbing, keeps getting a better number by their name and it shows national attention in some way that must help with recruiting and must help with confidence with this team as they continue to gel and learn with this coaching staff.
  7. Offense really needs a touchdown. They need some sort of momentum to get this thing turned around.
  8. Thankfully held them to only 3 points there. I don't know why Illinois doesnt just pass all day long, as the looks are there.
  9. Unless they say Wilbon had possession by being on top of the ball and having it under or between his legs this is Illinois ball. have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot.
  10. Is it just me or does Wilbon fumble at least once a game?
  11. Need a stop on this opening drive, being down 10 would be disasterous given how poorly we have played today.
  12. Well not at all the half i wanted or expected. Thankfully we are a second half team and hopefully that continues today.
  13. Coming in at #15 in this game, this is a game I hope Nebraska controls and dominates out of the gate. Would be happy if this thing was a 3 score Nebraska lead going into halftime.
  14. Yeah it costs Hawaii a ton to travel.
  15. Notre Dame, blackballed by its neighbors, was forced to travel long ago and became a national university as a result (because they were successful). With that being the case, I don't think you can equate their travel needs with ours even before you consider how much nearby talent they have. E.g., Chicago loves ND and they're just 90 miles away. As for recent success, they made the national title game just a few years ago. Not being in a conference hasn't really hurt them until recently (since the playoff committee "rules" favor conferences) and, even then, their not having participated has more to do with them than not being in a conference. Yes they did recently make the NCG, but they got blown out and I don't know, I never really saw them as a threat to win the national title, more a product of their weak schedule. You are right about them having to travel to recruit is different because they play all over the place. But still, besides that 2012 season has Notre Dame really been a top competitive program in the last 10?15?20? years? I know they have been a big program because well they are Notre Dame, have their own NBC sports contract, had their special BCS bowl tie in deal, but given all that Notre has and had, and their flexibility of having a very easy schedule, yet their lack of on field success is the reason I would see them as an overrated job.
  16. What makes his article lose all credibility is calling Penn State an overrated coaching job. If anything Penn State is an underrated coaching job at this point. There is a load of talent in the Northeast area and lot of it is right there in the state of Pennsylvania. Not to mention Penn State has a extremely huge and loyal fan base and I can only assume very good facilities. I have read many articles that have Penn State as a top 10 head coaching destination. As far as having Nebraska on that list, as others have stated they may be biased, and I too may be biased, but the only downside to Nebraska as a job would be the recruiting aspect. Having to travel all over the country to recruit players. But other then that I would see Nebraska as at least a top 15-20 head coaching job. Think about it, you have support (or lack of support) from the entire state (Depending on your success), you have rich tradition, grade A facilities, you play in the B1G and the "weaker" division within the B1G, loads of money, etc, etc. Again the only downside to the Nebraska job would be the recruiting which I think can be overcome with all the positives the job brings. Miami isn't an overrated job. Miami is currently a sleeping giant. Once that thing gets going, they have the entire ACC to dominate. Notre Dame I do agree with. Tough academics, must travel all over the place to get players, not much recent success, no conference affiliation. The 50-60 year olds that is your target market unfortunately do no have any eligibility left to play at ND. So Notre Dame is only a hot name due to their history of many decades ago. So I do agree with the writer that Notre Dame is an overrated job.
  17. So awesome boneyard...I was at that game too with my son (it was an 8-hour drive). We had a great time and glad to see you got to experience your first game at Memorial Stadium. Thank you. We live on the west coast so we flew in Friday, enjoyed some great food in downtown Lincoln, toured outside the stadium and then experienced game day in Lincoln. I won't tell my wife this, but that might have been the best day of my life. Wow, that is so cool. Did you feel the earthquake? We were on the top floor of the Holiday Inn and our entire room was shaking. No. Everyone talked about it but we never felt it. After the experience I do plan on buying a vacation home in Lincoln for when I retire I can spend Falls in Lincoln, NE. As many retirees will buy vacation homes in tropical areas to go for the Winter, I intend on spending Falls in Nebraska with hopes of getting game tickets too, but if I can't get tickets just experiencing downtown Lincoln on game day is a treat.
  18. And to 3Gun, I recommend Buzzard Billy's and Leadbelly for some good food.

  20. The thing is with nice guys is when they get mad it gets through to you, because they never get mad. With Bo he yelled and was in your face all the time that I am sure it eventually just went through one ear and out the other with the players. If Riley gets mad I am sure you can hear a pin drop in Lincoln.
  21. Lifelong Cornhusker fan as well and I got the absolute joy to see my first game in Nebraska against Fresno State. Absolutely amazing experience, the whole thing was a weekend I will never forget. I have no shame in saying there were tears when the tunnel walk began.
  22. Does history have to automatically repeat itself here? I hope not. And to be honest, I don't think it has to. In BC's second season, after 4-0 start, he lost 4 out of the next 5. Three of those teams were unranked. In BP's second season, he started 2-1, and through seven games they were 4-3. And yes, two of those losses were against unranked opponents. Not such a rosy picture to paint after all. I think this team is playing good football and that Riley is doing a good job. This team just feels different then those previous Nebraska teams. During this 4-0 start I keep thinking back to the 2010 team. Where we got as high as #6 that year. However, at the time I was excited about being #6 I never felt comfortable or confident we really were deserving of that rank. This team and program under these coaches has a different feel to it. IF we can get to a top 10 ranking, it will feel like a deserved top 10 ranking.
  23. I am not one for moral victories, BUT if we can go into Ohio State week 8-0, and keep it close vs the buckeyes I will be very happy. 8-1 with a close battle in Columbus would IMO keep momentum there to be hungry for a rematch in the B1G championship game where IMO, if we go into 11-1 could be in a win and you're in the playoff sort of deal. But of course lots of football left to be played. Also at the beginning of the season I would have never thought even talking about playoffs would be a plausible scenario.
  24. Let's win this weekend vs Illinois, go to 5-0 and get ready for one fun October!
