  1. And then people will be saying of our 4-8 win seasons that Riley does so well with so less!
  2. would you walk away from that kind of money? Absolutely not. But I am not a nice guy Even if I was a nice guy I wouldn't walk away from the money so I don't expect him to do so. Riley never got this heat at Oregon state...he could have seasons like this and no one would care. Life is different with Nebraska. I cant imagine he is enjoying this that much. He probably isn't use to this, and probably doesn't want to deal with this so late in his career. I hope he walks away.
  3. Oregon State is currently getting better recruits than Riley got there in years.
  4. It makes sense. Given he did more with less statement, the thought was a coach of his expierence could come into Nebraska and win right away, and I was not expecting 10-12 win seasons, I thought the first year was a 7-8 win type season, then we progressed the following years. But, instead, somehow this man has completely failed and this is suddenly the worst Nebraska team in the last 40 years. And Callahan was here not too long ago! I figured after the hire Riley was here at max 5 years, regardless of success because he is 62. I figured he would come in and we would feel good about the first year and he would start to have his success, then retire...Then we have to rebuild again. Those saying let him have 4 years. Ok? So we rebuild in 4 years? Or just admit the mistake now, adn rebuild immediately. Plus, with how bad this season is, next year is a rebuilding year anyways. Just move on here. No need to keep a failure around.
  5. Also, a new coach at this point will be instant revival....You come into a program after this dumpster fire and things can only go up. He wouldn't be in the shadows of seven consecutive 9 win seasons. He would be coming into a program that has lost its identity and is coming off a 3-9 season. You can only go up. Also, if he is younger, I would be more comfortable giving him some time to turn things around. Nebraska was a consistent mid 20-30 recruiting class each year, they had 7 consecutive 9 win seasons...This 40+ year experiecne coach did not inherit a terrible team. He should have upgraded from what he had at Oregon State. But you look at OSU and see that after 10+ years of coaching there the guy has left the cupboard bare in Corvallis, and this new coach is geetting together a great recruiting class. Beaver fans, even with their terrible season have hope because of their new coach is showing improvements. No excuse for Nebraska to be THIS bad. No excuse for a coach with this much experience to get completely outcoached in every loss. Lets not forget we barely beat Southern Miss as well. This thing somehow could have been even worse. Riley needs to go. Hope he retires since he is such a nice guy. I';ve said it many times before. I dont see what is so wrong with coming out and publically admitting your mistake and bad hire, and move on. Looks better than trying to cover up this ugly mess and trying to ride it out hoping it gets better. I am also sure there is some booster out there well ready to help contribute to the buyout of Riley if we need to go that way.

    Hey guys

Heck, at this point I just want a coach who shows a little emotion on the sidelines, looks like he actually works, and we beat Illinois, Purdue, a down Northwestern team, and Minnesota. Doesn't seem like too high expectations for me. In fact, at this point, any coach who comes in, who is younger than 55 will feel like a savior to me.
  7. Riley has ended most streaks already in his first year. Let this one be ended as well.
  8. Pretty hopeful we are seeing the local media start to ask these questions. Get this fire burning. Get the movement out there. I will personally send a check to any reporter who asks Riley in one of his interviews, they ask Riley if he is going to resign. This is utter BS.
  9. The people saying he wont be fired after 1 year because there will be no coach worth anything who would want to come here... You know what, Scott Frost would. And I get it, Frost may not be the guy for the job, he may be years away from being a good head coach. But I would be fine with a young Frost at the helm losing than an old washed up Riley at the helm, where I know he will be gone in a few years anyway due to age. Let Frost come here, stick it out for many years. I will take a 3-9 Frost team over a 3-9 Riley team ebcause at least there would be hope Frost turned things around... This is so bad. Nebraska football is a complete joke. We continue to be a joke with this nice guy at the helm. I have no hope for this dude.
  10. youth movement everywhere but the coaching staff.
  11. I really really really dont see how Riley would survive this, IF indeed we lose to 1-5 Purdue.....It would be beyond embrassing...and Michigan State next weekend..oh dear goodness. Would be nice if he left Riley at the terminal at the airport like USC did to Lane Kiffin.
  12. Where is that thread that asked the question if we could 0-5 in month of October.................although we somehow got a win vs Minnesota, that thread was pretty close.
  13. Riley is such a nice guy, he makes teams like illinois and purdue feel good about themselves. Noble Peace Prize by chance?
  14. if we were 5-3 there would be excitement and hope for Riley's next 4 years. But amazing what a win and loss record does for a team. 3-5 and everything is gloomy.
  15. what if a BYU fan said before their season opening game against Nebraska that Mangum would come in, who hasnt played football in 2 years, and had only practiced for about 2 weeks was going to come in and light up the Nebraska defense and throw a game winning hail mary?
  16. I really like and respect Jerry Kill. Good luck coach.
  17. I dont see Riley firing his friends as he has been with them forever and he hasnt made changes yet, even when they didn't do well at oregon state. And not a knock on Riley's "nice guy" persona, but he is a nice guy and knows these coaches uprooted their lives from Corvallis to move to Lincoln...If Riley has enough time, he will keep his coaches for another year. If he doesn, I'd love to see him go after Frost as OC and simply say he's coach in waiting. That would make me feel a lot better about things. Hell, if Frost is named head coach in waiting, I would be all for Riley being here 4-5 years.
  18. I'm just saying we shouldn't judge him by the first 8 games, because its apparent not all the players have bought in. It's not his fault either, cause it is something he inherited. We could use more people like Gangwish in the locker room. IMO, it is part of a coaches job to get players to buy into your system first year. By this point of the season, the coaches should know as well who has bought in and who hasn't. Those who haven't bought in should be benched. I don't see that happening.
  19. I picked up an extra shift at work this Saturday.
  20. The fact Callahan has 5 votes is astonishing and says a lot..
  21. Honest question that probably deserves it's own thread... Ever thought MR and Co. don't care? Just think about that for a second. They know they will get time, they know they won't get fired after one year. But will they get the recruits they want if they don't run the things they are trying telling them they are going to do with them? Is POB coming if TA is running it 15x a game and handing it off to Newby 30x a game? Is Keyshawn Jr and Co. Coming if Westerkamp and other top WR are only getting 2 targets a game? Just a random thought I had when I read your post... Pretty interesting thought, and probably a lot of weight to this. However, the coaches not caring and knowing they won't be fire after one year. That is true, but simply going out there and not worrying about these losses and being loose about them, albeit might not get fired after year one, it is going to create extreme stress for year 2. Especially looking at the scenario politically given a new chancellor coming in, possibly changes at AD, etc. I get why these coaches or a first year coach may think, the hell with this current season, we gotta get our guys. This might have been what Riley was thinking at first, but now realizes he just turned his own seat super hot.
  22. Kids from the 90s are very different from kids today. There is a self entitlement to this current generation.
