  1. Armstrong nearly threw another interception on the extra point just for the hell of it.
  2. NU football began declining when we let a former football coach hire the next one. Think about it.
  3. Also having Tommy Armstrong as your best available QB, and having no effective running backs on the team.
  4. Actually, no. It's lack of depth in talent. Incompetent recruiting over last few years.
  5. I think everyone should admit that we have rather serious talent deficiencies at QB (none available,4-deep) or running back (a few average ones, when healthy). Also, receivers appear to be new to their positions.
  6. (1) What's the matter with you? Maybe you should find a meaningful hobby. (2) Pellini's sh**ty recruiting is not Riley's fault.
  7. Give it up, guys, the wishbone will never come back.
  8. Then perhaps if we're worried about having a no-star QB we shouldn't have called 50+ pass plays and relied more on our 4* RBs Repetition is the mother of finesse. It will be fine.
  9. I believe that this year's NU team has a talent deficit relative to past years; also, much of the team can be seen as round pegs, whereas the new coach's vision is of a football field comprised of square holes.
  10. I might also add that traditions don't win football games. Talent, coaching, and a tad bit of luck DOES win football games. We, as fans, are fortunate enough to witness the process.
  11. These players are fans as well, though. We do have that in common. Don't you worry about a thing, folks. Get up in the morning, put on your pants, and go to work. Do your job, and enjoy college football. I'm personally enjoying NU football a lot this year. Winning is better, of course, but some things are more important than winning . . . didn't someone say that once? Seeing a team in complete transition isn't always pretty, but it is interesting. I'm looking for the new faces we'll be hearing more from in the future. Have faith, be patient, and everything will be fine.
  12. Only the QB part is valid. We have good enough running backs and excellent receivers. Ever hear of Jordan Westerkamp? Sure, J.W. is a great one--but he didn't come from the last couple of recruiting years. You have to admit it that our talent pool lacks the standouts we had in previous years. We need to do a lot of recruiting, and obtaining those "special" players again will take time. Recruiting top talent really declined after Bill C. was fired.
  13. I'm always a fan! I love the game, and NU football has rich traditions that transcend W/L records. There's always gonna be a group of "fire the coach" fans out there that oppose any staff that weren't former NU players or coaches. As for me, the Huskers have a human resource issue this year. Riley needs to hire (recruit) his own people. It's as if Macy's bought a Walmart and tried to turn it into a new Macy's, using the former Walmart staff. It just won't happen. Did the former coaching staff forget to recruit QB's, receivers, and RB's, for freak sake?
  14. You're right, of course. Opinions are just opinions, and this list is somewhat meaningless. I happen to think that NU's tradition is a terrific strength that will ultimately assure continued success in the program, as long as the support base remains in place.
  15. I liked what I saw on the sidelines as well. The coaches and players seemed to be having fun for a change.
  16. "They called that draw play that one time when they should have called a trap, the play calling sucked."
  17. Well, yes, and thank you for expanding on my comments. Talent and ability may be less than many fans assumed it was; speed is speed, and when a DB gets beat on a fly route, things can happen. But, again, this NU team is and has been EXTREMELY competitive. The final scores have been heartbreaking, though.
