  1. First we can't keep containment, then we can't take an angle and swarm the ball. That is all coaching
  2. What are you talking about? Turner sunk too deep from the Los to where fyfe couldn't reach him.... Overall, not just one play. you're insane if you think the offensive is doing bad because of fyfe
  3. Should we just forfeit to Michigan State right now to avoid the embarrassment?
  4. the red pants look so beautiful
  5. There was a reason Osborne didn't offer Barry Sanders a scholarship...it just turned out it wasn't a very good one... I thought he offered him as a DB...or was that Faulk? I think both. I know TO offered Faulk as a DB. I don't know if Sanders was offered officially or not.sanders wasn't offered because they had already given Johnny rodgers' kid a scholarship
  6. Get him cm husker! This focker Cavanaugh thinks he know more about coaching the offensive line than you do! That derty sumbeach! Huh? Not sure why you threw this in this thread or called me out about substitutions. I've not said much, if anything, on the topic. But because you raised it, Cavanaugh is extremely misguided if he thinks these kids are going to "get ready" while never touching the field. Practice is great, but it can't simulate game situations. I don't care what the NFL does; guys rotate and need to rotate in college because that's how you gain experience and prepare for when the class turnsover. This is discussions is really related to another significant concern I have about this offense and the philosophy being instilled now: if you can't pass block, you can't play. That's why we have guys like Wilbon, who has showed flashes of real ability as a dynamic running back, riding the pine. Because the premium put on "pass pro" keeps guys on the bench. As I've said, Ameer would have struggled to see the field in this offense. And the same is true of certain OL men. Pass blocking is one of the most difficult tasks, mentally and physically, that you can put on an OL. It takes a ton of time in practice to work the various looks an OL may face in a given game and understand exactly how it fits together. Run blocking on the contrary, though it can be more complicated, is less reaction based and more aggressive. A guy has to learn his assignment and go execute, not learn his assignment based on a variety of situations, read the correct situation at game speed and then execute. I have a simple philosophy when it comes to college offense: reduce the number of "choices" or reads for a players by putting D's in a position where they have to commit to one look or another. This is true of the passing game, which is why I like option employed, as it simplifies defensive coverages usually. It's why I like run based offenses, because it makes it "easier" on the OL to know what he's doing and go out and exert his will on the opponent. No one can tell me that guys like Tanner Farmer, with his physical ability alone, doesn't deserve a look at game speed. We need to run an offense that gives our playmakers a chance. I heard that Tanner Farmer has stiff hips and that they're still trying to loosen him up. You can have all of the strength in the world, but if you can't rotate your body quickly as an offensive lineman you'll perform with bad technique and won't be in the right position to make a block.
  7. My sources have confirmed this. They also added that Tommy's leg has come completely off seems legit
  8. Thank you for answering this +1. I was wondering about that during the game and afterwards. Never knew. Stanley Morgan though, looks like a real good player. Who does he back up, Reilly's position? I thought he was having a great start as well and then gone.... I'm not sure what is going on with Morgan. It could be the inconsistencies of a true freshman.Morgan was the intended receiver on the failed 2pt conversion at the end of the game.
  9. Armstrong will be fine. obviously if I'm wrong we'll find out on Saturday when he's not starting, but my buddy says Armstrong does this a lot(seems hurt the beginning of the week and by Friday is totally fine)
  10. fyfe doesn't care. I have a friend that helps with the team that says fyfe legitimately could be better than Armstrong but he just doesn't care enough.
  11. I do know that he was in a boot after the first week of the year so if it very well could be a recurring injury that he's fighting.
  12. I just saw that TA sat out today from practice. Does anyone know if it's just precautionary or something maybe a little bit more serious? I didn't see anything about him being dinged up from last game, so I'm just curious if we should be concerned.
  13. I don't want to be the grammar police, I really don't. For the love of God it's lose, not loose.
  14. Sounds like you have friends that aren't real NU fans.my father has had season tickets since 2001 and on average probably misses one game a year, usually for family events. He's never left a game early; blowout win or blowout loss. He stays till the last second ticks off of the clock. In 2007 him and I only missed the Oklahoma state game despite the cirmustances that year. This year he was on the verge of selling the rest of his tickets after the wisky game, and then Minnesota happened and he came to the game last weekend. At this point, he feels like there's better ways he can spend his time than drive 3 and a half hours from Des Moines to watch an almost guaranteed less than 6 point loss and be frustrated with the team every second of the game. I'm just saying this because, yeah, every team has fair weather fans that only like to pay attention when things are going well but don't want to be part of it when the team isn't dominating. But now we have long time season ticket holders like my father who have gone to every home game they could and always make sure that they're by a TV with the Husker game on when there's an away game, thinking about skipping the rest of the year because they feel that they already know we'll lose and also because there's no excitement or energy with this team this year. Just my 2 cents
  15. Mavric, what you said is oddly familiar.
  16. yeah the same guy who was let go at Nebraska for sucking so much and currently is proving that being a head coach in the fbs is way harder than in the fcs. Yeah let's go with that guy... Bo is proving just the opposite right now.eh touché
  17. yeah the same guy who was let go at Nebraska for sucking so much and currently is proving that being a head coach in the fbs is way harder than in the fcs. Yeah let's go with that guy...
  18. I don't know if it's that they don't necessarily care, it's just that they clearly gave up at that point. Either way, that's not what a football team at any level is supposed to look like with 5 minutes left in a close game.
  19. Why is it so obvious to everyone to run the ball except for the coaches?
  20. I was in the student section so I was too far away to really see what was going on in detail. If what you say is true, though, that is pretty pathetic on Collins.
  21. I have a friend who helps out with the team (equipment, water, etc.) He says that fyfe is literally Alex Moran from blue mountain state:shows up late to practice sometimes and enjoys the perks of being a 2nd string qb. What it really is is this, fyfe knows he's not gonna have any chance at playing so he really just doesn't give a s**t
  22. Well AL golden just got fired. That makes it so USC, SCAR, Miami, and Maryland all have coaching vacancies. If I'm a coach that's the popular choice to be hired, why would I choose Nebraska over these schools if Nebraska were to fire Riley after one year after firing pelini for never winning less than 9 games. Im guessing all of these schools will pay top dollar or at least match what Nebraska might offer so we wouldnt have a money advantage. Most these schools except for maybe Maryland are considered better anyways, so there's zero chance we would get a big name coach or most likely the fan first choice unless it was frost.
