  1. ^ couldn't agree more with this statement. Rest of Bowfins post was all good as well but this in particular is a big reason why we haven't won in "convincing fashion" this year really. Not really close to hitting all cylinders, and we may not all year, but if we do every team on our schedule better watch out including tOSU.
  2. I have never been to Pullman, how does it compare to a place like Lincoln as far as being a college town? Pullman is in what is called the Polouse part of Washington it is ag country. They grow wheat on steep hills. Pullman is only about 35K people. The closest city is Spokane and it really isn't that big. It is probably oneo of the smallest college towns there is for a Power 5 team to be in. So basically Wazzu is a power 5 WNCC The entire city covers about 10 sq. Miles - so basically 9x smaller than Lincoln. Pullman as a whole has one highschool and shares a regional airport with Moscow, Idaho. Or; about half the size of Manhattan,KS. So similar in size to the Scottsbluff-Gering area. I was just making a joke but that said WNCC is right behind Wazzu in number of NFL hall of famers
  3. well you probably will be. Some of the teams we have left to play are pretty bad and while Nebraska isn't the best team either, losing to 2 teams we should absolutely not lose to, 2 teams we should be able to beat without too much fuss and a toss up game where we have a talent edge doesn't seem likely
  4. and the next week you have Alabama/TAMU. We could possibly wind up as high as 6 or 7 heading into the Wisconsin match up

  6. a little bit of hijacking but I also saw their QB is the worst in the BIG against the blitz, but surprisingly enough he has been blitzed the least. Theye did use QBR to determine this which can be unreliable but I think it would be wise for Banker to adopt the same game plan they are supposedly looking to use against us
  7. They actually did more thinking than feeling. Kneeling in front of the Montgomery buses would have been counterproductive. Boycotting the Montgomery city buses worked, but it took a lot of planning and coordination and effort to get everybody to work without using the buses. A lot of thought was involved making the boycott work. Kneeling and rioting doesn't involve so much effort, which is why we are seeing more of that and nothing concrete. I will know Kapernick and Rose-Ivey are serious when they start boycotting games, instead of playing for face time on the cameras. Then again, that would involve some risk and loss on their part, I don't know if either want to really go there. just because you think (don't know how to make cool colors like you) feeling doesn't matter, doesn't mean you're right. The most important things ever created started from feelings, more so actually, thoughts with emotion. People aren't computers. We all feel and have feeling behind what we think and I'm sorry but how YOU feel is what matters to literally everyone. It's all about what the individual feels. I feel bad for you if you arent using emotion to solve problems because I'm here to tell you every successful person ever got that way by feeling instead of thinking. Thoughts are meaningless unless there is emotion attached and that is a fact. Im sure Kap thought this out and also had alot of feelings behind it. Boycotting the bus system is different than boycotting the games these players play because the games aren't the issue. In Montgomery alabama the bus system, namely the arrest or Claudette Colvin for not giving up her seat, was an issue. See the difference? Kap doesn't have a grudge with the NFL he has a grudge with America and how they treat people of his race, so protesting the flag seems way more relevant to his cause than boycotting the NFL games
  8. what happened to powerhouse San Joaquin Delta?
  9. yes Next 4 weeks will tell us alot. By then we will be to the committees poll. There are alot of different scenarios but I'll simplify 4-0 would obviously put us into the top 4 I believe, assuming Ohio State doesn't drop the next 3 games. 3-1 would likely put us in the top 10 but going as low as 15 would be possible. Still would be in title contention unless we lost to an undefeated Wisconsin. 2-2 would likely put us into the 20-25 range but possibly we would be unranked. We lose any chance at the CFP and most likely take a backseat in the race for the west 1-3 would definitely drop us out of the rankings and would make winning the west nearly impossible 0-4 this would be a complete implosion and would take us out of the race for the west, struggling to make a bowl and likely putting HCMR on a very hot seat
  10. Next 4 weeks will tell us quite a bit about whether we "deserve it" or not
  11. If that's the case, our screen game, WR and RB, should be fairly effective. I am trusting that with the BYE week, our line should be relatively healthy and rested. screen game has been and will continue to be huge!
  12. theres a difference between saying this team isnt as good as some see it, and saying we're not deserving of the top 10 ranking. College football is nuts this year thus far. And we are being rewarded for winning the games we've played. other teams have lost. We have won. I agree with your stance. i dont see us world beaters all a sudden cuz we jumped 2-3 spots for not even playing. I'm not directing my remarks at you. I dont know that my remarks even apply to many on this very board. But i see a lot on twitter/sm/etc where people just cant help but discount any sort of positive news this program accrues. We are a top ten team right now cuz that's what we're rated. it's inargueable. now. my take is this. i am fully convinced watching all sorts of facets of the our games that this team is different. My whole issue-even in support of and just being patient for Pelini-was that it got to a point where we knew what to expect, and would then be proven right. This team is different. And until we go to Indiana, sh#t the pants, and meltdown and lose, I will not be convinced otherwise. All sorts of things are different. Beyond just football stuff. Exactly this. The culture change taking place is almost palpable
  13. Martinez was easily the most electric Nebraska QB of all time. This play is probably the most prime example of that but I guarantee no other husker QB has more runs of 75+ yards
  14. I see your point jaws. It will be a huge game with similar implications (loser most likely can't win a natty) but the winner has so much left to do the game loses some importance because the more important games are yet to come
  15. I did not even think about that Those tickets are ready going for about $250. If th y are 1 and 2...I bet the cheapest you could get would be 350 or maybe more You're underselling that like crazy. Average ticket prices in 2006 were over $1,000. Really? Dang...I guess I could see it happening. I don't remember the average price being over $1,000. I do remember getting offered $800 per ticket for my seats in 18A for that game but those were really good seats. Things have changed slightly since the 2006 game. With the addition of the conference championship game and the playoffs, I think some people aren't as willing to drop a lot of cash on the OSU/Mich game. The Game also was not on Thanksgiving weekend in 2006. wouldn't the intrigue of who is going to make the CCG and CFP add more drama?
  16. Most likely another closer game. It won't be down to the wire but it will be tight into the second half. Nebraska has proven to be deadly in winning time and I expect to see that again. For all of the problems this team has, they sure know how to win a football game this year. They have the "finish strong" part down, it will be interesting to see if they can add in "start fast" as well
  17. I think just because we've "looked" beatable in all of these games so far doesn't mean we can't come out and get a blow out win, or compete and win against a high level opponent. We have seen other teams all over the country struggle against much less talented opponents early in the season. The opponent is trying to win the game too and sometimes the opponent has a pretty good game plan to turn the game into a dog fight for as long as possible hoping to give themselves a chance at the end. Only in one game did the opponent have a chance to win halfway through the fourth quarter and that was with a talented Oregon squad, even if they are falling apart. I think if Nebraska executes and performs to its optimum level and is improving each week this team could make a playoff run similar to Michigan State a year ago as in they needed a little luck to beat the big boys but had the talent to keep it close enough long enough to give themselves a shot. I think this team is capable of doing that. That being said it's more realistic that we drop 2 regular season games
  18. ^good stats, Nebraska has had a decievingly solid defense this year. Eye test isn't so great but the stats show otherwise. I'm not disputing that we have problems on defense because we do; it is just a strange wrinkle in an already strange season across college football.
  19. First of all, I solidly support running the ball. We are wearing down opposition defenses and that is a good recipe for success. However, I am not so certain that that the above observation is due to cause and effect. Taking the 4 quarters with the most pass attempts: These are the halves with the highest passing attempts It includes the first half against Oregon with a redzone turnover that led to a TD for Oregon but should have been either 3 or 7 points. Of course the turn over did come from the passing game in this case. The Wyoming first have is the same scenario, a redzone turnover from the passing game, but the second half had only 1 fewer attempt and netted 35 points in one of the "pass happy" quarters. The Northwestern first half scoring was held down by two turnovers at the goal line that occurred in the running game. It is pretty certain that in both cases a TD would have been scored, so it would have been a 24 point half. I submit that the numbers show that turning the ball over leads to less scoring. Of the six halves in which the Huskers scored less than 21 points, 4 are halves in which turnovers occurred. A turnover occurred in only 1 of the 4 quarters where 21 or more points were scored. ^^^ this. We have pretty good success on the ground and through the air but when we give possessions away is when we struggle. Otherwise the offense moves the ball very effectively thus far
  20. hope not I'd rather see a game for the ages with Michigan pulling out a tight one to set the stage for an incredible rivalry for the next decade
  21. I agree with Maveric 100% on this. One of those big runs early in the game was made possible only because of MRIs alignment and assignment on the play. Looked like he was doing his job but because of that the tight end easily j blocked him out of the play and opened up a huge hole. Just one instance I remember where something like this happened
  22. Not worried about the QB situation next year. Tommy Armstrong is a very talented player but if this staff would have got him in as a freshman he would be player running back or linebacker. This staff wants a pro style QB for their offense and we will be alot closer to that next year than we are now. I love Tommy and I love the fact he can scramble and make plays with his legs, but I don't think not having a mobile quarterback is going to cripple this offense
  23. By these stats I'm seeing only one instance we threw more than we ran and that was in the first half vs Oregon. Every other half indicates we rely heavily on the run and set up our pass plays on that foundation. Perfect offensive strategy for this group of players where we have fantastic skill at every position but out QB operates best with a limited number of throws that work with the ground game we've established. I'm not sure how anyone could get the idea OCDL and company aren't running the ball enough this season. In my eyes they are doing a wonderful job of balance and "staging" other plays to hit big later in the game
  24. Looks like they actually get nice numbers on their alternates
