  1. Still miffs me when I see him call us Neb and Northwestern NU....
  2. I am still amazed at how many people feel the BP fire was a bad decision. I feel we are a tremendously better program now than during his tenure. If the guy was worth anything, some team, somewhere, in the power 5 would have hired him by now. I want on the field success as much as the next guy but it was plain to see the downward spiral things were taking under Bo. The cupboard was truly left bare when he left. Great recruits didn't want to play here- plain and simple because of Bo. I believe Riley can pull off championships but it isn't going to be this year. Give the guy a little time with his system and recruiting. I believe we will get a glimpse of the future this year but in no way should any of us expect a championship this year. It took Dabo 8 years in a place much easier to recruit to than Nebraska...
  3. Excellent response- exactly my thoughts as well.
  4. Written by a recruiting analyst...SMH. What a terrible list with very little thought put into it.
  5. I agree completely. Trying to block for Tommy was much more difficult than trying to block for a pocket passer who's movements will be much more predictable.
  6. I ended up taking my son- it was a great time. The lines were long but we had enough time to fill up a couple of white Husker footballs with signatures. Riley took the time to take a picture with my son. Overall it was a very cool experience.
  7. My number one is last years at NW. My number two is 2013. And agree with most- some of these designs were just really bad.
  8. I have never been to one of these. Thinking about taking my 8 year old son this year. Any advice? Best place to park?
  9. Optimistic- Because that is more fun than being negative about the potential performances of a group of kids that are still learning how to be men. College football is fun unless you set certain benchmarks that have to be reached in your mind. I'm sure the negative Penn State fans were losing their mind after a 2-2 start last year... Let the season unfold and enjoy it people. GBR
  10. Maybe I need to add some sugar to my koolaid... I would be very happy with an 8 or 9 win season that showed progress and sparked some real excitement for the coming seasons.
  11. Top 3 all seem pretty equal in difficulty imo. I would personally rank us ahead of Iowa due to the Oregon game.
  12. "And, hopefully the television coverage will be fair and balanced as well." "But we have been given a rough iniation and a guantlet of disadvantageous scheduling as part of our 'entry fee' and dues to join." I think coverage has been awesome for the games? I haven't had a pay per view since they joined the B1G and every game has been televised. As far as scheduling, I feel we have had home and home series fairly and honestly a couple years of pretty easy schedule the last two. I can't, in any way, see how we haven't been treated fairly. Championships and money are there for the taking- we just have to perform in games.
  13. You guys making pro-rivalry comments make great points... but it's still Iowa. I'm curious how many people born before 1990 would be willing to consider them as one. I think anyone old enough to remember the glory days will forever consider Nebraska as superior and thus can't stoop to having lowly Iowa as a rival. Sounds childish but it's truth- I fit the mold.
  14. By the true definition of the word we are rivals... but the rivalries that most of Nebraska fans embrace are the ones that took years of meaningful games to build. Maybe 20 years from now we will think differently but for most old school fans Iowa just isn't there yet.
  15. Never smoked in my life...but find it ridiculous it is illegal. I can't wrap my head around a reason for it to be illegal other than it is too challenging for the government to tax. I have seen alcohol do way more damage to people in my life than pot- especially kids. On the other hand, I am bothered when one of our players gets busted because they are breaking a rule and hurting public perception of our team.
  16. I think the biggest reason this rivalry has trouble gaining steam is the timing of the game. The game just hasn't had much meaning on many occasions because the division has been decided before this point by Wisconsin. If the west title was on the line, a lot more emotion would be involved.
  17. I think this game will be a catalyst for which ever team wins. It would be a huge confidence boost for our kids if we can go into Oregon and steal a win. It would also eliminate any of the "buy in" questions we hear about anytime there are major changes. If we lose respectably- maybe no ill effects. Lose bad and it could have a real negative effect on this season. Same things can be said from the Oregon side of the table. Interesting timing for this match up.
  18. SMH... I remember the Steelers beating the Rams in the super bowl. This thread makes me feel old.
  19. The koolaid does taste great in May. If we can go 2-2 vs Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Wisconsin I would be pretty happy. Those are 4 very challenging games imo.
  20. Good PR move but yet still classy. Unlike the majority of JH pr attempts.
  21. It's May...my glass is way over half full. Over, Over, Over, Under.
  22. "nine-win plateau"... Man that is getting old. In reality the article seems pretty accurate, albeit vanilla, around the west.
  23. I'm optimistic but also trying to be realistic. I think a 9 win season this year with the increased difficulty on our schedule would be great. I just really want to see some good progress on both sides of the ball.
  24. There are one heck of a lot of very good QBs that aren't well liked by their team. That includes some of our most prized alumni. Yep The difference is TA wasn't "very good".
  25. I agree with the above opinions- winning solves a lot of personality conflict issues. But if your not winning those issues become much bigger imo.
