  1. They are facing so many plays because they suck from the starting whistle. If the defense could get stops, and we were not playing catch up, the offense would have the opportunity to bleed the clock a bit more.
  2. He is a good coach but I can't stand Bert... no thank you
  3. I agree with others above- I don't see how CT can hold up to what is about to happen to him during the next 6 games. I feel bad for him honestly.
  4. We can beat them all. I don't think we do but we can hope. In reality I don't think we get to 6 wins. I think we win one of Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota and one of Wisconsin or Iowa.
  5. That is what I'm hearing as well. Not much NIL for him coming from NMS so when Alante beat him for the position he bailed to try to make some cash and to find a place he can start.
  6. Those are obvious to everyone and I agree, he is underqualified. However they are true facts and my last statement holds true- If he maintains a 2/3 winning percentage, it will be hard to justify not going with him imo. It would also place some weird pressure on the new coach if he didn't perform very well. First 2 games of 2023 are on the road vs P5 opponents... not going to be a very easy start to a tenure, especially if he is replacing the homegrown guy that got the job done under very difficult circumstances.
  7. 14 years college coaching experience 1 national championship .667 winning percentage in P5 Excellent recruiter Players appear to love him Likeable, no nonsense guy who tells it how it is.... we could do worse. If the winning percentage holds, pretty hard to not stay with him.
  8. Purdue 31 Nebraska 27 Rushing 165 Passing 213 Hope I'm wrong and we win this one. Our offense just doesn't give me any confidence.
  9. Win felt great even though it was an ugly game. From an offensive standpoint, I miss Frost. From a game management standpoint, I'm glad he is gone... I wonder how the year would have went if he had fired chins after game 1 or 2? MJ has a lot to learn but he is showing he knows how to win.
  10. Is it good ju ju when we (you) mess it up?
  11. Come on guys. Here it is again for those who have lost the words.... Dear Lord, the battles we go through life, We ask for a chance that's fair A chance to equal our stride, A chance to do or dare If we should win, let it be by the code, Faith and Honor held high If we should lose, we'll stand by the road, And cheer as the winners go by Day by Day, we get better and better! Til' we can't be beat... WON'T BE BEAT!
  12. It isn't crazy at all. Wins are the measuring stick by which all coaches are evaluated. Last year is a great example imo. Nebraska was actually a pretty dang good team last year. It didn't matter in the end that we had a bunch of close losses and looked like the better team against eventual top 10 opponents because at the end of the day, we lost those games. If MJ can figure out how to win 4 of the next 7 to get us to a bowl game, he deserves a shot to build on that in 2023.
  13. Indiana was sure able to on a few drives. Once we went man coverage in the red zone, we allowed a couple pretty dang easy touchdowns. We adjusted and that helped a lot but what you are saying has some merit. However, against teams like Rutgers, we should be ok. Against Purdue, we are going to have to be much better at disguising coverages to be effective.
  14. They have played pretty good defense this year prior to ohio State who tends to make everyone look bad. They honestly didn't perform that bad against them if you look at total yards. Their rush defense has been stout but they have been vulnerable to the pass. That had way more to do with Iowa's defense. They only gained 277 yards total against them.
  15. Light winds, no precipitation and cool temps - perfect night for football. Rutgers is averaging 14.5 points vs anyone not named Wagner (some pretty good defenses in there). Nebraska 27 Rutgers 17 Rushing 128 Passing 252
  16. I like how blunt he is but I'm guessing comments like these are going on opponents poster boards. Probably not doing the team any favors.
  17. With his hand being held he did pretty good. Now that Barry is gone, we are seeing his true capabilities. No thank you.
  18. To me he is a much better candidate than Aranda, Campbell, and several others being talked about. He has successfully turned around 2 programs from the pits to competing for championships.
  19. I think we could hire him cheap but I also think there is a reason no programs picked him up for the 2022 season. I'm not a fan at all. Part of that likely comes from my extreme dislike for BYU. I grew up in Wyoming and played for University of Wyoming. He did do well at BYU but his last 4 years were pretty mediocre by their standards. At Virginia, he has basically been a 500 coach. Nothing to wow at all imo. I sure hope we can do better than him...
  20. I get where you are coming from but I also get where BRB is coming from. I think a better way to ask the question is would your favorite to be the next coach been your favorite 13 months ago? So many people look at what is happening right now instead of looking at the body of work from a coach. Aranda might be awesome. I wouldn't be mad if we hired him but I don't feel any level of comfort because he has such little experience as a head coach. I don't have one coach I would be crazy about but I would like us to hire someone who has shown he can recruit, then develop those recruits, and ultimately win at a high level with the players he recruited. Hiring anyone without those 3 things becomes a gamble we shouldn't take imo.
  21. Agree as long as the new coach isn't coaching in the playoff. Not sure how it would be handled at that point or if that would change the potential new coaches decision.
