That's not a question. Not sure what response you are looking for. Yes, he has struggled to grasp some of the offensive concepts we were running. The HOPE is that he will do better in a different, possibly simplified, system. Who knows what the reality will end up being. From my perspective, smothers is very capable in many systems and will likely be qb1 against NW 9 months from now. IF we get a solid transfer, obviously that could change.

I keep logging in to see if we got a new player and it's the same tired speculations repeated over and over. For what it's worth from the janitor, HH was never in true contention for the #2 spot this year but is progressing well. He has a ton of potential but was nowhere near ready to run the offense back in September. Smoothers is a very physically talented guy who struggled to learn all intricacies of the offense... yes even after almost 2 years in the system. His "arm talent" is sufficient if he can remember everything coming at full speed. He did make quite a bit of progress the 2nd half of the season. Maybe a new QB coach with a different mental approach will help- that is the hope.

There are very few. If you aren't at an Alabama with Nick in your ear, you are looking for an opportunity to play. Even then, they have kids transfer yearly to go get playing time somewhere alse.

There is some truth to what you say but it is not reality.... at all. Name a top program that has stud QBs wait until they are juniors to start. Pre-portal it was common. Now it is extremely rare. These kids are chasing NIL money and glory at 18 and 19. Asking good players to wait until they are juniors to start is a thing of the past.

No concerns for next year but guessing some bowl games get impacted. As fast as this variant moves, this "wave" will be done in 4 weeks. 19 of 22 in my work building have caught it this week. It feels a lot like allergies so far for all of us.

The jump from high school is not bigger now. It has always been rare for a true freshman start. The only difference now is that the talented back ups have an opportunity to move to the front of the line at other schools. We lost Adrian. That leaves 5 QBs on the roster, 2 of which are on scholarship. I would assume you are considering only Logan, Heinrich, and Matt as the 3 QBs? I don't see Matt going anywhere anytime soon. Spencer and Jarrett likely wouldn't get any interest in the portal at all. Logan and Heinrich have legit shots to win the starting position next year and both still have 4 years eligibility. Even if a transfer is brought in for competition, neither would really have a reason to transfer at this point unless they just have no desire to compete. If that is the case, where could they go and not find competition? Everyone stays in that room for the foreseeable future.

No way I would want the information public, regardless of the content. The media just wants their click bait because they know, no matter what, plenty will disagree.

I don't think it's a stretch to say he has the physical abilities. If Adrian had played behind a great O-Line, maybe his story would be a lot different. I do think he still has a shot to play on Sundays if he can put together a great 2022 on another team.

I don't see anyone scoring 50 points per game in the Big 10.

I like 8 teams as well but I disagree that 4 will always get the best 2 teams in. I think there are legitimate arguments fairly often with 4 teams. 2014- The first year Ohio State, the eventual winner, almost didn't get in the playoff. They were ranked 5th but ended up jumping the 4th place team to get in. Baylor and TCU were very good that year. I would argue better than Oregon and Florida State who did make the playoff. 2015, 2016, and 2017 were easy years to select the top 4. 2018 left out 12-1 Ohio State. 2019 & 2020 were east years. 2021 left out 11-1 Notre Dame I think 6 accomplishes the goal of making sure you for sure include the top 2 teams. That said, 8 makes for a clean playoff with nobody having a bye advantage.

You want it to be so easy- Our coach failed and we lost because of __________. It doesn't work that way. Our offensive plan was good. It worked. During Iowa's 12 regular season games it held opponents to an average of 17 points. Only 5 teams scored over 20 and Nebraska was one of them. Pretty damn impressive with a QB under center who had never started a collegiate game. Iowa adjusted and Nebraska wasn't able to adjust with the same level of success, mainly because we had a rookie under center. Not because we abandoned what would have so obviously worked...smh. We lost the game for many reasons but I don't put offensive play calling evenly remotely towards the top. We scored enough to win if the other parts of the team had performed ok.

Sounds like an entertaining offense but our defense conditioning better be great because they will see more snap as well.

You do realize Iowa adjusted defense significantly basically forcing us to pass? Of course Scott would have continued to stay run heavy had Iowa stayed with the same defense from the first half.
