  1. Home-Run hire is a beauty in the eye of the beholder thing. All that matters is Trev thinks the person is a home-run hire. The debate on who is get-able is pretty pointless.
  2. This seem odd to anyone else?... IDK what OSU teaches us minus us winning or us losing in historic fashion. He's indicating a decision will be made after OSU? Is it a bowl thing, like Frost needed to be 6-6? Seems to me losing this but beating Wisconsin and Iowa would definitely give Frost another year. Also should get a statement meaning there may have already been a decision to retain him? Not sure if this guy is blowing smoke or knows stuff
  3. At any program that strives for division and conf titles 3 straight losing seasons is met with them no longer being employed. The fact Frost has been given a 4th season is a testament to a runway not provided at other blue blood programs. So yes the 7 year contract could have been a sign that he would be given more time than most, but year 4 IS that extra time given.
  4. Nature of the business now days. Jimbo got a 10 year, Schiano got a 8 year, Drinkwitz got 6 years, Klieman got extended out 6 years, Brohm extended out 7 years, Saban extended out 8 years, Gundy signed an extensions where he will never be under 5 years. You do it to show support and allow coaches to sell the program appropriately. Sense of urgency doesn't need to be disclosed in this line of work.
  5. Illinois has the head to head and beat a top 25 team. I'll give them the nod.
  6. Here's the thing. We all like to say, I'm not watching if Frost is retain, or I'm not watching if Frost is fired. You know who will have tangible data on this? Trev will. Trev isn't firing Frost if it means less donations, less butts in the seats, less interest in the program. If Frost is canned after this year - it'll be because Trev knows retaining him will be detrimental to the program.
  7. If a P5 AD hired Frost after 4 straight losing seasons at Nebraska. That AD and Frost would be fired the very next day. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say never in the history of football has a P5 school hired a coach coming off 4 straight losing seasons.
  8. The NCAA also gave Penn St players a free transfer with eligibility to play right away. So they lost a QB with starts, their best RB, their best WR, their starting TE, a starting LB, and an all B1G Kicker - among other depth players, and three 4-star recruits.
  9. He was fired from the NFL and not rehired therefore he's a scrub. JK, I would love Lane.
  10. Yeah, years later. But if it were one year post being fired, you'd be on a messageboard calling HOF coaches "Fired NFL Coaches, no one wants". Thanks for proving my point.
  11. National Coach of the Year, B1G coach of the Year = Okay Guys that have been fired in the NFL and didn't get an NFL Head Coach the Next Year: Belichick, Saban, Carrol, Gruden, Harbaugh, Herm Edwards, Brian Billick, Rex Ryan, Spurrier, Chip Kelly, ect, ect, ect - Welcome to the NFL. Elite coaches are fired every year.
  12. I don't even care that you think BOB isn't a great fit, that's fine. But to act like BOB is a bad coach when won B1G coach of the Year, and 3 different major National Coach of the Year Awards at Penn St, then went on to be voted 2nd place two separate times for NFL Coach of the Year - that's just ignorant.
  13. You get lotto numbers on that crystal ball? Does Trev know you can correctly predict the number of wins a random coach will have at Nebraska - seems like your skill set is being wasted on message board predictions.
  14. This seems a bit silly. You're gonna quit cheering for the Huskers if we hire a decent coach because he wore out his welcome in the NFL? Honestly if we fire Frost I will give the new guy a chance no matter what. There are no sure things in CFB. I'm sure a new hire would have some flaws.
  15. Yeah they would have said he was getting another year if they were gonna just give him one no matter what. I think the admin knows 3-9 with a blowout to say OSU, you are gonna lose a sellout streak, and be in a rough spot for fundraising the new facility/stadium upgrades. Frost needs W's.
  16. We're in such a weird place where like 100% of the outside world has thought Frost has been a dead man walking for a year. But internally still has an insane amount of support for someone that has accomplished very little (nothing of substance?) in 3+years.
  17. Yes and the D candidate rebuttal was a horrible soundbite about parents shouldn't have a say in what their kids learn. He completely botched the messaging and managed to piss off suburban moms enough for them to swing the other way.
  18. I was watching this last night as well, the theme from VA folks on social media seemed to be the D candidate tried to connect the R candidate to Trump the entire time. While the R candidate ran more on local issues. If the Dems run on COVID and Trump, it's gonna be a long couple years....it's 2021, turn the page.
  19. I think we have a fairly tough schedule, but Wisconsin and Minnesota being ranked by the playoff committee is a product of the Iowa AD leading the committee. Minnesota beat one decent team and that's Purdue, they also lost to Bowling Green and almost lost to Miami Ohio. Purdue has beat Iowa and no one else. Wisconsin beat Purdue and Iowa and no one else. B1G West has been hammered by Notre Dame, what is the best OOC win for our division? Iowa St? We have a tough crossover slate for sure, but this is a normal year for the B1G West and the type of teams Frost needs to beat if he wants to keep his job.
  20. I don't think Frost should try to out grit Ferentz, Chryst, Fleck - just as those guys wouldn't try and out explosive Ryan Day. I also think Frost has tried to be the coach he is, the coach he was at UCF, and Oregon - and it just doesn't translate with the type of talent Nebraska gets and the styles we play against week in and week out. Not exactly something that can be fixed with time, because that would mean Frost trying to change who he is as a coach.
  21. This is exactly what B1G teams have been doing to us for 4 years. I think the book on Frost is: Don't make mistakes, keep the game close, and Frost's team will fold like a lawn chair. I guess I am looking for a reason to think Frost's teams won't continue to do this?
  22. I think Frost built a decent roster. I think we have the talent to beat every team in our division. I think Brohm, Chryst, Ferentz and Fleck have figured out how to beat Frost with less talent in close games. I don’t think our talent will get better, so I guess the question we ask ourselves is, will Frost figure out how to beat those coaches in close games or will they continue to have his number? I personally think 4 years of consistently falling short against those coaches will lead to a 5th featuring similar results. If you think in year 5 Frost changes into a coach he’s hasn’t able to be the previous 4 years then I could see why you would want him back.
