  1. All bets are off when you have free rushers coming at you.
  2. I am simply saying QB isn't the only issue. I am not in the camp that thinks a QB instantly gets us from 5 wins to 10. Ward seems to like to go off script and make hero plays whoch is great sometimes, but he turns it over some also. He seems like a great fit for OSU as they need that to put them over the top, as they have everything else already. Howard seems like a solid fit for us, and I am not seeing the fit at USC for him. McCord could fit, but he will need others to take the next step, we need another WR, and his numbers still probably won't match his last year at Ohio State. I am not sure we sign any of the top ranked guys though if they are 1 and done, we aren't set up to be an NFL springboard at QB yet, it all depeneds on what an individual wants. If NIL, fan support, and just helping a program take the next step is enough we could. If plyaing in the playoff/being a top 15 team and going to the NFL via a ready made situation are goals then we can't win that. Honestly I'd be happy with Howard or McCord, but I am not expecting either to be a savior. We need consistent development to be competitive, and people saying we can get to 9-10 wins with a QB are downplaying just how easy the schedule was this year. Things also never stay exactly the same year over year, so saying we just have to add one piece and keep the rest the same isn't going to happen. Some things improve, some get worse every year.
  3. I think they truly believed Sims could bridge the gap, run when you have to but be able to make every throw they wanted. He is definitely capable of making every throw a QB needs to, but that isn't enough to play QB. That's why guys who can't make all the throws still can be good QBs, at least in college. It just didn't work out with Sims. I'm not convinced McCord is the answer, but he is much closer to what they want than what's on the roster. He will just need help, and the supporting cast is a step down from Ohio State. Hopefully everyone else can level up and maybe a Julian Fleming comes with him to be the default #1 WR as that's what he wants it appears. We have good supporting WR, could work out ok.
  4. I don't know if they ever truly wanted a QB run game. Simply playing the cards that were dealt with the offensive personnel on the team.
  5. I can agree if he really has to cut that much weight. To be honest, I've never believed the weights (or heights) they list are all that accurate. Stemming from my college days and interacting with guys in classes that were clearly not what was listed. My initial reaction was it would be good from the balance and leverage side as you mentioned also.
  6. I don't think DL will care how much he suggests or hints things to them, they'll still sack him.
  7. From what I have heard, NIL is nothing fully guaranteed. This doesn't seem like a question, if you can be a 1st round pick, you absolutely go.
  8. One of the worst artists in the history of music
  9. I was shocked to see Nebraska a road favorite in a conference game. Still too soon for that I see.
  10. It's not hard to say that, it is just wrong. You just answered your own question.
  11. Fair, but it was far from a complete year. Call 2021 year 1.5 and 2022 2.5, but we agree that he showed progress every year. I was just pushing back against the perception that it took him until year 3 to show his chops, and that isn't true.
  12. Adrian had a better arm, Taylor was a better runner. Put AM on that same team and the results would be largely the same if I had to wager. These questions always make me chuckle because a lot of it can be outside the control of the QB to what legacy they leave. Adrian had PTSD after 2018 from playing behind these lines, Taylor had great lines, on and on.
  13. So legitimately 2021 was year 1 for him. Covid was a lost year, and his year 2 was 10-3 and year 3 was 13-0. Still a case of good coaches are on the up by year 2, and sure as hell don't take until year 4 or 5 to show progress!
  14. For the ones who actually qualify yes, but it has been APR to fill extra slots for as long as I can remember. Nebraska got in this way in 2015.
  15. Let's be real, cheer the fans for that one, not any administrator. Kudos to the AD for actually doing it but no other place on Earth has fans that show up 92k strong for a women's sport period, let alone a regular season match.
  16. Seriously. I am a Bronco fan, and had to deal with Gordon fumbling every 5th snap for us a couple years ago, but now get to root for Samaje. Continued to deal with those feelings recently.
  17. The stuff between the ears doesn't necessarily become super easy, but I would argue the physical part is quite different. It should be much easier to elude a rush against South Dakota State. There's a reason those kids aren't starting for Ohio State. He can win being more physically gifted at a lower level is what I am getting at, making the mental part less important.
  18. Hey now. Didn't he throw a touchdown to beat Nebraska? I was in the stands for that glorious completion, his only of the game. In all seriousness, you only know that a handful are really good college QBs based on production they've already had, and those guys will be fought over heavily. Some might have been products of their old systems however, or of their old coaching staffs. Less experienced transfers might flourish in a new setting, and with new coaching. We basically can't predict what will happen.
  19. It happens much slower though, that's the idea. No guarantee of success, but you have to admit it's easier in FCS or D2.
  20. I think he knows HH is not a QB, and he tells him that. I think Purdy stays and gets a legit shot, with competition from a portal QB and a freshman. Purdy still has potential and has the tools to succeed.
