  1. I have Lot #20 parking passes available for the Following games: vs Wisconsin--$45 vs Iowa--$40 Yes, it is a bit above face ($25). Great place to tailgate and have a good time prior to the game.
  2. Disagree. A persons character is their character, it is not something you turn on or off. Then again, Frost took a preferred walk on from Lincoln who put a cop in the hospital at age 17. Juvenile courts swept it away, but it happened. From that, it was all coach speak coming from old Frosty.
  3. From the National Weather Service forecast discussion staring on Friday and into Saturday. BTW, each part of the country has their own NWS office, so the hurricane potentially impacting FL has no bearing on the forecast office in Omaha/Valley and their jobs. For tonight (Friday), much of the evening should be dry, although rain chances do increase by late evening and overnight as another weak wave moves out of the Rockies. It`s only a 20-40% chance, and then just mostly showers with lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s. That weak wave continues to move through the mid Missouri River valley Saturday, which again, could bring a chance of showers to the area, but instability is very limited, so thunder potential seems small. And if it does rain, amounts would be light with just a tenth or two of an inch. And still a very comfortable day with highs in the lower to mid 70s.
  4. Buzzard Billy's has a good kids menu and is available on game days (in the past). There is an Arbys, Amigos, Wendy's, Raising Canes all off 14th and P. Brewsky's might be an option if you get chicken strips. On O street there is a Pepper Jax grill too. As others have said, lots of stuff in the Haymarket area but you will be dealing with a lot of people. First night game, the downtown area will be packed.
  5. Since I am a meteorologist, I often look at the "forecast discussion" on the National Weather Service page out of Omaha. Here is what they had this morning for Saturday: .LONG TERM...(Saturday through Tuesday) Issued at 230 AM CDT Wed Aug 28 2019 Rain and isolated thunderstorm should linger through the day on Saturday. This will make for a rather dreary and cool day, with plenty of clouds, and high temps in the lower 70s. The kind of day where you just want to chill on the couch. Rain chances decrease Saturday night as the upper level trough axis shifts east and subsidence takes over. Confidence in the forecast for Saturday is moderate.
  6. Looks like we better hope the rain and thunder storms move out quickly Saturday morning or ya may need a poncho
  7. I updated my posting with a photo of the area with restrooms circled. Can't leave a car there overnight. I think they officially open up the lots at 8am, but we regularly get there earlier to set up. There is no gate to Lot #19, so you can drive right in where in Lot #20, they have a gate they open up to let folks in. BTW, the best spots in Lot 19 are a bit further to the south, but it usually does not fill up too quickly compared to 20 and 21
  8. yes, you are right about getting passes to these lots off any of the secondary market places. Sometimes, the prices are not bad either. I paid $25/game this year in lot #20, which is not bad. The restrooms do make the women happy as they get to avoid the porta johns. A lot of good times there. To note, if you are in lot #19, the closest stadium restrooms would be in the right-center field area, accessible from the outside of the baseball stadium. There is a small set of restrooms there right before you get on the walking bridge to go to the stadium. I have the restrooms circled in red on this photo.
  9. I have no problem with him being named the starter, the kid is a great athlete and I am sure the coaches see that. As Frost said, he could play him about anywhere and he would be great. Calling him a "game changer" is what I think is a stretch. I'll gladly eat crow if the kid can stay on the field. His past history has shown that is not the case as he has not finished an athletic season (in any sport) going back to early in HS. I hope that trend changes, but to be a game changer, you have to be on the field and healthy.
  10. We had an opening kick-off about 12 years or so ago (vs OK State maybe) where it was raining at game time and rained most of the game. Im guessing the temperatures were just as cool that game too. I'd wait until Thursday before getting too worried.
  11. No, you have to buy the entire season, in advance, from the UNL ticket office. They control the lot. Sometimes, they do sell spots for lot #21, the north side of Haymarket, last year they were $30 or $35. But, the new indoor ice rink does sell spots and sometimes you can get into lot #20 too, depends on the game.
  12. I have been in Lot #20 for about 12 years now. It is a great place to set up and we have met a lot of great people who we now set up by every season. You get to use the restrooms inside Haymarket Park, which is really nice too. About a 10-15 minute walk to the stadium. We get spots along the edge, where there is grass so we have plenty of room. Not every spot is on grass or is great, but it depends on what you want to do. It is a great scene and not as packed as under the overpass or the Journal Star lot or the post office lot. You are not right on top of other people there.
  13. Will be in Lot #20 at Haymarket Park in the early AM, going to the game. Not much tailgating this weekend with the early kick-off
  14. Calling a guy a "game changer" and everyone salivating at the idea of the next Dominic Raiola or Dave Remmington being under center is quite far fetched at this point. Hell, every guy out there has the "potential" to be something special, that is why we have them on the team right? Let's pick up this discussion in November and see what has materialized at that point. At that point, I'll buy the first round of Kool Aid too.
  15. Point is, the guy needs to stay healthy. Going back to his entire HS career and now into college, he has not stayed healthy. How is that going to magically change now? It is not like his injuries were muscular, every time it was broken bones in his feet/legs/ankles. Im not jumping on the hype train yet until the guy has 6-8 consecutive games under his belt and actually finishes a season. He had a boot on his foot just a few weeks back. I wish him well, but my I don't have my hopes up.
  16. How could this be? Frost doesn't want a team of pot heads? I'll wait for all the burn outs to wake up in their mom's basements and post how stupid Frost is, how stupid the NCAA is, etc etc etc. Message board guys must be smarter than the head coach.....as always.
  17. No, I hear you. My father has a debilitating disease and there are medical uses that help folks like him. I also have a brother who went the other path, using pot as a gateway to other drugs, messing up his entire life. Like any substance, it is a slippery slope of benefits vs harm.
  18. Spoken like a true "burn out" :-) Again, regardless of mine or your thoughts on the subject, the NCAA still has the cards in their hand. You keep failing drug tests and you don't play, hell the NFL is still that way.
  19. Regardless of peoples opinion of the "wacky weed" until the NCAA stops testing for it and until it is legal, it is a problem to have a team of dope heads. What happened to pride? What happened to the TEAM? What happened to treating your one body with respect? For any athlete trying to perform at the highest levels, any drug or alcohol is not good for them.
  20. I am still a fan and have been a season ticket holder since 1992 so I have some loyalty (skin) in the game. There is fun and there is FUN ! Just like if I tell my kids we are going on vacation and say it is the Black Hills, yes that is fun and they know they will have fun. I also can tell my kids that we are going to Disney World and they know that is FUN FUN FUN, but still bot are just vacations, right? It has been a LONG time since the hard to describe "buzz" was around the stadium and around town. We approached it at time with Bo, but he pretty much always fell flat. The buzz in town prior the the USC game with Clownahan came close, but then again, we were never really going to play with those guys. Sure, you can have a lot of fun at Husker games, and I still do. We have been tailgating with the same crew for over 10 years now and that is just as much fun as the games in recent years. I want it to get back to the FUN with the capital F U N ! Very hard to describe that "it" factor associated with the FUN, but it is very different than what we have had for a long time.
  21. Not only around, but in college and grad school during the 90's. Hell, even when my dad would take me to games in the 80's at least we were playing for something. So, no I am not "old" by any means but I also know that most of the 20 something crowd has no clue what it is like to watch the Huskers in a meaningful game. Fun is fun, but the real fun was being recognized on my honeymoon in 1996 due to my Nebraska hat on and having the cabana boy want to talk football with me every time he saw me. Fun, playing games knowing that we were one of the best in the country AND....backing it up on the field. Fun.....being discussed year in and year out as the team to beat. Fun.....having the stadium totally rocking as two of the top teams in college football were in the middle of a slobber knocker.....Wisconsin comeback....yay, we won but still suck. etc etc etc. My hope is, Frost and Co can bring it back to life around here so other generations of fans know what the hell fun and excitement really are.
  22. There were many guys in-state which we let slip away or they did not want to join the train wreck established in Lincoln at the given time. Many went on to play D-1 level ball and were fairly successful and several on the Iowa roster shoved it down Nebraska's throat throughout college. Jurgens is an athlete, but I think the trend of injury is not going away anytime soon. Was he dumb to offer, no as the upside is way better than having another instate kid go to a B1G school and kick our butts. If he does not work out, well he is 1 of 85 scholarships and heaven knows we wasted a lot more than just 1 scholarship over the last 10 years (most every guy Riley offered).
  23. I’d say bad genetics or something fishy in his bone development, like it is not hardening like it should.
  24. Just ask Ron Paulus how certain one, no 2 Heismans are
