  1. I know what you are saying BigRedIowan ... however, I've seen quite a few bad Mizzou teams play the Huskers well over the past 30 years ... especially when we have had much more in talent. Mizzou always seemed to play us hard on their field and wanted to prove so much. With Iowa's season ... I see the same thing ... this is their game that redeems the whole year. On top of ... they will have a Husker team that rest assured ... will find a way to put the ball on the carpet, will find a way to give up an int ... will find a way to do all the things that raise the blood pressure of so many. Frankly, I'm not debating the point ... it's just my perception after watching another season, one of five, upon which when you think the Huskers of old might show up ... the Huskers of new show up. If I had seen a bit of discipline any part of this season ... if I had seen the mistakes that I'm told will be corrected be done ... I'd state it differently ... but to me it's just too perfect to see even the Iowa game be a barn burner full of all kinds of excitement. Who the hell knows what we will see come that day ... only heaven knows. It will be fun to watch ... and frustrating ... I believe. By the way, I'll be rooting for a blowout!
  2. I take Minnesota in this one. I'm gonna assume the same Husker team shows up as in the past. We will do some amazing things ... and have same kind of undisciplined/mistake ridden type game that makes this a 10 point game with no clear winner until the end. I do think we win this one however. The Iowa game is the tripper ... this game will be like playing Mizzou in the past 20 years. We will find a way to make it a game.
  3. I second the original post. Props for this accomplishment.
  4. I can pretty much guarantee which Husker would show up. It doesn't matter what field we play.
  5. I think your taking that the wrong way. He means it as a good thing. No, that's how I took it. I think he concludes their is better football somewhere else.
  6. Agreed. :-) Glad for the win. I expect wins in games against opponets like this and we will get blown out against equal or better talent. It ain't pretty but the board is happy.
  7. Congrats Huskers!

  8. Playing pretty good today. Got these guys set up for a fall.

Last week someone replied to one of his status updates -- "I like turtles.", so I replied to that "I love turtles." And "Sheepdawg" deleted it, so I reposted it again, and he deleted, and we did this about 5 times.

  9. Good article ... I think the writer is sensing what I've sensed ... and we miss out on him. We just have not turned the corner enough to get his pledge IMHO. I see a Domer type team snatching him up. If we do all the little extra things that are needed we could hang in their ... but from his own mouth ... all Nebraska is is "football" ... and with him saying that ... I think their are other teams that offer more "football" then us at the present.
  10. Someone said I lost my faith in this team. Don't think I have. Going in to the season I thought we would lose 5 games which includes the bowl game. We have musturd enough miracles from the continual breakdowns and stupid mistakes which is a credit to TM. I am just tired of hearing about all the mistakes that are easily correctable being played out the following Saturday.. It is 5 years later for goodness sakes. I am just frustrated to see greatness ... wasted. The B1G is so weak and rather then dominate and build toward championships and better recruiting we are wallowing with the lowly. Didn't expect much this season and then got excited with TM play, our RB's and WR's ... all to be reduced by the same stupid crap. My post was a satire of what seems like a finish to the season from my frustrated perspective. :-)
  11. I think we will finish pretty strong. Penn State: I'm thinking we put the ball on the carpet 4 times, lose two of them. Just two interceptions, but only one goes for a TD. I think we will have two shank punts and one missed FG. We still win by 6 points. Iowa: I have us losing this one. We fumble 6 times, losing 5 and TM has 3 interceptions. We have a missed extra point and one FG is blocked. We lose by 3 points. Minnesota: Only two fumbles ... we lose both of them. Only two interceptions, neither are TM's fault. Penalties and stupid mistakes stop 8 of our 10 drives but we manage 2 TD's and 4 FG's ... we miss 3 of them. We give up one safety. We pull out a 17-12 win.
  12. What did the Huskers D allow Bell to run? 238 yards or something? Bell had 188? Edit: HuskerNationNick ask in the post below "what did I expect"? I've been expecting that the problems that I am told are solvable will be fixed ... I'm noticing that nothing changes.
  13. Taylor is puzzling to me ... I can't gloat over him or the "new record". Wish I could ... guess in the end a "win isn't a win" for me. I just don't see how the order is restored when we keep consistently doing the same crap every week ... and we sweep the crap under the rug because of another "W". One side calls for Bo's head ... the other is "elated" over an "amazing" comeback. In the end ... I'm more "bewildered" thinki...

Alot of work? Same problem for 5 years now. Never changes. Admire? You put yourself in the crap hole. I would admire one who learns and doesn't get themselves back into the crap hole. Enjoy the win? Sure, it is a win. Finally, thid was not a tough win or opponet. Weakest conference in the country against a team that finds ways to lose. To me, this team is emboldened to keep doing the stupid stuff believing they will find a way to win. Just isn't the direction I want the program to go.

Yeah, winning games and coming back to win sucks.

Ya, you obviously know my 7 years on this board and caught my point.

  14. The same Husker team showed up today ... with all the same mistakes. Guess this is the new brand of Husker football.

  15. Turnover by TM, two stupid CB penalties, breakdown on line ... TD. Just what we need to do ... to lose.
  16. Protect the ball we will be in this game. Pit it on the ground and Michigan will win easily. Still nothing new. I have no clue what will happen.
  17. Good post. Enjoyed the post and sense some of the same things. Still on board here but uncomfortable.
  18. ^^ This. Doesn't anyone remember how painful and disruptive it is to hire a new coach? It's not like we would instantly get better. We would likely lose most of the recruiting class. And we would have a roster full of guys who don't necessarily fit the new schemes (on both sides of the ball). The best we could hope for is two or three throw-away years while the new staff gets things going their way. Even then we might not be any better than now. The best option for NU is to stay the course with Pelini. I would feel the same way if we had failed to convert that last TD and NW won the game. /+1 to Joe.. And, oh yeah, this thread is chock full of win. Stupidity and win! I agree, we are so close and within the next two years I firmly believe we will turn the corner. With the mess that Callahan made and Bo being a first time head coach this wasn't going to be turned around just in four or five years. I've said it several times that Bo's first two recruiting classes were terrible for obvious reasons: 5-7 season and first year coach. It's gotten better Bo now has a solid foundation. You're going to get better players if you prove that you can win at least eight games every season and we're starting to see that. "Close" ... "close" to me is defined by all the small things ... tackling, blocking, executing, holding onto the ball, catching the ball, no turnovers, playing smart, few penalties ... no draft class solves any of these problems. Just look at the mostly 2-star and 3-star Kansas St team to see this. Our problems have nothing to do with talent.
  19. Look...here's a different perspective. It may not be Bo's fault that his players commit turnovers and continuously commit stupid penalties. But it is his responsibility. On a side note, one of the issues on this forum is that there's a small group of posters (not you, akita) that play the "I'm a bigger fan than you" card by calling any critiquing of Bo out as being entirely anti-Pelini. It makes many of these discussions almost impossible, because people make it black and white when it's always not so black and white. Again - these mistakes are not Bo's fault...but they are his responsibility. Agreed undone ... but after each game doesn't Bo enter the presser and tell everyone about all the mistakes and how "they are gonna get fixed?" Seriously, this has been going on for five (5) years. For the life of me ... a little Coach Boone would do well ... "you drop the ball ... you run a mile ... you miss a block ... you run a mile". I don't know what Bo's consequences are ... but I declare ... the consequences certaintly are not that great ... cause it has not been fixed ... 5 years later. I coach tennis ... I don't have my students committing the same mistakes as they move from Freshmen on thru to their Senior year. I'd like to think that my coaching has something to do with that ... and the ownership the student takes upon himself to get better. Thus ... I just don't get these Huskers. Snyder can take two star athletes and have them execute, hold on to ball ... tackle ... why can't we?
