  1. Couldn't find much of anything on this guy ... except for the same article Ohio Pete posted. Here's a link about the team he is from ... http://www.star-telegram.com/highschools/story/1540869.html He is quoted in the article as saying, "I just want our team to have that work ethic and practice hard so we can get past the second round." — CB Ciante Evans Don't know if I'd say this is a "good get" ... but it is a player and he has potential according to the article. Sounds like he has desire and some leadership abilities. Last year their team lost 44-0 in the second round to Denton Guyor ... ouch! Hope to find more info and video's here soon. We will see. 2. Yes ... I say Burkhead runs for 1000+ yards and returns for next season. SheepdogMark
  3. Ya know, it is possible to be a great coach and have a program heading in the right direction ... and still get your butt kicked in a recruiting season. That does happen to good programs at various times. The word is still out on this class ... but at present ... I feel much like the white coach in "Remember the Titans", when he says to Herman, "Herman ... I sure could use your help ... Ed Henry (OSU) is kickin' my ass!"
  4. The guy will be a nice addition to the Oklahoma State offense. Nice find! SheepdogMark
  5. I agree ... same effect ... but one difference for Sir Rex ... there's a lot of character here with Rex ... Husker N will be proud for four years with this guy! SheepdogMark
  6. Would love to see Geathers pursued a bit, even with his commit to UCF. Here's a link to a video of him ... http://www.athletevault.com/Videos/ClaytonGeathersAV.html Ran for 104 yards on 16 carries in a playoff game for Carver Bay against one of the best defenses in the state ... article here ... http://www2.scnow.com/scp/sports/high_scho...emingway/18926/ SheepdogMark
  7. For me, Rex was my favorite land in the class last year. I think he will go down as a "great" husker back. THe opportunity now with Q out just got much bigger. Rex has game and give him time to adjust ... I think Husker Nation will find him to be a great leader. I also believe he's gonna go to the pro's and he'll be a great NFL RB. You can't teach heart, guts and determination ... and again, this boy has game. Let him body catch up to his desire and talent ... and this guy "studs" out in the later part of his sophomore year and we get two awesome years with Sir Rex! He's gonna be a great ambassador of the "N" and stir the hearts of the Husker faithful. Although my heart sunk with the loss of Q ... it rose from the dead hearing that Rex is #2. 8. your basing this on what.... I am no homer. Everyone who knows me on this site can agree to that. But you have nothing to base this on. MU has beaten NU in Columbia since 2003 (by pretty good margins at that) and last year in Nebraska. They have done so with a number of different players, including two different QB's, 4 different TE's, 3 different RB's about 7 different WR's and god knows probabaly 40+ different starters on D (mu has different starters on D about every year. Makes it hard to keep up ) Chase Dainel & Jeremy Maclin played in two of those 4 wins. So why would MU go away when they leave? Cheer on your team, be excited. But really, Nebraska has just as many, if not more questions to answer this spring and fall when it comes to their team. And before you quip back, yes the D was better, but as has been discussed at length, that has a much to do with the O's ability to milk the clock brilliantly last year. The pts allowed, avg yrds per play (both run and pass) were all near the bottom of conference. But the D faced fewer plays than almost every team in the country. (this is not a knock. infact it was brilliant) And with almost no returing fire power, how will NU control the clock if they may not be able to get first downs. Your little rant is equal to me coming on here and saying "we all know MU is better than Nebraska. They won 41-24, 41-24, 41-6 the last 3 in Columbia, not to mention the 52-10 (i dont count cheap TD's with your starters against our 3rd string) last year in YOUR house. You guys will get Rocked!!!! -signed 'MU TROLL' Thank you and have a nice day In the past 20 years when the Huskers have had better teams, Mizzou almost always shows up and plays the Huskers tough. Amazing to see Husker fans make statements like this with the season so far away. Both teams have so many holes to fill and will be totally different teams, let alone the tradition of the game at Mizzou's home field and the "butt-kickin' Mizzou has dealt out in past years. As a former Missouri boy, but a Husker fan, I'll always show respect to the Tigers ... although as a Southwest Missouri State boy, I've never been a fan of Mizzou. SheepdogMark
  9. Any info on Ron Coleman, a Milliard North prospect at RB. He's 6', 245 pounds I guess. Looks like he has medium interest in the Huskers. Any input on this guy? Have not seen any link for this young man yet. SheepdogMark
  10. Yes he does. But he is also not in control signs a letter of intent. He does control who is offered, but then, like all coaches, is relegated to taking what he gets in terms of who accepts. At places like USC, Florida, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma and perhaps, oddly enough, Notre Dame --- these coaches often pick who they will take because more excellent athletes than they can accommodate want in -- so they (the coaches) are doing the selection rather than the recruits (for the most part). But at a mid-tier program (like NU at the moment) well.... the coaches take whoever they can get to come and the filtering is done by the recruits (for the most part). So.... do not think that this, or any class for some time now, is the class that Bo wanted --- as if the people in the class reflect Bo's hand-picked athletes. No, he took what he could get, they were among those he was willing to offer, and in that sense has his imprint. But what i am saying is that most of those signed were likely not the #1 choice Bo had for that position --- likely many were # 2-6 or 7th choice --- but were the ones willing to come. So the quality of the class is more a function of who was willing, not who Bo picked. If Bo could simply say "I'll take him, and him, but not him,... yeah that guy too" the way Pete Carrol can, then the quality of the class would be proportional to the ability of the coach to choose. But at this point, that is not the case. Thus, the fact that Bo knows what he is doing has little bearing on the quality of the class. Oh... and by the way, every coach says they are happy with their recruits, so the fact that Bo has said as much means little. All said, Bo is doing great with what he has, and what he can, at the moment, attract. Still the class attracted was less than I had hoped. Robsker, I thought this was a well constructed argument ... and I can't disagree with it. It fits into what I see ... however, my mind is more of a fan than an "x and o" type of guy. SheepdogMark
  11. I was not disappointed at all in this class. I think it is a good class! If you put it into "perspective" of where the program is ... it's a great class! I'm excited. It's a far better class than "experts" and "bloggers/posters" believe. You either believe you "evaluate talent" and choose the guys you want or ... you get "stars" rated by "so-called experts". We hired a coach who is a great evaluator, a great teacher and motivator. I'll take this road and where these kids are currently at and where they will end up over programs (or even one previous coach) who get/got "great 4-5 * players" rated by them and then not coach them up. In the end, we are on the right road this year boys. Regardless of who we get next year, based off of some "experts" rankings, we will have to develop, teach and movitivate young men to greatness. 12. Kinnie is probably the only reason Freeman did well Hmm, I wonder why Josh is able to come out in his Junior Year and get drafted in the pro's without Kinnie? He must of just slid thru the cracks without the pro's noticing. I wonder why so many people on this board were upset about losing Josh to K-Fart then? "Only reason" ... hmmm ... could be true ... then again ... to me, you still sound bitter for losing him. I certainly wish he would have been a Husker ... Gilbert (who backed out and went to Mizzoo), but that is how the cookie crumbles. SheepdogMark
  13. HuskerJoe, love the Avatar, do you have that image as a big pic ... would be a great background for my laptop. Anyway very cool and creative! SheepdogMark
  14. Bo put the fire out on this one at the press conference today for sure. SheepdogMark
  15. I was curious of others perceptions. For me, love the "team concept" as it relates to players. Love this guys passion and balance ... and his balanced look at his team and what got accomplished in this class. Was interesting to hear him say he thinks the process needs to be changed ... but it's not his place to do it. Love this coach ... represents the N well. SheepdogMark
  16. Seemed like a neat poll for people to vote for. Kinda sad to see the way people voted here from Huskerboard ... you just gotta vote your conscience guys, you can't vote bad programs 2-5 and put the best programs 20-25. Don't you end up winning a poll that YOU dramatically change the composition of. It's not really worth winning when you do that ... IMHO. It kinda reminds me of black people voting for Obama because of the color of his skin, rather than for what he really believes in. Don't those kind of people end up violating the very heart of what Martin Luther King Jr. lived and died for ... that one would be judged by one's character, not the color of their skin. Skin is suppose to be irrelevant. Back to football, I just don't get this. This board should encourage Husker fans to vote ... just like we encourage our Husker fans to cheer at the game ... but we don't promote bad sportsmanship ... right? Maybe I'm too idealistic ... or maybe I just trying to live out what I say I believe even when filling out a simple pool. My top 5 were ... Huskers Alabama OU Penn State Florida State Notre Dame and USC were just outside the top 5. SheepdogMark
  17. Rex is my favorite commit of the class. I'm lookin' forward to his impact on my favorite team. SheepdogMark in Dallas
  18. For me, I was surprized that Wade signed a letter with Tech. He was going to come for a visit ... and a visit would have led to a signing in my mind. Missed out on one there. SheepdogMark
  19. God yes, the site is really struggling today, almost every page hangs ... ... what the heck is going on (lol) ... bunch of fanatics in here or what. Get a life! SheepdogMark PS. I've been using the site since about 7 AM this morning.
  20. If "walk on" programs were to be ranked I'm wondering how well we do? I wonder how the group that walks on in 2009 ranks and also, if you added those walking on to the signed class, how much of a bump an expert would give it. Love to here the thoughts of those with insight on the board. Obviously, there is some "forcasting" to this question ... but just wondered. SheepdogMark
  21. This one was a bummer to hear and see. SheepdogMark
  22. It appears to me that our class is falling apart a bit ... and here at the end of the recruiting cycle the players are not falling our way. Any more surprize losses of players or any late additions comin' our way? Personally, this recruiting class seems to have peaked with not much out there. Is this view pessimism or a realist view. Love the experts and non-alike's opinions. SheepdogMark
  23. More like 2 out of the 5, if we are lucky. More realistically, 1 out of the 5. How bout 0 for 5? SheepdogMark
  24. In terms of "commits", it appears at this point that it has had no ripple effect at all. We lost out of Omigie and a few good DT's. Kansas got two good WR commits in the same day ... looks like their bowl win helped. I'm bumbed by the effect of this great win on this recruiting class. SheepdogMark
  25. Don't know about this guy, but I say we try to bring back Tommie Frazier for sure ... that would be a good move. SheepdogMark
