  1. I think 24 would have loved Frost's system. (wonder how 24 and Tanner Lee are getting along as teammates)
  2. My prediction all along has been: Win at home, lose on the road. Except for the last two games (lose to Sparty at home but beat the Hawks on the road). I always put the visitor score first, followed by the home score. So I read this as loses to Akron, Colorado, Troy, Purdue, Minnesota, and Illinois. Look like you put the Skers first followed by the opponent, having the Skers go 12-0. I'm not sure which one is crazier!
  3. Well, that's embarrassing! 25 is Fort Collin celebrity golfer Tony Davis. This guy is good enough to go ahead post anyway. 26 owns several fullback records; longest TD run, 84 yards against Puffalos, 12 career TDs, and an 881 yard season. 26 averaged 7.5 yards per carry in 1985.
  4. THIS is what buy in looks like. First Duval told them that he could help them improve their bodies, their bodies improved and they bought in. We all know Frost thought spring practice wasn't 100% effort 100% time. They may have slacked a little but bought in, the spring ballers are teaching the incoming guys our system. The incoming are catching the fever too, they're buying in. When I first heard the coaches and players talk about a B10 campionship, I thought that a lofty goal. With the improvements in conditioning and work ethic, with a proven system that went 13-0 last season, maybe it isn't as lofty as I had thought. With a few breaks here and there, it doesn't seem like a bridge too far. GD, this is world class scarlet Kool-aid!
  5. I'm just glad it wasn't 4 and 8...
  6. The "Tornado from Tecumseh" ran for 147 yards, including a 43 yard TD, in Tom Osborne's first game as head coach. 25 ran for 1158 yards that season, becoming TO's first 1000 yard rusher. 27 is Irving Fryar.
  7. And we thought the offense wasn't looking very good because the defense was so good.
  8. 27 had only two 2 catches, both in the first quarter against Minnesota in 1983. The first was a 68 yard TD, the second a 70 yard TD. 28 is Jeff Smith, he had 51 yard TD reception in that game as well. The Skers hung 84 that day living up to their nickname "The Scoring Explosion."
  9. 30 is Mike Rozeir. 28 was his backup. 28 is 9th on the Husker career punt return list with 665. Irving Fryer (stay tuned), who played his 3 years with 28, is 8th. Crazy!
  10. Heisman Trophy 1983. 32 are Isaiah Moses Hipp and Ken Clark.
  11. Can you imagine the comments had we not made a coaching change?
  12. I can't in good conscience not mention this 32. 256 yards against OK State in 88, 8th all time rushing leader.
  13. 254 yards against Indiana in 1977, 10th all time rusher. 34 is Trev Alberts.
  14. Practice is at 6 am, right? I don't want to be late...
  15. Is shopping with Winona Ryder at Saks Fifth Avenue a good or bad alibi?
  16. There's precedent, the '83 squad hung 84 on the Goobers. I think we had 600 yards rushing, and Fryer had 140 yards on 2 catches. 2 catches!
  17. As long as they're not working out at The Spigot or Duffy's.
  18. This Blackshirt is the Husker career sack leader, he had 4 against Texas Tech in 1993. 35 is Rick Berns.
  19. 35 went 82 yards for a TD on the opening play of the 1978 Missouri game. He would finish the day with 255 yards, setting Nebraska's single game rushing record.
  20. Michigan was 1st in total D, in scoring D, and in passing D, 7th in rushing D. Skers were 1st in total O, scoring O, and rushing O. It pretty much would have been the best offense against the best defense. We would have have made them cry.
  21. Sure, Green, Makovica, and Frost were Top 20 rushers, but Michigan's 1997 D gave up more than 16 points to one team all season. The 97 Shirts would have held Griese and Co* to 17, and much likely less. The Skers would have gotten lose for at least 4 scores, maybe 5 or 6. I don't see 50 but 35 sounds reasonable. * "Griese and Co" is a joke, Michigan's 3 best O players were QB Griese, guard Steve Hutchinson (almost as good as Aaron Taylor), and DB Charles Woodson. 3 fieldgoals is probably more like it.
  22. How cool would it be to be coached by the Husker career tackle leader?
  23. Who else could it be? 41 is Marc Munford.
