  2. Oh.....how you don't know Randy. Let's see: 1) exiting the Washington Redskins game before the game was over. The vikings were setting up for an onsides kick, Moss responded that he didn't think the Vikings would get the ball back. 2) lost scholarship to Notre Dame because he got involved in a racial fight 3) lost scholarship to Florida State because he smoked weed. 4) in high school he violently kicked a classmate 5) in 2002, he was driving his car and was making an illegal turn. He was ordered to stop by a city worker. She stood in front of his car. He wouldn't stop. The traffic worker fell to the ground. He was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and marijuana possession. 6) With the Raiders, he publicly complained about the offense. 7) He continually was at odds with his coaches, quarterbacks, and teammates. Now, that is jerkish behavior! He's a headache for any team that he's a part of....sorry New England.
  3. Glad to see Okafor making the list at #296!!
  4. home boy. It doesn't appear promising that we can get him away from Washington. Also, how could that program NOT be on the rise. They have hit bottom and can only only get better.
  5. Not in any particular order: American Beauty - Great film about the decay of Surburbia. It's been done before...but not like this. Great performances, especially from Annette Benning and Kevin Spacey Lord of the Rings Trilogy - The Fellowship of the Ring being the best of the three. Fargo - I just loved how this story unfolded. Frances McDormand's character was absolutely perfect. My favorite scenes were when one of his ex-boyfriends tries to hit on her in the restaurant and the last scene when she lectures the psycho killer. Coen brothers make great films. The Big Lewbowski and Raising Arizona are also some of my favorites. Kill Bill I & 2 - You either like Quentin Tarantino movies or dislike them. Uma was riveting in her role as "The Bride". You can tell that Quentin is a movie fanatic as he pays tribute to genres that had influenced him. Kill Bill paid homage to Spaghetti Westerns, maritial art, anime and grindhouse films. The other Tarantino film that I like is "Jackie Brown". The Graduate - I've seen this film countless times, and it continues to impress me. The best film ever directed by Mike Nichols. Great performances from Hoffman and, especially, Anne Bancroft. Man With No Name Trilogy (Fistful of dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) - I honestly can't say which one of these three films are most enjoyable to watch. I love the Spaghetti western genre. Would like to add "Once Upon a Time in the West" (Fonda in one of his best roles). Badlands - It is odd seeing Martin Sheen in this role - a James Dean throwback - and Sissey Spacek as the naive love interest. Beautifully cinematography, wonderfully directed and written. One of those films that did not receive a lot of attention at first but is now appreciated for being a great film. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - I have no idea why I still find it funny after watching it a kazillion times. I also think that "Life of Brian" is halarious! Talk to Her, Run Lola Run, Das Boot (the editted/cut version!) - My three favorite foreign film entries! Miller's Crossing - Great mobster film with a twist. Young Frankenstein - Hands down....my favorite Mel Brook's movie. (Yes, better than "Blazing Saddles"!). Gene Wilder was halarious. Even better were Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman and Gene Hackman (whose 15 minutes of screen time ranks as one of the best comic performances that I have seen). The Wild Bunch - best western of the 60's? There were plenty of good ones.....definitely Sam Peckinpah's best work. Speaking of 60 westerns...."Cat Ballou" was also a good film. Not too hot on "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" - ruined by the bicycle scene and the annoying music by Burt whatshisname. I concur....I great film. My favorite war films are "Full Metal Jacket" (two movies in one), and "Platoon". My favorite Wayne movies would be "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", "Red River" and "The Cowboys" Goldfinger set the formula for the Bond films. Would also say the "From Russia With Love" and "The Spy Who Loved Me" are also great Bond films.
  6. I was thinking the same thing. One game suspension might happen....but, I doubt any more than that. good news for husker nation. It is imperative, IMO, that he plays against USC (we need all of our offensive weapons).
  7. I'd have to agree with T-Bone on this one. I think that Quentin sees the field this year. Just a hunch. Cody, Wilson, Lucky played their first year in Cally's system. I think that bc the depth at RB is a question mark, Quentin gets some reps - maybe mid season or so. I don't have a lot of confidence that the starting running backs will get through the season unscathed. Plus, I think that Callahan really likes this kid....thinks that he has talent to contribute right away. Remember....Cally went after Quentin when the kid was waivering after we had recruited Mendoza. Just a hunch....but I think they we'll see him play this year.
  8. Maybe Clemens would be the catalyst to get the team back on track. I wonder what the Vegas odds are that Joe Torre remains the manager by the end of the season.
  9. Essentially, Callahan took a Raiders team to the Super Bowl that had no reason to be there. I think that overlooking the fact that he got them there and focusing on the dismal proceeding year is folly. The fact is that Super Bowl Raiders overachieved to get there....and you have to credit good coaching for that.
  10. I don't think that Callahan is even close to being on the hot seat. There has been steady improvement every year that he has coached. His recruiting continues to be exceptional. Heck, Callahan is not the only coach to get slammed for not winning the "big" games. Look at Mack Brown (until 2006 at least). Even Osbourne wasn't immune from receiving the same criticism. However, I think that this is the year that Callahan's vision for winning a championship starts looking like a reality. In 2007-2008, I would expect that "process" will be defined as Callahan fielding one of the top tier teams in the country - Either by winning the B12 or winning a BCS bowl game. Otherwise, I think that NEXT year we can talk about Callahan being on the hot seat.
  11. On a related topic. I could be mistaken....but didn't KSU coach Princess change his mind about a commit at the last moment this past year? ....before the LOI...and leaving the unfortunate student scrambling to find another school? This does not happen very often. But, I guess the coaches - like the players - can change their minds before signing day. I also seem to recall that the Huskers have done this in the past when character issues had surfaced about a new commit.
  12. I had the same fear that the Vikes would draft either Quinn or Ginn when they were on the clock....or that they wouldn't make a decision after their 15 minutes were up and three other teams would draft before them. AP should do well with the Vikes. I don't have a lot of confidence with T Jackson as the QB, and I believe that, in the near future, reality will hit the Viking braintrust in the face and they will be forced to acquire (either through free agency, trade or draft) a franchise QB, but drafting Quinn would have been a mistake IMO. It's not that I don't think that Quinn won't be a great QB in the NFL. It's just that the 'Queens have to have other weapons to support a young QB. Of course, all Vikes fans had to be worried that the team would draft Ginn since they had greatly overreached with Troy Williamson a couple of years ago. The truth is that the Vikings had so many need positions going into the draft. Getting AP was just a great value pick. It looks like an even better pick now that his collarbone looks like it won't be a problem.
  13. Okay, I see us as slightly improving over last year's win-loss record. We'll loss three or four games. I hope that we don't lose more than 4. Missouri is really the only competition we have in the B12 North next year, so I think we will repeat as B12 N Champs. The "Big Win", I hope, comes in the B12 Championship Game. Keller hasn't played a down yet, but I'm confident that the offense will continue to be potent. Defensively, I have a lot of questions. Anyway, in terms of expectations, I think that a reasonable step-up for the program is to win the B12 Championship Game. Our schedule is tough, so if the Huskers can win the B12, they have demonstrated, in my book, that they are a top program.
  14. Seriously, what team would want Favre to start for their team? He is way past his prime....I'm not sure if he has any good years left in him. Not a wise decision to alienate the organization and fans that have been faithful to him throughout these years.
  15. Seriously, when are the Dolphins going to wash their hands of him? He has no desire to change his ways....doesn't seem to care. Of course, I also wonder if he would ever be able to pay the Dolphins the 8+ mil he owes them.
  16. Anytime I start thinking about Coz's 3-4 defense, I am reminded of the score TTU 70 Huskers 10. Oh the horror...the horror.
  17. This thread is like a Seinfeld episode.....it's about nothing...yet, surprisingly entertaining to read.
  18. Well spank me with a wet noodle and call me "Lassie". I never thought that Clemens would return to the Yanks. I hope that he does well 'cause I like old farts that somehow manage to keep their professional sports careers alive.....except I hate the Yankees (or "the Best Team that Money Can Buy").
  19. Very impressive indeed! You must be thrilled.
  20. The sad thing about Herian is that, if he hadn't broken his leg, he would have been - in all likelihood - a first-rounder. I'm glad that someone gave him a chance, but I don't think that he will ever recover sufficiently to play in the NFL. Hope I'm wrong.
  21. I am a Viking fan. But, I have been so frustrated with their drafts and personnel decisions over the last five years that I have thought about abandoning ship and finding a different team. However, for once, I thought the ViQueens drafted well....not great....but solid nevertheless. Most of the needs that they had going into the draft were those to jump start an inept offense. So, I was happy that they picked up Adrian Peterson. If they had selected Quinn, I would have thrown the towel. Peterson is exactly what the offense needs - a big time play maker. Chester Taylor may have rushed for over a thousand yards last year, but he was just an average back. He yards per carry was not impressive. I know that Peterson has been prone to injuries, but his value was too high for the ViQueens to pass up. He'll run behind one of the better OL in the league. I also like their second pick - Simeon Rice from South Carolina. He is a big target (6' 4") and has an outstanding vertical leap. He may not be a blazer .........but neither was another Rice that did well in the NFL. Aundrae Allison was another good WR pickup for the fifth round. He runs a 4.39 40, so he can help stretch the field. I'm not hot about DE Brian Robinson. He seems to be light for the NFL. But, he is a need pick and possibilty could bulk up. LB Rufus Alexander is also undersized but, who knows, he came from a good program and probably has been coached well. QB Thigpen is a D1-AA player. Probably will not see the field. He's a 7th rounder. In those rounds, teams just take chances....hoping to find a diamond in the rough. So, I'm happy to say that I can give the ViQueens a solid "B" for a grade. How about your team?
  22. - quote from a viewer comment on youtube That was a gut wrenching video. It took me awhile to find out from viewer comments that the kid was okay. But, dang that is a scary incident.
  23. Ouch! Do you have to rub salt in wounds? Oh, by the way, where is KC in the division? Oh yeah....last place....as usual.
