  1. I'm not so sure about that. What if he doesn't get it but the new HC retains him as WR coach and he gets a promotion to AHC and/or passing coordinator. A real possibility I would think. And even if he were to leave you can't be held hostage in picking a new HC by worrying about some current players and recruits leaving.
  2. I have no idea if he would be successful here but it sure wouldn't be dull, win or lose.
  3. Kind of like Purdue's O. A lot of short, high percentage stuff but it sure seems to be getting the job done for them.
  4. Which I always wondered about since UNL campus has a tobacco free policy which XHCSF choose to ignore. I guess when you make $5M/yr. and are one of the good ol' boys you can do whatever you damn well please. And the 1000 mile away view, I agree with your brothers. He did come across as unprofessional and it got worse the longer he was there. See the 2022 B1G media days where he couldn't even be bothered to give a cursory introductory statement.
  5. Looking at the updated NCAA stats today and it is somewhat scary the defenses we'll be facing in the last 5 games, especially considering our struggles on the OL. Points per game allowed. #1 Illinois - 8.86 ppg #3 Iowa - 9.83 ppg #4 Minnesota - 11.67 ppg #5 Michigan - 12.14 ppg #33 Wisconsin - 21.57 ppg
  6. The game unfolded a lot like I thought it would with a couple of surprises although the outcome was closer than I thought it might be. First, while I expected Palmer to get open a few times I didn't envision our deep game and long plays to be anywhere near as dominate as it was. Palmer should get B1G offensive player of the week. The lack of a running game wasn't a surprise since Purdue's run defense was ranked only few yards behind Rutgers which thoroughly stuffed us. Purdue did the same. Purdue's short to intermediate passing game was their strength coming in an we didn't have an answer to it. O'Connell, as advertised, was able to deliver the ball quickly and accurately to his receivers. But the surprise was how consistently they were able to pick up good gains on the ground since their running game was ranked #103, averaging 119 yards/gm coming in. Our defense, facing a decent team after two games of playing bad teams showed again how utterly incapable they are of stopping any team with a pulse. Pleasant surprise of the game - Tommy Hill on KO returns. We had better KO returns than I can remember for a long time and it looked like he was just a step away from breaking a couple all the way. Illinois, who also has a bye week and looking to be the best team in the West is going to be a monumental challenge.
  7. My first thought was it reminded me of my HS locker room.
  8. Neck 'n neck with Campbell at 3-3. Leipold in the lead at 5-1. They all have several top #25 teams left on the schedule so I expect more losses for each.
  9. May have been, I don't know. Hence my "For what it's worth". Figured something new in these circular discussions wouldn't hurt.
  10. For what it's worth. Compared to the overwhelming lack of development compared to other teams with seemingly lower ranked classes this would make sense I guess.
  11. Not exactly what we need IMHO. A 4 year backup who was just booted off the team. OL is by far the most difficult position group to fill through transfers and this doesn't look like it would be a move for NU.
  12. Can't imagine where they could get such a preposterous idea???
  13. He was in the booth with the B1G announcer this past spring.
  14. I think we might eke out 1 win, maybe 2 if we are very fortunate but 0 wouldn't surprise me at all.
  15. Or even more interesting would have been if we had a new Head Coach, OC & DC which is what should have happened IMHO.
  16. And that proves what? They don't pay close attention to other non-conference teams? They won't play for a new coach unless they know who he is before he is hired?
  17. I don't know about that. Regardless, I stop betting on the Huskers while TO was still in charge (not that I really gamble anyway). I'd always bet with my heart instead of my head and came out poorer for it.
  18. The latest NCAA Scoring Defense stats below. These last 6 games are going to be brutal, especially considering our struggles on offense. 1. Illinois - 8.00 2. Minnesota - 8.80 3. Iowa - 9.83 5. Michigan - 11.33 32. Wisconsin - 19.50 44. Purdue - 22.00 90. Nebraska - 29.33
  19. Meyer never was in play. Mullen has a 62.8% winning record as HC. No thanks. If that's the best we can do I'd rather take my chances with somebody like Chadwell.
  20. Matt Davison calling his last Nebraska football game
  21. Maybe my favorite play of the season.
  22. How do you know that? What if he knocks it out the the park the remaining games this year and rebuilds the program to be consistently at or near the top of the West (or nationally relevant when the divisions go away). Not saying that will happen but it is a possibility, this is college football afterall. Are you saying you will be unhappy with MJ as head coach regardless of how well he might do?
