No way. People would see his record and go into attack mode. He'd be labeled Riley v2.8 behind all the other 7 or so non-splash candidates that don't meet their standards.

** 2022 Opponent Previews : Indiana (Game 5) **
Dogs In A Pile replied to Saunders's topic in Husker Football
I watched that game and they were beaten by a clearly superior team. But they played hard until the end and didn't give up. Should be a pretty good matchup next week with two fairly evenly matched teams. -
What do you know that people close to the program don't know or are lying to us about? I have no idea who we can attract but I've heard more than one person with connections in the program state that the dept. is in great shape financially and money will not be an issue for this hire. Every points to Trev spending whatever is necessary to get who he is after.

He is 64-24 (73%) @ Mich. 122-51 (71%) as a HC. Not is the same universe as what I consider to be the worst coach in NU history, FHCSF.

Update from Trev on coaching search.
-
Because the #1 thing Alberts said in his search was looking for in a new coach was character. Not lack of character or a character.
-
Done deal? It is a certified rumor after all.
-
Maybe add Sandusky too if they could manage to spring him from the super max facility where he currently resides. /s

1. Dave Aranda - Yes 2. Jim Leonhard - May turn out to be great but I have a hard time believing Trev will hire someone without a proven track record as HC. Bigger risk. 3. Lance Leipold - Yes. If he can turn KU around I'd like to see what he could do here. 4. Mickey Joseph - Like Micky but a very long shot IMHO. He will really need to knock it out of the park the next 8 games. Would love to see him stay on if he doesn't get it. 5. Matt Campbell - Could do worse but I think there are better choices we could offer, but will they accept? +1 Jamey Chadwell - Intriguing to me. Bigger risk with no P5 background. Think Trev will look to someone more established but Chadwell would be interesting.

Lance Leipold addresses the rumors. Says his focus is building KU into a winner for the long haul. But doesn't say he would not be a candidate for another job either. https://saturdaytradition.com/nebraska-football/nebraska-coaching-search-lance-leipold-addresses-rumors-linking-him-to-other-jobs/

Wow. 136 pages so far in just over 3 weeks. Great job! With probably 10 weeks left until we find out who our next HC will be this thread is on pace to easily eclipse the Scott Frost mega-thread from 2017 and go far beyond it. And the real and/or fabricated leaks haven't even started up in earnest yet!

Steve Taylor on Frost And Other Toxic People Down There
Dogs In A Pile replied to Dogs In A Pile's topic in Husker Football
Simple. Anybody that is not named Urban. Since Trev explicitly stated character as #1 in what he was looking for in the new coach that automatically rules out Meyer from the get go. And he is the only coach on the planet capable of turning this ship around. The Meyer mob knows exactly who Trev is considering and are none too happy with the choices he has made since anybody not named Urban less than or equal to Mike Riley by default. Regardless of their record or the programs they may have rebuilt through the years. In their eyes Trev is now on the hot seat and may not make it to Thanksgiving in which case their approved replacement can then name Urban as head coach (regardless if wants to come here or coach again at all).- 111 replies

According ShortSideOption. I read the tweet as off field, S/C, support staff?? Maybe some of the toxic personnel that have been eluded to in various reports floating around.

It's the story of HCSF's entire tenure at NU. Only reason he was 16-31 was a little run of bad luck.

Mood During 1st Bye Week - How Many Wins?
Dogs In A Pile replied to Red Five's topic in Husker Football
I was torn between 2 and 3 but being the eternal optimist I decided to go with 3. -
More disappointing revaluations coming out. Felt betrayed by Frost and other decisions need to be made about people who are "toxic down there". Mind boggling and can't comprehend they haven't been tackling in practice. As always, ST is measured, well spoken and a true Husker.

Yeah, I can't imagine Trev not being totally PO'd about this kind of crap. Bad enough he is talking out of school to his broadcasting buddies but to do it in a room filled with mic's and camera is plain stupid. Just the good ol' boy network in action I guess. He deserves to be axed for this.

If that is the case I'm glad he didn't.
