  1. It would have been nice to have them both and an offense designed to utilize both +Allen +Manning +Betts
  2. Did Frost really say that about the 2022 season? If so, I missed it. I know he made comments along those lines before previous seasons but rumor has it that we may be losing more than a few key players from this years squad on both sides of the ball. Hard to believe he is still saying that but talk is cheap. Wins, not so much. And I believe if he can manage 5 wins in 2022 that will be seen as an improvement and earn him another year or two. I don't think a winning season will be required, just improvement over 3-9. Trev can clearly see the outflow of talent off of this years team but luckily for HCSF he has a soft spot for a former Husker player and allowed him one more attempt. Frost should have be been dismissed after 4 years and 15-29. He would have been gone at almost any other school except maybe the permanent bottom of the barrel teams where they don't really expect to win regardless of who is coaching.
  3. I could see us going 5-1. On the other hand I could see us going 1-5 just as easily. 2022 is basically a rebuilding year after losing so much talent. And after dumping almost half of the staff I think it is anybody's guess as to how this will all play out.
  4. Great idea! Then you probably wouldn't have any more new facilities to worry about Cost increases are written into the contracts. Any company that guarantees the prices over a several year project probably won't be around long enough to see it through. Or they take so many shortcuts, cut so many corners and use such inferior materials you end up with a death trap instead of a crown jewel.
  5. What, better to bury your head in the sand and pretend everything is A-OK in Huskerland? I appreciate someone trying to explain why in the hell, under HCSF's leadership, this program has sunk to one of the worst teams in the B1G that finished dead last in recruiting this year. We went from a pretty decent program under Bo, to a .500 program under Riley, to a bottom feeder under Frost. Yep, all is well.
  6. I read it last night too. Quite disturbing between not being coached up, not recruiting within the state and complete inability to run a competent program from the head coach. With SSO's ties to the program I believe it is for the most part true. And looking at their record, play on the field, outflow of high school talent from the state and in general what a clusterf#$% the last 4 years have been it certainly bears out what a disaster this has been. It irks me even more that HCSF wasn't released after last season. 15-29 is all you need to know.
  7. Everything I have read is he doesn't want to be a full time coach though. That is why he got out of it in the first place to pursue his other priorities. Can't hardly force the guy into a job he doesn't want.
  8. Read on the other board he made $400k at NU. Last Oregon DL coach made $650k. Didn't check into so don't know if it's true or not but that is a lot of pocket change plus he's going to a perennial winning program instead of perennial bottom feeder.
  9. I thought he was noted for being able to design and call plays that fit the players he had on the team? If he does end up calling plays instead Frost (that is a big IF) and is going to pass the ball 40 times per game as you indicate then we would probably be better off with HH instead of LS. Maybe that is his plan?
  10. I have the same feeling. Much more favorable schedule but we are losing a ton of talent. Almost all new coaches on the O side but still same head man running the show. So many unknowns but the last 4 years have made me gun shy about expecting a winning season. Will we still find ways to lose games we should win or will things be different? Hard to believe they can continue to yank defeat from the jaws of victory forever but they keep coming up with new ways to lose. And the bye weeks this year didn't do much good this year as we lost to Purdue and Wisconsin anyway.
  11. I get what you are saying and you maybe right. I haven't seen enough of anybody left in the room to really know. Maybe you have. But HCSF choose to not even give Smothers one snap and played AM when he had a broken jaw and was hobbled by an ankle sprain so he could even run or scramble. That doesn't give me much confidence that anybody we have is able to play at the D1 level.
  12. I was going post the same thing. Hard to argue about the seeding when you have a 21-7 record and every team above us has between 0 and 6 losses. Maybe some feel we should be top seeded just because we are Nebraska and the whole world is out to get us? Anyway, Go Big Red.
  13. Still no word on Special Teams coach or advisor from what I've seen? Although not surprising I guess since it seems HCSF still doesn't take ST seriously even though they cost us wins every year. Out of curiosity I looked up the aggregate ST rankings for the four years of Frost's tenure. https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa/fei/overallst/2021 2018 - #109 - The high point of ST under Frost 2019 - #123 2020 - #115 2021 - #128
  14. I'd actually be quite intrigued by what this staff could do with Smothers/Haarberg assuming we don't get a QB in the portal. Designing an offense that plays to their strengths and calling plays that will leverage their talent while keeping the opponents guessing compared to what we've seen the last 4 years. And it's not like we are really afraid of having a losing season if things don't work out. At this point another year without making a bowl really isn't going to make much of a difference.
  15. The way they conduct the pressers have been joke for decades now. Guess they see no reason to change it.
  16. I'd file a complaint directly with the guy that owns this website about people starthing threads in the wrong forum.
  17. Hard to argue with this. Cerni - 2021 Punts - 16 Yards - 590 Avg - 36.88 Long - 47 50+ - 0
  18. NU's two punters combined for 2021 Punts = 48 Averaged = 40.3 Longest = 84 Inside the 20 = 12 50+ = 10 FC = 14 Blocked = 1
  19. After losing Toure, Allen & Falck we can certainly use them. Oh, and a QB too would come in handy.
  20. Best wishes for him no matter where he ends up. He was a class act every step of the way here even when it would have been easy for things to get ugly.
  21. True, while there was certainly many individual breakdowns and mistakes by the kickers/returners it doesn't address the systemic problems NU has had with its special teams (and other areas as well) all four years HCSF has been at the helm. If you are happy with the following with follow stats from 2021 then maybe we just keep doing what we've been doing. There is a reason the vast majority of D1 schools have a dedicated ST coach. Kickoff Return Defense - #116 Kickoff Returns = #125 Net Punting - #118 Punt Return Defense - #86 Punt Returns - #128
  22. And considering we are losing our top 2 receivers plus Falck I think it is a bit of stretch.
  23. I have no idea if this will work out but I'm fully behind the new staff and hoping for great success.
  24. And after watching the first four years of his tenure that is a very distinct possibility.
