  1. Looking at the radar I'd be surprised if this game gets finished tonight. I'm guessing if it gets cancelled it will not be made up since the two teams bye weeks don't fall on the same weekend. Sucks since we might need another win to become bowl eligible. Since it is a long weekend I suppose they could finish it tomorrow but I'm not sure how that would work.
  2. Great news. Outstanding offer list in probably the #1 position of need.
  3. Good. Maybe we can put this behind us now and move on to the game which is in 3 days.
  4. I've mentioned Cam Taylor in another thread but in thinking about it would almost have to be someone who is currently on offense IMHO. To expect someone from the D to come in and be able to function at even a rudimentary level in this offense is insane. Hopefully we don't need a 4th stringer but if we do I wonder if any offensive players have ever played QB?
  5. Run fake, pass to TE who releases from block to the right flat for a two point conversion after our D scores on a pick six on Akron's opening possession.
  6. Well this development stinks. I figured he might be gone at the end of the year if he didn't see much playing time but didn't see this coming now. This seems to be the norm in college football anymore and with him being recruited to play in a pro style offense it's probably in his best interest to go somewhere the runs a drop back passing attack. Still leaves us in bind with one scholly QB on the roster. Hope AM shines and is able to stay healthy all year. I guessing Frost is going to be very aware of this and adjust the game plansto not place any unnecessary risk on AM. You can't call the game scared but you have to be aware there are only walk-on's behind him. I wonder who would be 4th string? I think Cam Taylor played QB in HS although that would be ton to put on a freshman who is now your 2nd string CB.
  7. McKenzie Milton is listed @ 5' 11" & 185# and he seemed to get by OK last year in HCSF's offense so I think AM will get by just fine. If AM can even approach that level of efficiency I'll be elated.
  8. Zips - 17 Huskers - 34 Passing - 257 Rushing - 151
  9. Not surprising seeing he has only been on the team for 3 weeks now and the others have had the winter, spring and summer to learn. Guessing he will see situational duty with limited set plays in the beginning of the season and his role will increase as the season progresses and he learns the system.
  10. Hmmmm. Adrian & Stanley seem pretty happy after tonight's practice. I wonder if Adrian got some good news today? I also read Adrian stuck around after practice while TG left the field.
  11. Doesn't look good. It seems like every time I watch one of these HS games on TV with one of our commits they end up with a serious injury. Think I'm going to stop watching.
  12. Perfect fit for Scott Frost's offense. Hope he has a great official visit next week and gets a glimpse of what this offense can achieve even though it is the first game.
  13. I voted for TG earlier this week but was considering changing my mind to AM until I heard the audio from HSCF this morning. He again emphasized efficiency, taking care of the ball, making good, timely decisions and not making mistakes. So, I'm sticking with TG based solely on HS passing stats where he had a big edge. But AM made a huge jump from his soph. to jr. year. If he would have played as a senior who knows, he might have matched TG. Is this relevant? No, but since we don't have access to practices I needed something to base my guess on. Comp % TG - 65%/63%/70% - 66% career AM - 51%/60% - 56% career TD/INT TG - 35/11, 45/9, 61/11 - 141/31career AM - 14/7, 25/4 - 39/11 career
  14. Not surprised at all by this. Strange situation.
  15. That makes sense. I wasn't reading it like that and couldn't figure out what Sam was getting at. My guess is the team will know tomorrow since they are starting the Arkon prep and there is no way 135+ guys plus support staff could keep that a secret until Monday. This is almost as suspenseful as the Scott Frost Mega Thread - All Things Scott Frost but without the 300+ pages of postings.
  16. In segment 5 this morning Benning was talking about how this week at camp was big in several ways and said to expect several players to be leaving. Not unexpected as the depth chart sorts itself out. He didn't mention any names but a caller talked about Roberts and it was brought up that he hadn't been mentioned much and really hadn't lived up to expectations. It was a pretty good segment with Benning staying on point for the most part. Sharp & Benning 2018-08-21 Seg 5
  17. They confirmed this at the end of the Minnesota show this evening.
  18. Agree Barry will get the start @ LB. TG will start at QB. AM will see plenty of action this year. Cam Taylor might not start 1st game but will be starting by the middle of the year.
  19. QB - First year in a new system that requires a paradigm shift from anything they have run before + no experience could/will get ugly at times. But will be stellar at other times. Should get better as the season progresses. OL Depth, especially at tackle. Trouble if we have many injuries with the front five. Defense overall. New coach + system will take time to get better. Pretty decent talent in spots but can they gel as a team? Still not convinced CB won't be a weak spot. PK - Who knows???? Fans - unrealistic expectations among some of the message board fanatics could lead to ugliness although I think the general population has more realistic expectations. Fully expect some to be questioning Frost's hire before the season is over.
  20. Looks like Sipp has been hitting the Kool-Aid pretty hard today. Steven M. Sipple: Frost's QB comments reality check, but four-win improvement still realistic
  21. Yikes. Three of those highlights were against the high school I graduated from including a 93 yrd TD run, 55 yrd TD run and a 43 yrd TD run where he just mows down the safety. Looks like they suck just a bad as when I played there. We won a total of 3 games combined my Jr. & Sr. years. And the league wasn't the highest caliper of competition either although that was a long time ago. Things change. But Wandale looks to be the real deal.
  22. I could be wrong but it probably has more do with the fact he and his staff took over a program that was 0-12 two years ago and went undefeated in his second season. Taking a G5 school to a New Years Day bowl with the big boys. Would you rather he come in and try to put together a bunch of strangers from scratch? I'm ecstatic he was able to bring his entire staff including some support personnel. They will be able to hit the ground running and won't have to wait for a bunch of guys thrown together to get to know each other, gel (or start in-fighting and back stabbing as seen before) and learn the system they are going to teach. It has been a while since we've had a truly cohesive staff IMHO and from all that we have heard these coaches work together as a unit very well and I believe the results will be seen on the field in fairly short order.
