  1. Coming in as an OC isn't a destination anywhere. Unless, I suppose you just want to settle down and don't want to do the HC thing anymore. It's a stepping stone to getting back to a HC gig someday if that's the goal.
  2. I meant going straight from analyst to P5 HC as in how I interpreted your previous post. Sark got to Texas because of his success as an OC at a high level. And yes, I also confirmed my info from that wiki page
  3. Not true. Although he briefly was an analyst at his first Bama stint, he went: OC Bama, OC Falcons, OC Bama --> Texas.
  4. I agree that Sark isn't likely to get fired. But it's Texas, so who knows. To your point about big time coaches and going the analyst route, Is there actually an example of a current P5 coach that played it out like this? Maybe there is, I just can''t think of one.
  5. We probably will end up with someone younger and not ever a HC. Why not Nebraska for the likes of Mullen, Herman and possibly Sark? Turn around a struggling offense that Native Son and former NC winning HCSF couldn't do. Especially if you were allowed to bring 3 assistants with you. That would be pretty impressive and would look pretty good on a resume.
  6. You may be right, but where would be an example of one of these openings? Florida, USC and LSU aren't hiring recent P5 failures. Even Herman is not very far out from his jettison from Texas. Maybe I'll end up being wrong, but I see P5 schools going straight for "up an comers" like Fickell, Napier, etc. Or trying luring other P5 coaches (Campbell, Franklin, etc).
  7. But are they really still considered "big time" coaches? They just got the pink slip for failing to meet expectations. I just don't see another P5 hiring a newly fired P5 coach from the previous season. I actually don't recall that happening in my recent memory. Maybe it has. I suppose they could go Go5 or FCS, but is that a better resume booster than a P5 coordinator, assuming both were successful? Who knows?
  8. Why wouldn’t someone like Herman, Mullen or Sark ( if he gets canned) come to be our OC? If they turn the O around they just set themselves for another crack at a HC gig or at worst, a nice salary. It’s got to be better than being some lame a$$ analyst somewhere.
  9. Exactly. Garbage "no call" by a garbage official working for a garbage conference. The loss was still on us, though. Absolutely terrible tackling. The local HS team down the street tackles better than we did. Not having Domann and Williams hurt.
  10. I agree. Defender didn't play the ball. Got there way early. I expect nothing less from the B1G. We probably wouldn't have taken advantage of it anyway. Why the hell not throw it to your 6'9" NFL bound best pass catcher?
  11. His downfall may end up being not cutting Austin, Verduzco and Held loose a year ago.
  12. "This is car 55. Uh, we're in a truck (laughs)". -----Burton Mercer (played by one of my all time favorite actors,BTW) Pretty much how I feel about our ST.
  13. I agree on the inferiority complex notion. Either the new coordinator and assistants will give us signs that this and the consistent execution of the basic fundamentals mentioned above are improving in 2022, or they won't and that will be it. I think we'll get a good idea by October 1 which way this is going to go.
  14. All fans, save for maybe Georgia, are pissed about something. If we were 6-4 with 4 conference losses, we’d be mad that we’re going to miss out on Indy and instead go to some crappy bowl.
  15. We’re still interesting to the TV executives. At least we still have that.
  16. As long as Ohio State keeps doing their thing, yes.
  17. Frost would already have an uphill climb with an elite staff coming in. If it’s a second tier staff, it’s going to be straight up a rock wall with greasy hands. The biggest hope is getting a few studs from the portal. Especially QB, right tackle and edge rusher.
  18. I'm not sure Lubick was "all in" as a coach. Just my impressions from things I've read. Who knows? Can't believe everything you read I guess. But I get what you mean. I prefer something a little different from the Oregon offense for long-term, but it may be the better route in the short term--because if we suck again in '22, there isn't goin to be a long-term for HCSF.
  19. That quote is very "telling" and furthers your rather "gloomy" prognostications.
  20. And if Frost shocks the world and goes 8-4 next year, Trev will look like a genius for sticking with him. I have no doubt Trev want's this to work with Scott, but what he has orchestrated here is essentially a probable win-win scenario for himself and more importantly, the University/Athletic Department. If things go poorly, then at worst Trev has bought himself another year to work on his list of prospective replacement targets. If one is, in fact needed. Really a brilliant move.
  21. I thought it was a pretty good atmosphere for an 11:00 kick. Not a vintage night game, but not bad either.
  22. Can analysts go visit a recruit? I don’t know. If they can, heck yeah! It would be the best spot for him.
