Not what I said. But a 7 year deal (vs the standard 5) gives the impression of getting longer to “rebuild.” So my point why did we even do it? If we’re firing after 4 based on W/L, then a 5 year deal would have been better. IMO a shorter initial contact provides for a better sense of urgency.

I agree about the winning and understand why many are calling for a change. But I’m asking why 7 vs the standard 5 year deal? If we fire him, and maybe that’s the right choice, then NU and their 7 year deal essentially was misleading Coach by giving the impression that plenty of time was going to be allowed to right the ship.

If Frost ends up getting let go, and there’s enough reason to do so, then I hope one of the first questions asked at the presser is why in the hell did a 7 year contract get approved when he was hired? Did they not consider what has transpired in regards to his abysmal W/L record as a possibility? How does a near unprecedented 7 year contract not scream “take your time “? If there was any sense of urgency with HCSF, he may have made coaching changes last year. I’m guessing he figured he was safe at least through 5. So if he’s canned, then the 7 year deal was a big “F” up that Chancellor Green needs to show some accountability for, IMO.

For better or worse, I’d say the first two years were not spent learning, but more waiting for his system to take hold and get us rolling over everybody else. I think 13-0 and COTY contributed to this sort of stubbornness. Even though he has since been humbled, it should have been plainly apparent to him in 2018 that he was going to have to do the adjusting. Not the B1G.

Is the offensive philosophy the problem or is it how it is called in the game that is the problem? I’m leaning toward the latter being the biggest problem. It’s where I think Lubick can help if he’s given full reins to do so.

I don’t think anyone on the offensive staff, except possibly Becton, is doing a good job. That’s why I’m near 100% sure Frost will make changes if he gets a chance to. But the article told me nothing in regards to potential staff changes.

I read it and didn't get any impression either way on what he may do in regards to coaching changes. At this point in the season, there's no good reason for him to even vaguely address this. He did get rid of Walters, so it's not like he can't stomach coaching changes or anything like that. If Frost is retained, and at this point I'm about 70% that he will, I would be astonished if there were no staff changes.

You make a pretty solid case. I would like to see Frost retained and some new faces on the offensive staff and yes, a ST coach. Plus a transfer QB who's a good passer. Adrian is talented and a great person, we just need to move on at some point. Maybe it still doesn't work. Maybe it does. But, I would like to see it.

I don’t think he does either. A change doesn’t guarantee either short or long term success. Of course, nether does retention, but it may be the best path forward if you don’t have a home run hire secured.

I’ve always wondered that too. The only thing I can think of is Trev making sure the athletic department is moving in the same direction behind the scenes. But, that seems like an overrated need. It certainly doesn’t account for 15- A Lot.

How is a person a “waste of time?” I’m assuming that you mean watching the Huskers is wasting your time.

All true, but could you make the arguments that a different QB could solve the turnover woes and a different O line coach, among other things, could solve most of the penalty problem? Add a good special teams coach and maybe things turn for the better in ‘22. A lot of coulds and maybes, but there’s always hope. I’m just not ready for the silly season coaching carousel again.

That's why I can see Scott doing it. I think most would "forgive" him by going this route and not making Trev let him go and still collecting the $20mil. A deal is a deal, but this place is special to him. Why take all that money when he knows he hasn't held up his end of the bargain. He doesn't like seeing what's going on either. In the post-game presser when asked a question about fans, he responded with (I'm paraphrasing) his gratitude towards the fans and having the opportunity to coach at his alma mater. I don't think he said "we're close" once. I think he knows it may be time to get away from football and spend more time with his family. But, this is pure speculation on my part. I don't know anything. Just trying to put myself in his shoes and mostly, I'm just disappointed that this is not working out.

I was at that game and will have to disagree with this. Michigan’s RBs, O-line, and D line were clearly better than ours from my vantage point. Otherwise I’d say we were fairly even. I’d even say Michigan also edged us in overall speed/athleticism IMO too, but that’s difficult to say for certain. I do agree that Harbaugh is a goofy D-bag, though.

If it comes to a change, I have no doubt we’d be able to get a good coach. Good AD, money, fan support, top notch facilities upgrades, weaker division of a prestigious conference…

No, I get what you’re saying. I just don’t think this candidate knows the heat is on. Or if you’re a P5 coach, the heat is always on, isn’t it? Anyway, Frost and Trev would approach their top pick something like “ we are finally turning this thing around, but just need a better (insert room) to get us where we want to be and we think you’re the right guy. Oh and we’ll pay you $200K more than you currently make.” Nebraska still looks good on resumes.

They justifiable should be out of a job this season. So if they are not, why would this hypothetical position coach think next year is when they finally get the axe?
