  1. Personally I'm a bit worried Alex Davis is getting so much praise, he hasn't shown he can play. I hope I'm wrong and becomes a stud this year.
  2. Isn't the saying don't practice til you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong. I think that was one of the reasons we used to be so consistent. We practiced the same thing for years and built off that.
  3. I think we hit 8-4, beat Wisconsin (I think they'll have a hard year), lose a last second game to OSU, Beat NU, but lose to IA, and MD plus one other on a flukey game. I think we may stumble down the stretch and get a bowl win to hit 9 wins. We barely miss out on the division by 1 game. To get over 9 we're going to have to get lucky or some other teams will have some injury issues. 2020 we're making the playoffs and winning a Natty! You heard it here first!
  4. When I think of stunts I keep seeing the Troy line running in unabated while our guys watched confused.....
  5. Does anyone know scholarship numbers going into camp. Are the numbers good even if Green makes it NU or are we going to have to "make room"
  6. We could have a bunch of walk ons say they identify themselves as females then, BOOM no more problems!
  7. Here's a simulation of NU CU on NCAA 14 with updated rosters: Close game that reminded me of last years game a lot.
  8. I think he sits out for the non-conference games. Frost has to have some punishment for the terrible text he sent, otherwise the media could take this and make it a real big deal.
  9. If Frost wins a conference title we all send him our oldest pair of boxers. If he wins a nattie we send him our wives undies lol
  10. Last time we had so many problems we were pretty good, hopefully the guys deliver it on the field so people forget about all the off season nonsense.
  11. I was thinking originally about guys that had injuries that forced them to miss most of the season last year. Martinez was hurt and probably not 100% all last year which is actually pretty awesome to think he could be even better.
  12. They made a bowl game and blew out Wisconsin, Purdue and Georgia Tech. Though I'm not totally sold that they are going to be as good as predicted. I see them going 8-4 due to easy schedule.
  13. There were a lot of injured players last year. Which do you think will have the greatest impact in 2019. First to come to mind for me are Ferguson, Honas, Wilderman, Jurgens, Rogers, Jones and others. I see Ferguson having a big year, he was pretty special when he was in. I think Honas will need a few games to get his confidence back and will have a strong second half of the season along with Jurgens.
  14. I think it'll be a run but we're not sure on the rb spot yet and it could be a qb keeper. Also the D's first identity will probably be to do just enough to let our offense win lol.
  15. stopping the run....... because it couldn't be much worse lol
  16. When I watch the playoff I have a hard time believing NU can keep up with those teams. We don't have many players that are "NFL talent" compared to teams that are always in the playoff mix. If we got in it would be one of the greatest coaching jobs ever along with some good luck.
  17. We'll have to see what OSU looks like under Day. Is he going to be more Lincoln Riley or will he be Will Muschamp
  18. Yes, I've been watching some videos of last years games and the D had stretches of being terrible. Our line couldn't stop the run on many occasions, the secondary had lots of missed assignments and penalties, and the pass rush couldn't get there unless we sent in extra players. I think the defense can only improve but they're still a liability until in my mind until they prove they can hang with tough teams.
  19. I think this would work if the big 12 dissolved and we were left with 4 16 team leagues. Then the playoff could be left with the 4 league champs plus 4 at large teams. In that scenario everyone would be trying to get the best teams in the big 12 and UT and OK would be desirable. Would make the west much more difficult to win though.
  20. I can't wait until we actually beat them on the field, need to get the monkey off our back
  21. https://www.cleveland.com/osu/2008/01/stricter_scholarship_rules_put.html Here's an article about baseball that talks about the disadvantage B1G schools have. Talks about how depth is more difficult without oversigning
  22. I'm just saying the B1G needs to get on an even playing field. I look at it like Poker where you some teams have more chips and are more likely to win. By limiting oversigning you put yourself at a disadvantage. I'd be all for NU to the SEC, the SEC wants to win and doesn't hide it. The B1G is somehow too honorable to go the full extent the rules allow. I don't think football is at as much of a disadvantage as baseball, anyone know why the baseball teams are severely limited in oversigning. Having teams from much smaller conferences have more baseball success shouldn't happen, but with the limits on over signing the conference can only hope for a lucky run every few decades like what we saw from MI this year.
  23. Great discussion guys. The main point I wanted to make on the thread is why does the B1G put itself in a voluntary disadvantage when most other conferences aren't. Look at the SEC and ACC, they push the limits of the rules and have not had any repercussions from the NCAA on its championships. I feel the B1G thinks itself too honorable to make the changes the other conferences have. Hopefully the new commissioner will change some of the league policy. NU already has geographic restrictions and the added B1G restrictions make things more difficult. I just would like to see some kind of parity across the board. I'd also like to see the playoff committee have some more transparency, it seems that a cleaner record is more important than strength of schedule. You can't tell me OK had a tougher schedule than OSU last year, but few in the conference argued that they belonged in the playoff.
