  1. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about the offense after 1 game, either. That was the same pitcher who held Nebraska in check in the second game of the doubleheader last year, if I heard correctly. Kubat, Hander and Hirsch were all pretty reliable last season, while Pierce is a little bit inconsistent. Maybe DeLeon can keep his pitches down like coach wants?
  2. Lubach has put the bat on the ball well so far. Keep that up and Stock's departure ain't so bad. (I realize it's game 1, but hey the dude hit around .390 in JUCO).
  3. Pierce has had some consistency issues, so I guess I'm not totally surprised. Fortunately, what happens on opening day doesn't have to define his season.
  4. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/college/2013/02/college-baseball-tv-schedule/ Here is a list of TV schedules for other conferences for comparison. Obviously, some of these are regional (such as Cox Sports, Fox Sports, and hey those rhyme, wtf, right?) The BTN needs to step their game up.
  5. I don't think there's much the BTN can do if all of those games are on the road. The Pac 12 Network will have some games streaming online this weekend for free if I recall correctly, I'm not sure if that includes Minnesota and UCLA or Michigan and Cal. EDIT: the P12 network will have Arizona's games against Coppin State online. Whoopty doo.
  6. Nebraska's starting pitcher versus CSUB: Brandon Pierce.
  7. Here's hoping that the rule changes (re: signing bonuses and stuff) can somehow play in Nebraska's favor
  8. The Big Ten Network needs to get serious and either reduce or eliminate the awful Student U broadcasts and replace them with their normal broadcasts (and no more tape-delay bull*%#$). This probably won't happen but I can dream.
  9. Whatever the W/L record hits is irrelevant for me, as long as we can look at the end of the season and see tangible progress from last year. Not playing on Northwestern's lumpy turf will automatically raise our infield defense about 100 points My only demand is that they improve their conference record. Pick up more than 1 sweep, don't lose any series to teams that finish outside the conference tournament.
  10. Doc's teams also enjoyed turning the ball over about 20 times a game. Miles has done a great job cutting those down.
  11. Barron Miles. Who needs a punt returner when you can just walk up and take the ball off the P's foot?
  12. When injuries and the standard coaching-change attrition leave you with severe depth issues, well. . .heart can only carry you so far. Just keep playing hard, Huskers.
  13. Going to be even tougher to win any games in the Big 10 now.
  14. Bummer has always been mentioned as a potential Friday guy, wouldn't surprise me too much if he took that spot and ran with it. Josh Roeder looks ready to close games; if Nebraska had solidified the closer spot before last season, they would have easily won the Gonzaga series.
  15. Some shuffling is normal, but I think the weekend starters will be more solidified than last season (meaning it won't take until the last 4-5 weeks of the season to fix your weekend rotation). Kubat was great, and Hirsch did well until the soreness from Tommy John surgery caught up with him in the second half of the season.
  16. Can't argue with the results on the recruiting trail so far; the coaching staff is making me very confident in the next few years. Consistency in the pitching staff will help in the near term, it seemed like they were really trying hard last season to find out where guys fit in for at least half of the season if not longer. They should know what they've got by now. And it won't hurt if Niederklein and Hirsch are back to 100%.
  17. Michigan State finished 10th in the coaches poll last year. But I've been told that still wasn't a "big" win As far as the original question, bring on anybody. After the Callahan error, I'm just glad the team is IN a bowl game at all.
  18. I didn't have a problem with the song choice, but just for example, 2:32-2:33 mark was where Abdullah's juke should have been, or at least a cut to a different camera angle. But I hate to be too nitpicky, it's a lot of work gathering highlights and making them into a coherent reel.
  19. And 99% of these rumors originate from teams' local media who say Pelini "should" be on the short list of coaches contacted. But when Osborne AND Pelini both say no contact was made, some fans just ignore it
  20. Show up ready to play. Last year's game wasn't even as close as the score indicated. Do that to them again.
  21. Peter Warrick had a shot until his shopping spree where he forgot to pay.
