Microsoft announced today that it's phasing out Internet Explorer. More surprising to me was the HUGE gap Chrome has built over Firefox in the last couple of years. FF is being left in the dust.
I think it's probably the nature of the web these days. I used to think of browsers as lightweight programs. Nowadays they play audio and video natively, render javascript, etc. Is there a way to keep the bloat down? Maybe. But Chrome is still really quick and snappy for me.
I just hate how any browser now default settings for any page you visit, automatically runs flash, media, location, etc. That is how malware and such are back dooring into systems.
