  1. Well, TCU's sole lose was to a top 6 Baylor team. OSU's was to Va Tech. Plus, I think TCU has more quality wins. I don't see OSU jumping them. FSU has to lose. WIth this theory, even if FSU loses, they lose to a ranked 11 team and that would still be above OSU, so the top 4 wouldnt change So TCU should throw out their entire season of work because of one game that was made by the Conference? Iowa State's record is their problem, not TCU.
  2. Weird. It's like Ohio State knew Wisconsin didn't have a passing game.
  3. Lots of good games and close games so far. Well except the B1G. I feel humbled now. Ohio State is impressing so far with that backup QB. I did not see that coming. Boy was I wrong....
  4. Well I prefer a balanced offense. Establish the run early and run with the lead. Mix in plenty of pass plays. Especially important when playing from behind and late game situations. But yeah the option does look cool when it is working well with a lead or a close game.
  5. I prefer a passing game......wah, waaahhhh
  6. The Blackshirts and O-line need to get skrong.
  7. The information I've read about Trent Bray seems pretty positive with him as a LB coach and recruiter in Texas. I hope he does real well with his group. It would be wonderful to see our linebackers mold into some hard hitting, ball hawking, group tackling, smart players that are allowed to play with some aggressiveness and instinct. This is a particular area that has been underperforming for several years. I might say under developing but at the same time it has to do with the type of responsibility and expectation that has been coached towards the group. How they are coached to play in the grand scheme. Also hoping Coach Mike Riley does a real nice job with his entire staff selection. I think we all know that these assistants can make such a difference.
  8. Meaning, Alabama vs FSU would be more difficult for the Tide than if they had to beat tOSU or Baylor in first round.
  9. I love underdogs and upsets as much as any. But more than that right now I just want to see the four best teams in the playoffs, which is usually toughest teams to beat. And they tend to be real good on both sides of the ball. I believe that's Alabama Oregon TCU & FSU. I don't want an easy path for one of the three teams because FSU loses and Ohio St (without Barrett) or Baylor (weakest D of the top 6) sneaks in.
  10. Where have I bashed Frost? I think he is a little green and I don't think the offense he runs and has been with for multiple years meshes AT ALL with Riley who will be calling the plays fwiw I like Frost a lot. I believe he could bring something special to this staff and team overall. But at the same time I agree with your point. I've been wondering how Frost could mesh as OC since the hiring. And the bottom line is that I just don't think it does. They are different and with Riley calling plays, I just don't see it as a fit. Would love to be wrong. Need experts.
  11. Michigan. Rich rod and Brady Hoke. Doesn't mean it will translate. Rich Rod's playing in a game right now. I'm starting to come around on Riley. We at least got to give the man a chance. Maybe this is the perfect fit for him. Truth be known, i was beside myself when he was announced. After the fire died and i got a full 24 hours worth of the media and coaches speaking and the sunshine from the fans, i was warming to the idea of this guy. Then i went outside Husker nation, and people were mocking this hire. I went back and looked into some things, which is when i got the feeling of 2003~2004 over again. Am AD brought in with the specific task of axing the current successful head coach with whom the chancellor disproved......check Failed NFL coach.....check Pro style offense......check Total outsider who has a calm demeanor......check Hire praised by media and press alike (pedeyshine) even though their records don't reflect it......check Putting together a staff of supposed top notch recruiters.......check Yeah, I've seen this movie before. Sure we have to give him a chance, but history doesn't favor success here For me, the difference maker is that I have a college HC record to work with, and, for Oregon State, it's not bad. Winningest coach in their history. I looked at the records. A blowout here or there against them, but, generally, they have been very competitive with good teams, both away and at home. But we weren't bad before the change of coaches. I was hoping for better, we were sold the home run hire. If we were going to make a change, make it for something better, that's all. Not an intentional walk. Please let that be all. You've been pretty persistent about it. Your last thread here states your thoughts. Why keep repeating yourself over and over? Never mind I don't really want to know.
  12. Grass isn't always greener on the other side. Which is a lesson we all have learned at some point in our lives. Hope the players that might be considering going somewhere to really think it through with solid advisors. Once you make an important decision, you'll likely want to see it through, good or bad.
  13. I agree. Gerry & Rose on defense. It's unfortunate Ameer is leaving. There isn't a name that pops up with the offense. A leader doesn't necessary have to start, but it helps. Probably Imani Cross. He'll be a senior. Although he seems more like the silent type figure. Player leadership is important so I hope many players step up for that type of role.
  14. Would be great to have EO here. Posted this in one of the Riley threads somewhere. What the heck I'll add it here. It's all fun anyway.
  15. As long as Mike Riley was the 1st choice over Bo and Lane Kiffin, I'm fine with it. Anything else is just gravy.
  16. Didn't want to start a new thread, and I don't want to derail this one either. I hope he does get those experts on his staff. Here's a little article from LATimes. Although it doesn't really add a lot other than what LA thought of this hire. "Mike Riley shockingly leaves Oregon State for Nebraska" Riley must have wondered all these years how he would do with USC's talent or, Nebraska's talent. Now he'll find out. His major gift as a coach was taking underdogs and making them better. http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-mike-riley-20141204-story.html
  17. Regarding bowl game "won't be coaching, but will have fun being a fan watching.." Regarding who assistant names might be "I'd rather not mention at this time. Some of them don't even know it yet" Regarding the plan "staffing, recruiting, moving fast..." Regarding Husker tradition and what he knows about Nebraska "What I've seen on TV. Was on the field as a player when Johnny Rodgers was running wild on Bama. Received a call when he was coaching in Canada "Hi Mike, it's Tom Osborne"...also has Tom's book on his bookshelf and refers to it. Also very high on walkons and their importance...Embraces it. Gave interesting examples of what they are capable of. What I also took from it was that he was genuine and spoke clearly and honestly. Never used the word "things" repeatedly as a description. So in that little regard, it makes it easier to actually understand what he means. And he answered the questions that were asked with the same demeanor, the difficult ones or not. Very good start IMO for Coach Mike Riley
  18. Thank you for this Q. That's pretty darn cool. I would +100 you if I could.
  19. I'm really hoping he brings on Ed Orgeron too
  20. And ditto, so far I am becoming more impressed the more I learn about him and what he has to say. Good press conference.
  21. would be nicer to change board front page from "Mike Riley - your new N HC wah, wahh" to "THE new head football coach of Nebraska"

  22. Just take a look at what TCU did when they brought in a new OC and a QB coach. I know Boykin got thrown in suddenly his FR year because of an injury. He was a big arm, hard throwing gunslinger that scrambled a lot. He had the tools and potential, but really raw. Bounced positions his second season & played some qb again. I wasn't too impressed by him and didn't have any hopes as the named starting QB going into this season. But they hired a new OC and a QB coach, and the team learned a new offense rather easily & quickly and it was impressive. Not saying TA will or will not improve, but it is possible. Just food for thought. Sometimes a different coach / strategy / teaching / direction / support can go along way. Oh, and the new OC had one year experience as an OC with Houston. http://www.tcu360.com/football/2014/10/33110.airing-it-out-meacham-and-cumbie-revolutionize-tcus-offense
  23. thanks.... streaming the zone it is
  24. What happens to the assistant coaches, and how in the world we'll they put together a game plan for the defense? It's impossible now..
