  1. Can we at least let these guys actually install their offense before we judge it? Right now they are workinfg with what Tommy can give them but he isn't their ideal guy. It would have been very easy for Riley to have brought in a transfer and told Tommy to take a walk like Jim Harbaugh and Gary Andersen did. Heck, he could have just brought in Luke Del Rio, the guy he had lined up to replace Mannion in Corvallis when Amdersen kicked hom to the curb. Del Rio is at Florida and just may be the best QB in the SEC. He didn't do that to Tommy. That's called respect. Maybe we show him enough respect in return to see what he can do with not just this team but the team he actually puts together to run his game before we claim he has none.
  2. Virginia also gave up 500+ yards and 37 points last week; to Richmond.
  3. Our O-Line was so preoccupied with trying to blow up their man they completely forgot you need to progress to the second level.
  4. We played USC a few years ago and we were supposed to play an SEC team (Tennessee) this year but they backed out. Which is why we are now playing Oregon.
  5. Yeah they are kind of the new health fad but actually kind of work. However, Bando is backwards, melatonin is needed by the body and is what helps you sleep. Blue light emitted by electronics (ie. staring at smartphones) suppress the creation of melatonin by the body. Sounds complicated, but basically they are just wearing orange tinted sunglasses. The orange tint negates the blue light and allows for increased melatonin production that naturally lets you sleep better.
  6. Absolutely disagree. IMO our scheduling lately has been nearly perfect aside from hosting BYU. Not only in terms of competition levels and progressions but the last half decade or so the weaker teams chosen each generally served a purpose in terms of showing us an entry level version of something we would face against the bigger games later that season. There was some pretty good thought process to how the schedule was constructed... I just wish we could say the same about the conference schedule makers.
  7. We had a third down play early in the frst half where going low hurt us. Kalu went low on their WR on a swing pass on like 3rd and 2 and the kid fell forward for the 1st down. Had Kalu hit him up top he probably stops him short. That said, I recall one blitz where MRI had their QB dead to rights up the middle and just flat ran right by him... but did we actually miss a single tackle where we made contact?
  8. Uh no. Nebraska wasn't added as a "joke." Nebraska was his pick because the Larry Culpepper character is played by an actor named James Connor whom is from Omaha and is a Husker Homer.
  9. Pretty sure they talked about this a few years ago and again when we hired the new womens basketball coach. They have been doing this since 2014 and didn't actually get rid of these perks. They just don't structure them into the contract individually itemized anymore. If a coach wants a country club membership or a car in their deal they still get one but they just take the actual financial cost and roll it into the salary instead of adding it on top.
  10. Can someone please just ask Jack Stark what is correct so the debate can end?
  11. I thought the time off with no pay was light too, until it was noted that that essentially is a $15,000 fine. Thinking of it in those terms it felt sufficient to me.
  12. In Lincoln EVERY DUI is automatically entered as a not guilty plea until the actual court date. Anyone reporting simply that he "pled not guilty" is being lazy. --- Also.. to anyone claiming "football first" due to the charges https://twitter.com/swmckewonOWH/status/765288172410527744 https://twitter.com/swmckewonOWH/status/765288452900397056
  13. Nebraska went 9-0 in 1902 10-0 in 1903 8-0 in 1913 7-0-1 in 1914 8-0 in 1915 And went undefeated in The team's very first season.. of course it was only a two game schedule in 1890. So we could claim at least 17 if we were so inclined. But then we would be as pathetic as those schools that do claim titles like that. So lets not do that.
  14. One absurd play that still stands out for me is the ISU defender trying to break Burkhead's neck and we get called for a penalty.
  15. Cool. Why? He loves his buddy Tate Martell who seems to be headed to OSU. Seems a lot like Gebbia/KJJ situation to me. Plus, Tyjon has been tweeting a lot of OSU stuff. Not that he has stopped tweeting Nebraska stuff, but the OSU stuff has definitely picked up with him. Seems like they might be looking forward to setting up a friendly Gebbia/KJJ vs. Martell/Lindsey rivalry that meets on the field in a few years. Is OSU taking 2 QB's? They already have one commited.
  16. This has been addressed before and may not fair well for the university. Here is an article that shared this picture with the caption below. Link He's not lying he knows how they work and is specifically manipulating the process trying to make a point. The way these balloons work is the latex used has a special chemical coating that increases it's degradation speed. That chemical process is activated by exposure to sunlight. So yeah if you bury one it is basically a regular balloon, but if you send them into the atmosphere.. which we do, they degrade. Interesting. The way I read your comment is that as the balloons are floating in the atmosphere, which we release them into, they degrade. I doubt that is what you meant. My question is how long do they take to degrade if they are not buried? Also, do they have to remain in direct sunlight to degrade faster than normal latex balloons?I just knew how it works not much else so I looked it up. Looks loke it depends on the quality and how high they fly. They are designed to reach 28,000 ft. At which point they freeze and basically disitigrate. There seems to be a 1 in 500 failure rate to reach that altitude. A quality balloon that doesn't reach that height seems to take 6 months in indirect sunlight but in poor lighting a non quality balloon takes "as long as an oak leaf". That didn't sound bad to me... until I looked up how long an oak leaf lasts. An oak leaf can take 4 years to degrade. So.... yeah. Not great.

  18. I don't have to "feel" or "eyeball test" anything. I just showed you some actual facts that clearly indicate we were a worse team last year. I'm pretty sure these are some of the facts MD3 was referring to when he said we took a big step back last year. Your attempt to discredit his opinion by statistically equating the two previous seasons with "feelings" and "eyeball tests" is understandable, but still wrong. And silly. There were glimmers of hope. The play at the end of the season showed that when the coaches learn to properly utilize the talent we have, we could have a pretty good team. So perhaps that walks back (forward?) that big step backwards a bit. Although the win over Mich St. felt good, it doesn't actually mean as much as people think it does. And the UCLA win felt good, though it took the coaches a while to formulate an efficient game plan. But there is still a lot of improvement needed by coaches and players to undo some of the sad play and playcalling from ALL of last season.Have we not bitched about playcalling etc since Solich though? Every off season we moan about the same stuff, the names of coaches change but the complaints remain the same. I honestly feel that if Bo would have been here last year we finish with a very similar record. Perhaps 7-5 or 8-4 but i dont think we would have the same optimism many have now. 5-7 sure seems like a step backwards from 7-5 or 8-4. That would have resulted in a higher standing in the conference, and likely an actual ranking and better bowl game, or would that be silly? MD3 will probably accept your apology now. You are both correct here. We were better coached as the year went on than any point since Bo's origional assistants were here. We Also took a step back. Something that tends to happen when you lose guys like Ameer, Gregory and DPE without anyone to replace them. Even then it wasn't a massive step back. We lost more games and the loss to Purdue was bad but remember, in 2014 we had those three dudes and a healthy Armstrong and still needed a heisman caliber play from Ameer to beat McNeese State.
  19. Doesn't work that way and for good reason. A conference you are no longer part of isn't going to promote your history. Most fans aren't paying attention ot old conference lists, shows etc. They pay attention to and compare themselves against the conference they are in presently so those are where those comparisons belong.
  20. Personally I would prefer VT over UVA (though UVA is tolerable) but really could care less about a bunch of basketball schools. OU would be great to add IMO, but simply put UNC is everybit the lynchpun Nebraska was last round and unless that pun is pulled the Big Ten is waiting.
  21. You were rolling until the NC State and Wake (omg that one had to have been a joke right?) comment. No not a joke. That said Duke is the only one that UNC reasonably may request provided NC State finds a reasonable landingspot outside the Big Ten. Wake probably would not be in the discussion. I'm not saying any of those four would be invited, simply that Delany would take them of UNC made any or all of those schools tagging along if it lands UNC and Virginia.
  22. Either of these new CC guys the type that with a good summmer would be eligible to be here for fall camp?
  23. Would the Big Ten take OU? Absolutely. Would the Big Ten expand again if OU is the top billing program coming in? Absolutely not. After the past round of movement, aside from possibly (and at this point I do mean possibly) Notre Dame, I highly doubt we see The Big Ten expand again until North Carolina is ready to make a move. At which point the Big Ten and SEC will probably fight over landing the Tarheels. Delany really, really wants a North Carolina & Virginia package deal and would very likely give UNC the option to invite whoever they want to the party to land them. If UNC wants Duke in Duke will be in, if they want NC State or Wake Forest in, they will be in.. if UNC wants all of the above that would probably happen too, basically as long as UNC and Virginia are in Delany would annex all of tobacco road if needed regardless of whoelse that shuts out or leaves the SEC or P12 to snatch.
  24. It wasn't that they reached their peak. Until even the very late 90's multiple NFL franchises were laughably behind NU in training. There were dozens of stories from guys who would leave NU and go to the NFL and break down due to poor training and nutrition reaquirements compared to what their bodies were accustomed to. Lots of guys from NU lost their legs running endless windsprints and having to do wrong freeweight reps in the pros whereas guys that did those inferior programs in college were generally fine. Now virtually everyone does what NU was doing 15 years ago so it is less common, we just haven't been as good getting those dudes here first the past 8-10 years. It also doesn't help that we traditionally turn out lots of runningbacks, a position notorious for a short career
