  1. So, I made a point to catch the ESPNU Big 10 preview. They spent very little time on the Huskers. After giving considerable time to Penn State (all the changes), Ohio State (Urban), Michigan (Denard), Wisky (2 time Big 10 champs, another transfer QB), and Michigan State (made their defense sound like it is best thing since sliced bread), they gave virtually no time to Nebraska. Basically said it was our second year in the Big 10 after coming in last year as a potential favorite. Mentioned we have a tough schedule and the analyst who was asked if we will do better this year than last said that we would not and we would not get 5 conference wins this year. Sheesh...I know there is that ESPN conspiracy theory and all ( ) but they just sort of made us an afterthought with Minny and Iowa. I expected them to give us some more time and more of a here is how Nebraska can do well vs. here is how they will struggle. Instead under 30 seconds for our segment? They talked up Monte Ball and Denard Robinson and the MSU defense. Also mentioned RB Bell at MSU as the next best back in the conference. Gave only a mention of Burkhead near the end. I found it interesting that they picked the Big 10 as the unanimous second toughest conference behind the SEC. Anyway, maybe it is a good thing that the national media is not expecting squat out of this year's team and just let the team do what it can. These other teams have huge expecations from the media...Robinson and Michigan, Ball and Wisky, and Urban at OSU (they think that team will win 10 games). Our highest expectations are from the fans which is only because we care so much. Maybe not having the national media attention will make us that much more hungry...I sure hope so!
  2. From Husker Journal. I like this Gladney kid. AUGUST 15, 2012. ALL TEAMS MESSAGE BOARDS KEVIN GLADNEY, WR, 6-1, 185, 4.5, AKRON (FIRESTONE), OHIO “Great To Be A Husker” “You know it’s going to be great to be a Husker I feel it was a great choice. What I most like about Nebraska is how the coaches treat the players. Everybody is a family and everything. Their facilities are right there. That’s what I like about Nebraska.” Gladney said Ohio Kids Showing A Second Home “Nebraska is sort of like family they have 6 from Ohio, I don’t know how many they have but it’s a lot, I like that. It’s kind of different it’s (Lincoln) 14 hours away from Ohio for kids to go to that school, home away from home, but it’s the Big Ten and it’s a good school. And for Ohio kids to go there it shows something about Nebraska.” Gladney said “Everything was good. Lincoln was a good city to me a good place for me to stay for four years, kind of like how that’s how I picked it.” “When I talked to Coach Vince Marrow he told me I have a great shot to play early there. He said I’m not 6-1 you’re more like 6-5. I being 6-4 can grab the ball go past the defender.” Complete Player “They like how I run my routes,” he says. “And the most important thing I can adjust to the quarterback passes and everything, that’s what they said the most about me, adjusting to the ball.” “They (NU coaches) said I’m a difference maker, right now I’m at the top of the list for recruits at wide outs. They wanted me all the highlight tapes they watched. I’m the one and that was a big thing and talking to (Tom) Osborne was a big thing ‘like man’. For him (Osborne) knowing about me, like they really want me to be a Husker.” Gladney said
  3. A welcome and obvious change that was needed. I have harped on the D-line for far too long. Glad they took my advice.
  4. Nailed it. It is well known at USC how everyone competes for their spot and this drives a culture of excellent play. Hope Moore can return and perform well. And I surely hope the coaches are playing the best performers and not favorites. If we play the best performers I am good with that and it will raise everyone's game. I had heard positive things about Qvale so maybe he is beast mode. Heck, the silver lining in this might be that yes Moore is good but is Qvale great? I think we need them both. I just want to win football games.
  5. http://nebraska.riva...asp?CID=1395024 Nebraska has yet to officially announce the news, but Pelini is scheduled to meet with the media following Saturday's practice.
  6. Choi gave me some surprising flashes of good play last year and that was it. I pray Qvale and Sirles are the monsters we perceived when we recruited them. This O-Line needs to come together BIG time.
  7. Not sure what to make of this whole thing. Very odd. GF posting on his behalf is not a good look at all. I don't know if he cracked under the pressure of the coaches? If he did, so be it. Also would hope the coaches were on the up and up. I don't care for Bobby Knight antics or playing head games and sometimes it seems posters insinuate coaches are doing this. Heck, coaches should push them and get the best out of them and tell them straight up what they need to do and they'll rise up or not...if not, I am ok with that but the best players will typically rise up to the challenge. This seems to be our style and that is great. But sometimes I worry about the nonsense.
  8. Interesting. You went real old school in 2003, according to the football in the middle of the picture :rollin
  9. Husker Nation can now follow Priest Willis...he is recently new to twitter: https://twitter.com/pwillisjr3
  10. Hannon on Twitter says decision is tough, can't decide yet: https://twitter.com/_hannonzach72
  11. Follow Lacy on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theREALklacy
  12. OK I made an edit to my above post. Harlow going to UW as he is friends with 2 other UW commits...which just happen to be current teammates of Johnny Stanton, including Stanton's center Dane Crane. The other is Stanton teammate Connor O'Brien. I don't want UW coaches and UW friends/teammates in Stanton's ear the next 6 months!
  13. Unfortunately i called this, imo this had ALOT to do with distance. From his quotes you could tell he just wasnt comfortable with the distance. Went to the best school offered that was close to home, unfortuantely for us most do. Distance is the number 1 factor in recruiting and we are at a major disadvantage. Could be a bad week fo us with Hannon decision coming towards the end of the week. Might have to not visit this site for a week or so until everyones done crying. The sky is not falling we are going to be ok. Hannon will be a bigger loss if he doesnt choose us, because hes alot closer to home, and a kid we should be getting. I am not buying the distance argument. It is not like he is going to the next county at USC or UCLA. Nor is he even remaining in state to northern CA at Cal or Stanford. Seattle, WA is 1,000+ miles from San Clemente, CA. He had offers to UCLA and Cal as well as AZ schools (all are much closer) so IMO distance was not a factor which makes the choice to WA that much stranger. Did not see this coming. Edit: saw some online comments that he has friends already committed to UW and wanted to play with them. Not much we can do to overcome that if he wanted to play with his friends.
  14. The black helmets are badass. I love them. As for the rest, I'm alright with it. It is just for one game and is fun for the players and fans. IMO this is OK for one game and we are not on either extreme nor do I think we will ever be. One extreme is Oregon who had a cool thing going but now are a laughingstock with how many different uni's they have and some are awful. Bring out a new look for a bowl game...Oregon that is fine...but some of the variations with the green and puke yellow are terrible. Also their ones where you are not able to read the names on the back just look cheap and we are trying to be cool but epic fail. The other extreme is Maryland...they tried but wow 4 out of every 5 people I know that have commented on them think those may be the worst college football uni's evah! They just completely struck out.
  15. That would be pretty cool. Lovin the black helmet. How about a game where the the offense wears the regular traditional uni's and so does the defense but the defense just slaps on that black helmet!
  16. Article says it is Nebraska and Arkansas. Not a tough decision IMO. http://www.arkansassports360.com/85684/otis-kirk-kansas-city-lineman-narrows-choices-to-arkansas-nebraska
  17. Priest Willis narrows to top 15. Nebraska will get a visit. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/southeast/post?id=6917&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fblog%2fncfrecruiting%2fsoutheast%2fpost%3fid%3d6917
  18. Interesting bit of info. Great to hear about Ciante Evans...I liked his potential two years ago but last year thought he regressed...never thought Raymond's finesse style fit him so maybe Coach Joseph has him playing fierce again. And Qvale...great to hear...he was going to be a huge monster beast but then injury set him back. Maybe we will finally see the demolition we have all been waiting for! Heard to RB makes sense if Mo, Evans, CJ, Green, and more are playing well. We needed another RB.
  19. Interesting...along with Harlow, other OL recruits Quessenberry and Hinnant are within an easy drive of Stanton. Stanton would be south Orange County along with Harlow...Q is north San Diego County and Hinnant is north Orange County. Thinking Stanton should take these guys out for a lunch or dinner soon!
  20. Cal recruiting site pretty confident they get him. http://www.californi...nd-the-2013-cgb IMO, Cal has underperformed recently. It wasn't too long ago Tedford was looking good and the man out west...but programs like USC, Stanford, Oregon have taken the mantle which Cal can never seem to grab. I would argue Washington and the AZ schools have become more relevant than Cal which seems mired in mediocrity in the Pac 12. Newby would be a great back for us and hope we land him in the end.
  21. DT needs a major impact player and this kid fits the bill. Haven't had it since Suh and Crick was plagued by injury last year. It is time to go beast mode again at DT. We have had success with Juco's...I am expecting this kid to be N.
  22. I wanted this kid and surprised we didn't get closer with him. I want Priest Willis more.
  23. One reporter's impressions on the QB's at the Elite 11 including Stanton, Kincade, Jennings, and Zaire. http://sportsillustr...ions/index.html
